Hi, my name is Simon and i am just starting out on a raw and juice lifestyle. My juicer arrived a week ago and i am already using it 3 times a day to produce a mixture of Fruit or Veg drinks. I am already looking at passing on my juicer to my brother as it is a high speed centrifuge type and he is more into fruit juices (yes i know, why didnt i find this site or John Kohler's videos first) . I want to go onto green juices and at present my juicer just about manages parsley etc when it is tightly packed between harder veg or fruit.

I am looking into either the Omega Vert HD or the Omega 8004/6. Not sure i want to stretch to the Greenstar Elite, but time will tell as i am going to keep my current one for a couple of month to ensure that my new juicing lifestyle remains strong.

My current favorites are Carrot/Celery/Ginger/Parsley/Lemon and Apple/Carrot/Pear/Beet

Thanks for reading and i look forward to the new me and the journey ahead.

By the way one reason for the move to Raw is that i have a very rare illness called Panhypopituitarism...(lol trust me to have a long complicated one) which resulted in a dead Thyroid and Pitutiary gland diagnosed when i was 3.

Simon.

8006 is a great juicer - I've had one for ages, and a Matstone before that (a very similar predecessor).

However, if quantity is a factor for you, then the Vert might just edge in front, since it's a faster, volume juicer than the 8006.

Also consider how easy to clean the juicers are, because twingear juicers require a little more cleaning, which may be off-putting if you're juicing 10 or more time per week.

John Kohler's videos are great - the guy's a star; I really like his comprehensive reviews and, most of all, his sincerity and enthusiasm.

Welcome! and i am an owner of the OmegaVert... I adore it. Great for juicing everything...even greens. It's not too much cleaning in my opinion, and honestly the quality of the juice I get cancels out the time spent cleaning(which is literally a few mins).

Hi Simon - I got the Samson 6 in 1 juicer and am very pleased with that for dark leafy greens. I'm keeping my very cheap centrifugal juicer too because it works, it's quick, and it's better for things like carrots than the Samson is.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you all for the replies. I was wondering if it is more beneficial to just keep the juicer i have at present which manages hard fruits and vegg and buy a Blendtec or Vitamix to cover the greens and Nut Butters etc, or can this be managed in my Cuisinart FP? I am guessing not as it is nowhere near or as fast as these2 blenders.

Would appreciate your thoughts and experience.

Simon.

Keep an eye on ebay. Sometimes you can get some good equipment.
I am watching a dehydrator for my sister at present.

Simon, probably the best thing is to experiment with the equipment you've got, for nut butters and so on. I wouldn't go crazy and buy a Vitamix straightaway. As I said, I still use my very cheap and cheerful juicer, cheep and cheerful food processor, a Kenwood smoothie maker and - for grinding - a Magic Bullet which works fine. And I have the Samson for the greens - the combination of all of these suits me fine right now - and I juice every day and make a green smoothie every day. My plan is that as my current equipment wears out, then a Vitamix might be on the horizon - but I probably need to save for a year or so to afford one :-)
