View Full Version : How to store Coconut oil?

Should I keep the jar in the fridge or cupboard? The oil used to be solid but in the cupboard it has all turned soft. On the jar it doesn't mention keeping in the fridge.

It melts at a fairly low temperature (upper seventies?). We've always left our jars out with no problems. I would keep it out of the light though.

It is all liquid now. I am keeping it in the cupboard.

Coconut oil is EXTREMELY stable. It has an expiration of at least one year on it, and I've heard it can keep for two without going rancid.
I just keep my in a pantry that is a little cooler than the rest of the house. But yes, in the hot summer, it does get soft, even turns to liquid. Not a problem.

I keep mine in the fridge now. The last jar I had kept in the cabinet. I had it for a long time and it got moldy. I had used most of it before that happened, but I still hated to have throw it out.
