Hi! My toddler refuses to drink plain water, I don't blame her, the water here is horrible, and I've been told little ones shouldn't have bottled water because of the mineral content. So we give her very diluted juice. We treat it as a water flavouring, like a healthy cordial minus the sugar and plus some extra vitamins, as opposed to treating it like a juice drink. She almost never recieves pure juice.
Now that the little disclaimer is out of the way lol (I was hoping to avoid the oft-repeated lecture on why little children should never recieve juice)
Anyway, since she has it in such small amounts I find myself only using say 300ml per sitting. I want to give her cold pressed juice but obviously setting up the juicer to squeeze, say, a single carrot, and then pulling it all apart to clean it afterwards is a lot of work. On the other hand I have read that home pressed juice goes bad quickly, I've been told you should drink juice within 15 minutes, and I know this is the case for centrifugal juicers because of the heat, but what about cold presses? I'm not concerned so much with nutrient loss, it will still have more nutrients than store bought juice. I'm concerned, rather, about flavour. Some people talk about it taking on a bad flavour within a few hours, or tasting 'off'. I think it was someone on here who said they ended up tipping their lemon juice down the sink by afternoon, I'd be interested to know how it was juiced.
I'm not talking about keeping the juice for a week, just juicing what I want for the day in the morning, and having it keep till evening (or perhaps till the next day on sundays when we leave the house early) will it still taste good? At the moment it's either that, or V8 juice boxes, because I can't juice 3 times a day and clean it each time. Sure it only takes 10 minutes to clean, but that adds up to 3.5 hours through the week!
Thank you for your advice!
