I am never constipated. I eat mostly cooked foods and before green smoothies 80% of my veggies were steamed. However I
began to blend smoothies (usually spinach, kale or parsley with bananas) and for the past 2 weeks I have been constipated. I
usually went to the bathroom once a day and now it is like every 3 days and it is takes a lot of work to push out. Like I said, before I never had ANY problems. I am thinking about stopping green smoothies altogether as my body may not work well with them.

I've heard of this before. How about watering them down and upping your water intake?

Hey. I drink 1 gallon of water a day (have always done so). It sucks because I really liked the idea of getting a lot of greens in my diet but I believe that everyone's bodies are different and maybe my body doesn't like a huge amount of raw greens.

I doubt that's the case. But feel free to drop them if you wish...

Well it is something and it is too coincidental that I never had this problem until the day after starting green smoothies...

I'd eliminate the bananas before eliminating the greens. There's a lot more fruit choices other than bananas.

Okay I am opened to that maybe the blended bananas are doing it since it is creamy or something.
Maybe pineapple and apples will be better...?

Green smoothies have the opposite effect on me! I think that unripe bananas are supposed to be constipating so maybe unripe bananas are causing this. They are ripe when they get spots.

You could try blending a few prunes up with the smoothie?

Make sure you are eating RIPE spotty bananas in your smoothie and also ensure you are hydrated by drinking enough water. Make sure you are peeing clear at least 8-12 times a day :-)

By adding the smoothies, you have probably decreased the bulk your body is used to. You could add some fiber product (like the powders you mix into water) for awhile until you get regulated again. Eating apples may help you, they do me.

Retinoid,
Have you tried the suggestions given? Are smoothies working better for you now?
