Hello everyone, Im Scott, 30 years old and transitioning to a full raw food lifestyle. Ive been kinda searching around but can not really find much on what spices I can use when I am fully 100% raw. I know I cant use processed table salt, but what about like onion or garlic powder or even cayenne powders, also is there a raw lifestyle "salt"?

Hi Scott, I'm Amanda ... also 30 and just eight weeks in to my raw lifestyle. I don't really use much salt but when I do it's himalayan sea salt... you should be able to find it at any health food store, or online. I like to use fresh garlic, ginger, lemongrass, basil, mint, cilantro, parsley, etc. as opposed to powdered spices. I hope this is helpful.

Hey Amanda, yes that is VERY helpful!! I always just assumed that the powdered spices were not really "raw" and more processed then anything so wasnt really something I wanted to use, but didnt know about the himalayan sea salt. Have you ever tried celery salt? Ive heard that was suppose to be a good "salt" substitute as well.

Scott, I'm not a fan of celery salt - I would really recommend the pink himalayan sea salt - just google it and you can read up on the benefits of its use. I think that any powdered spices unless they were labelled "raw" would be pretty processed. If I wanted to get really into things, I would buy fresh herbs and then dehydrate them myself to make spice blends. :)
