I am on the way out and will research later, but was wondering if you can soak nuts for too long. I cannot remember when I put the sunflower seed, cashew nut container in the fridge. SOmeone on here mentioned using cashews in place of almonds and I soaked them that night only to not use them when I learned I had no container to put the end result in...

I don't know if rinsing is sufficient or I should just dump and re-start. I am putting more in now so I can make milk tomorrow.

DItto on dates. I have a container in the fridge that I just pull from. They have definitely been in there long enough for the pits to have popped themselves out, but not sure of time

lt's interesting when it comes to nuts. l soak walnuts in their shells and forget about them sometimes and a week later they are o.k. Other times l have soaked nuts without shells for three days and they are o.k. l have also soaked chestnuts in their shells for 6 months (changing the water every two weeks) and then sprouted and they are o.k. But a friend says that with various tap waters genuine raw nuts will go bad within a day or two. Sometimes l sprout almonds and they go smelly after 2 - 3 days and get very fury easily. There are lots of different variables, but if they start getting all wierd then they must be composted or thrown outside for creatures to eat.
