Hello all!
I have been lurking for a week and have made a few posts so far, so thought I should take a moment to introduce myself.
I am a 30 year old fun guy living in Denver, Colorado. I have been ovo-lacto veggie for about ~10 years, with some vegan phases here and there. I have had all sorts of dietary problems throughout my life, and being veggie seemed to be the best way to keep them under control. I had an ulcer, am lactose intolerant, have IBS and love to eat dessert.
Speaking of dessert.. I just can't get enough of them. For some reason, I have become addicted to my nightly brownie. I need something sweet after every meal. Unless the dessert IS the meal.. LOL I love dessert so much, I almost started school this year to get a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts.
Anyway, all of that fat and sugar has had its toll. My IBS symptoms are non stop, I have slowly gained about 25lbs over the past year, I have no energy, I stopped going to the gym, I am always hungry, irritable, etc., etc.
Magically, while I was doing some research on veggie IBS diet options about two months ago, I stumbled on a raw food web site and found myself reading and reading and reading. Next thing you know, I have a house filled with raw food books.. I can't stop reading and of course, trying out recipes. Most of them have been dessert recipes.. and a few entrees.
My partner and I did a one week of about 90% raw and it felt amazing! We experimented with all sorts of new foods and preperation techniques. We then celebrated with some Chipotle burritos after the end of the week and don't you know they didn't taste so good? Well, next thing you know, we are only have one or two raw meals a week. And somehow we just stopped making nut milk.
Well now I know that the next step for me is to really embrace the raw/living food lifestyle and just jump in. What has come up, of course, are night after night of eating out with friends, emotional excuse #3-#44, a two week vacation, etc.
I am super super excited to have found this board. Everyone here seems so great and encouraging! After reading some of these posts, I just ordered a copy of Alissa's book! And I am mentally prepping myself to jump into a 30 day challenge..
Thanks for listening.. I look forward to chatting with you all!

PS: I happen to be a *very* silly guy.. and that sillyness doesn't always translate well over the forum messges. Please keep that in mind when you are reading messages I have posted!
