When I'm eating all raw I feel amazing and I love it but I have trouble sticking to it!! I don't know why, I just give into tempting foods so easily and then I feel really bad. I stuck to it for a week straight and then ate a piece of pizza and a bunch of other junk yesterday. I need help with sticking to it because I feel terrible when I completely mess it up. It's also hard in school sometimes when I get hungry or when my mom doesn't buy enough raw food. I just really want to be raw and lose weight too but I keep failing myself before I can even see any results, so maybe some of you can help me :)

My advise to you is to transition. When we are trying to make a drastic change, and mess up every time we are dedicated to it, it's your body's way of saying SLOW DOWWWWWN! I started transitioning 2 years ago, but every day I woke up I planned to go 100%, The first time I tried to go raw, I lasted 6 days, then I hit a really bad detox with cold sweats and fever. After that, I fell off and forgot about it for awhile. But I felt like crap, and felt amazing those 6 days.
One day I decided to remove gluten from my diet because I was really fed up with chronic fatigue, arthritis, depression (suicidal), anxiety, paranoia.... It took me months just to get gluten out of my diet, I would go a week, eat it, go two weeks, eat it, go 3 weeks, eat it, and then a fter 3 weeks I really felt the difference when I ate it (I had a psychotic episode). Won't touch the stuff ever again. I then removed dairy, and eggs, which I also discovered I was allergic to. This took me all at least 5 months! I wasn't focused on raw food but I was transitioning without even realizing it. I felt WAY less horrible than I did to start, like 1000X less horrible, but I still didn't feel good..
Another 5 months later I rediscovered raw and did a 30 day trial, telling myself I could go back after 30 days. That 30 days just reinforced how AMAZING you feel on raw! It doesn't even compare to the 6 days I did before, after you go through detox you feel invincibly peaceful!
Then fell off, then began to transition to permanent raw, 30% raw one month, 50% raw next month, 70% raw next 3 months, 80, 90...
On day 10 of 100% :D
But what I REALLY want to emphasize is the importance of going slowly. By transitioning slowly, you lose the 'all or nothing' attitude, and if you ever fall off of raw, you don't go back to cakes and hotdogs and burgers! (I would never eat gluten or dairy ever again after seeing the difference from just that!) you go back maybe down to 90% raw when you fall off if you have transitioned, and it seems just like a part of the process. By transitioning you can appreciate every little step you take and take none of it for granted. Eliminating gluten and dairy from your diet is a great (if not necessary) first step for good health. Gluten is in wheat, rye, barley, most (if not all) people cannot digest it and it causes a huge inflammatory condition in the body, it is especially correlated to depressive disorders. Or start by going vegetarian, then move onto vegan. ETC! Basically I believe in transitioning and it sounds like it could really help you!!

Yea I'll have to agree with EscapeArtist. For me it took about a week of transitioning before i really went balls to the wall. I officially stopped eating meat two Wednesdays ago, but still ate cooked veggies(mainly mozzarella sticks and curly fries, and cheesecake too lol) and then last Tuesday i went all raw..and let me tell you by Thursday, and especially Friday morning i felt so ALIVE, i didn't want cooked food at all...then some coworkers and I went out after work for happy hour...I was told Wine was technically raw..so i allowed myself to just have one glass, then ordered a salad with lots of tomotoes and no dressing. This was my first time going out with people and being RAW and even tho i didn't "crave" nor really want the cooked food, i missed the feeling of being "normal"...like i kept feeling like "this is weird for me to not to be eating chicken or something with my coworkers"...
so I get home..and normally on fridays i sit back with a couple of drinks, some nice greasy food and catch up on my DVR or rent a movie or something..and i was sitting here thinking "you know what..i should have a cheat day this is just so weird for me to be catching up on my dvr and not eating some delicious fried food" so i ordered in...cheese sticks, curly fries, and carrot cheesecake....I mean SECOND i swallowed the first bite of the cheese stick my body went "WTF is this?" i mean i felt nauseous, but i kept eating slowly, by the time i got the whole cheesecake slice down...my body was shaking and i remember being out on my patio thinking "i think i should grab my phone and call an ambulance, i think I'm about to pass out or have a seizure" I had NEVER felt this way in my life..the shaking subsided so i just layed down and went to sleep..
woke up the next morning...omg the most distinct, different, and painful stomach ache i have ever had..it took some carrot juice, sliced tomatoes, and about 6 hrs of being curled up in a ball in my bed before i felt better. I went into my kitchen and forgot i had also ordered a hot dog from that place, i looked at it and quickly threw it away..after that experience i guarantee you i will never eat cooked anything ever again..my body has finally in 21 years eaten living food as it was meant to and it refuses to go back. I think all of us at some point will have that type of experience where we are raw for a while and our body pushes out all that cooked toxins etc and we eat something not raw and our body doesn't know what to do with it. So just transition slowly and your body will do the rest..i literally crave my tomato garlic "sandwhiches" every day..and i use to HATE tomatoes with a passion...RAW ROCKS!

It's my opinion that it's almost always impossible to replace 'black' with 'white' just like that... sometimes we have to make it through with varying shades of gray. :)
I, too, often used to treat myself to the crappiest of junk foods often when I made the decision to live healthier. But once in a while doesn't hurt. For every fatty food consumed I promised myself to exercise it off the very same day. Things tend to stabilize that way. And so will your desires for unhealthy foods after a certain while.

I went raw vegan for ethical reasons. Once you KNOW what happens to animals and whatnot, to get milk (cow pus) and meat (animal flesh!!) I'd NEVER give in to those foods, because it totally goes against my morals. But I'd give in to vegan chocolate or tofutti or something. The best way to stay away is to fill yourself with delicious raw foods! Find some new, delicious, and exciting recipes. That way, you'll never get bored. :)

Picture "cooked food" as toxic...because it is! I used to love a French Vanilla Cappacino. I used to say to myself that one wouldn't hurt. Then when I was determined to go 100%, I would say to myself, "Do I want a little bit of poison, or no poison?" It really helped me cut out all the crap. Hope this helps!
