Default October 2011 Fasting Thread... join any time of the month!!!
PLEASE... feel free to join this thread any time ... we loooove having new friends to fast with!!!
PLEASE... feel free to join this thread any time ... we loooove having new friends to fast with!!!
Here's are the 'rules' of this thread:
Please do not discuss specific food. Feel free to share "My hubby was eating and it was hard for me." Please don't share "My hubby was eating X, Y and Z..."
The reason we do this is so no one ends up getting a craving from a fasting thread. As a faster we can choose to click on a thread which discusses food but we need the safety within this thread to know food is not discussed. Juices are shared, M/C is shared, green smoothie recipes are shared... but not 'chewable' food.
Please join us... by listening to our theme song (http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2539741). We all come together... from around the world to fast together and support each other. Please join us!
There is a great deal of info in this stickie (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=62026). Please take a moment to read it.
And here is a thread (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=61603) where we share our favourite recipes. If you haven't contributed yours, please do!
Here's my commitment (when I'm fasting):
I'm here to fast. I'm not here to eat. I will fast until I choose to stop but I will NOT stop my fast on a bad day, at night or today. I can choose to break my fast tomorrow in the morning but not today.
I'm here to gain health.
I'm here to gift my body the time and energy to bring my body to a state of health.
I'm here to release - whatever needs to be released. Physical, emotional, conscious or unconscious out-moded things... I'm here to release them all.
I'm here to bring a greater depth to my spirituality.
I'm here to support myself and others.
I am here to continue to be mindful - focusing on this moment and not anticipating the next one.
I am here to share my experience and gain knowledge from what others share.
I'm here to feel whole. I'm here to give my beautiful, cherished body a break from digesting food!!!
This is the "Fellowship of the Fasters" - unlike the LOTRs fellowship of nine, we are a fellowship of many. We welcome newcomers daily and embrace everyone no matter what they are fasting on or their personal beliefs.
Yes you can prefer green juices to fruit. Yes you can use agave instead of maple syrup or raw honey. Yes you can juice in your Vita-Mix and use a nut mylk bag to extract your juices.
We don't care how you fast... we want to support you... and in turn, we ourselves get supported... so please... join us!!!
Come on everyone.. join in the fun and grab your Elf, Dwarf, Hobbit or Human names for our "Fellowship of the Fasters"... you just make them up, it isn't from the book/movie. (if you want to participate) and put it in your signature line!
Ever wonder how the Fellowship began?
Back when I first began fasting there were the Fasting Bandits. This was a group of amazing people who fasted together all the time. The 'theme' was a convoy of truckers. I was the water tanker! :throwhearts: Over time the Fasting Bandits moved on with their lives and weren't around much at all. A few of the members are still here... but seldom fasting anymore.
I was missing the camaraderie of the FB and was always hoping to find a new group to fast with, find support with and to support myself. The Fellowship of Fasters began because Cathy and I watch the movie Lord of the Rings a LOT and we fast together a LOT as well. We began speaking to each other as though we were Golum - and our juice was our precious.
And then the Fellowship of Fasters was born!
So to be a member... you simply need to choose a name, put it in your signature line and love fasting. You can become a life-time member or one for a short time... it's up to you.
I'm here for the long haul. My water tanker is here beside me - because I'll always be a Fasting Bandit... but now my precious walks beside on a slower path than the truckers... enjoying the grass at my feet and the flowers growing out of the cracks and crevices in the rocks around me.

Ok, I took the liberty to start an October fasting thread. I know usually Aleesha does that but I'm sure she won't mind.
I plan to start tomorrow and fast for at least 10 days. I don't feel that strong about it but I really need it if you can feel me. So I hope I will have some support.
Love to hear from fellow fasters!!!!

I have been considering doing a 3 day juice fast for some time now. I got up Monday morning and had a juice, then by 11:00am realized that I had already been at 18 hours without anything so I decided to keep going at this point.
It has now been almost 36 hours. I have hypoglycemia so I need to be careful. But so far so good. My juices are all pretty much green:
Kale
Cucumber or Zucchini
Carrots
Spinach
Wheat Grass
Apple
It is rare that I have all fruit juice but while doing this fast I will have maybe one a day to break up the routine of vegs. Yesterday had:
Apple
Pineapple
Kiwi
Red Grapes
...that one could get addicting.
It was very strange not eating. I felt some hunger yesterday but it never increased or decreased. So far have not had any "detox" symptoms. I do have a bit of congestion but I feel that a cold/allergy was coming on anyway due to weather change here in the East.
Since this fast came on a bit unexpectedly, I need to get to the store quick and get more produce. My only concern is that a 3 day fast does not really do too much good since the body is just starting to detox. But will try this first and then maybe progress to 10 days.

Hi Jevans, good for you. I am happy that you are here. That way I don't feel so alone ;)
Actually I think a three day fast will do you good. Any fast is good even if it's a short one.
This is day one for me. I ate too much yesterday which I see as a weak thing. Like I need to 'stock up' or something. Ridiculous but I did it anyway.
I will do a 10 day fast for sure but maybe longer, depends a little bit on how the month will go. I have a wedding in WV to attend at the end of the month and I don't want to be fasting then.
I hope more people will join, lets get this party going!
:heart
Hanneke, what sort of fast are you doing? :)
Day 4 for me on the master cleanse. Just got in from university seminars, about to have my 3rd drink of the day.

I am doing a juice fast. I have never done any other fast but I am thinking a lot about a water fast lately. I might try that next spring.
I had a green juice this morning and a wonderful pineapple, apple, grapefruit and lime juice this afternoon. I also went for hot yoga, I had never done that before, loved it!
Hanneke

Very easy first day. I loved the hot yoga, will definitely do that more during this fast.
Somehow I think I am allergic or sensitive to raw tomatoes. I never have problems cooked but if I juice them I get nauseous and soon after that a lot of nasty crampy bowel movements. I am pretty sure it's the tomatoes. I love the taste but I guess I have to start thinking of a different concoction for my evening juice
Juice on!

I am on my 3rd day of the juice fast. Except for a white coating on my tongue (nasty taste in my mouth), I have experienced NO detox symptoms at all. I feel EXACTLY the same as day one. Don't feel tired or energized, sad or happy, etc...
I am having approx. 70 ozs. of juice per day. When I started on Monday morning, I was a little bit hungry. THAT amount of hunger has never left. It hasn't gotten worse or less. Very strange, psychologically.
I was originally going to do only three days due to a golf outing on Friday but would really like to go further. Just not sure it is wise to play golf while on the juice fast. Have lost about 6 lbs. since starting the fast.

Hello~ *s*
I am doing a two day juice fast today and tomorrow and then heading out of town to see my son. Will be back on Sunday, shopping on Monday and starting my fast in earnest. I loved the 30 day fast I did in July & August and after falling back into cruddy ways I am having a lot of pain again....THAT is my motivator....that and the fact that I felt amazing. It's been a crazy six weeks with traveling and having company, family stuff, etc...after this weekend I am ready for some me time.
Juice today-1 1/2 qts of kale, carrot, celery, beet, apple, lemon & ginger.
Will make a pineapple, cucumber, ginger if I want/need more.

Day seven here. I did the master cleanse for a few days but I'm back on juice now.
It's not going so well. This is the second time a really traumatic, stressful event has happened to me in the middle of the fast. It's not like these things happen every day, but twice now each time when I'm attempting to have a peaceful, healing fast?

Have you fasted before? I dont know but I do know how my own previous fasts are. Every one of them is different. Sometimes I feel exactly the same during the whole fast, sometimes I feel the bliss that I love and some fasts (thank goodness not too many) are just downright difficult and dreadful. Just keep on going and reach the goal you have set for yourself, that way it is always a success!

During my longer fast early this spring I had a bad car accident. I wasn't hurt but it was certainly very traumatizing. I kept on going and was happy that I did, it's not easy though. I would think it's probably a coincidence. I hope you keep going and joining us. I am happy you are here!

Day two and feeling good.
I did a kettlebell workout this morning. Last fast I played around with training a little bit more instead of just walking and it felt good. Probably because my body is used to it, I don't all of a sudden start training during a fast, that would probably be difficult. Not hungry at all right now.
I made my green juice early in the morning and drank it right away. Somehow I think the green juice changes taste if I keep it in a jar, I really don't like it. I made a pineapple, lime, watermelon juice for during the day. That one I don't mind drinking a few hours after I made it. I used to do it the other way around but this is better.
I also take one tablespoon of oil a day. Usually coconut oil or hemp oil
I am so happy more people are joining. Really made my day this morning. Thanks!!!

I had a death happen on day 5 of my master cleanse earlier this year.. I kept going, didn't waver, and peace hit even though I was grieving. Good luck, you can do it :D
I'm on day 5. Not feeling so good.

This is my first fast. I am on day 4. Originally only planned 3 days. Will probably break it today since have golf outing tomorrow and a pretty socially hectic weekend coming up. I really hate to break it since I feel that things really start to get going on day 3 (my opinion), but as mentioned in a previous post, I'm concerned about "weakness" if I continue during golf outing.
But so far lost another pound, have NO symptoms from detox, slept well. But the most ironic thing was I went to the grocery store without any cravings at all.
You know how they tell you to never go to a grocery store if you're hungry. I went (Wasn't too hungry) and got through it easily without any temptations.

Thanks guys. I kept going. Day 8 now. I was going to break the fast this morning (thought I'd just do a week) but I felt like I was having some detox symptoms last night (and there hasn't really been much detox so far) so I think I will keep juicing throughout half of today at least, maybe break it later tonight, or tomorrow morning. :)

You guys are all doing great! It's really encouraging to read your comments. Thanks so much for being here and supporting eachother.
I had my veggie juice again last night and it made me nauseous again, I did not have any tomato in it this time. So apparently it's something else. Maybe the cabbage? I put a lot of it in there yesterday so maybe I have to cut that out.
I'll try one that I always used to make and see if I"ll get nauseous again. I will make a sweet potato, fennel, garlic, green onion, some pepper and a cucumber blend.
Today is day 3 and I feel good. I really try to focus on the fact that I get more than enough nutrition and probably at least 1000-12000 calories per day. This is more than enough to sustain for quite a while without any troubles even with excercising. My worries and doubts usually occur in my head but I know I am doing a good thing and should be fine. I will probably do a 5/6 mile run this afternoon with my dog.
Juice on!

Day 4 and feeling a lot better than last night. I was truly very very hungry. OF course it will pass but you still have to work through it. Today is much better of course but then again I always feel good in the morning.
The mind is a peculiar thing that's for sure. If I intend to run 6 miles I always get tired at about 4 or 5 miles. But if I intend to run 30 miles I don't get tired until mile 15 or 16. The same is with fasting. If I intend to fast 21 days then the first ten are so easy, but if I am only gong to do 10 days then those days seem to last forever.
Anyway. Made a wonderful swiss chard juice this morning and a pineapple/w. melon/apple to go for today.

Ouch I guess I am really the only one fasting this month! Oh well I just keep on trucking baby!
I am on day 7 and feeling fantastic. It took me a little longer than normal to get over the hunger pangs but after day 5 I was ok. I am still a little hungry in the evening but with the volume of workouts that I do right now that is to be expected. I love my daily long walks with my dog, they really make me feel good.
Hope somebody will join me still!

I am going for a walk with my dog and enjoy the silence. It's thanksgiving here in Canada so people will be sleeping off their alcohol consumption.

Hi Everyone. I'm on day 11 of my fast. I'm planning for 60 days. The longest I've ever fasted before was 5 days and this fast has been drastically different. In my 5 day fast I only had veggie juice. This time I'm also using apples and lemons (so far) and it's been a million times easier.
So far I've had a smoothe ride with the exception of last night and today, although I'm feeling a lot better now.
I decided to finally write here in the forums and introduce myself in hopes that i'll help get me through the entire 60 days.
Hope everyone is having a really awesome day. <3

WELCOME MICHELLE
Great goal. And you seem to be doing great. Usually it is a busy place here but this month it is kinda slim. I guess more people are fasting in spring and summer than fall and winter. I really hope you'll get some more support because it works wonder. At least that's how I feel.
I am on day 8 of a 10 day juice fast. I would love to go longer especially because it gets so much easier after the first week but I have a big wedding to attend. It's my daughters and I am going to stay there a week so I don't want to be juice fasting then.
I am doing real good now. Friday and Saturday were difficult again. It felt like day 2 or 3, it is what it is I guess, every fast is different. I am training Kettlebells everyday and that feels right also.
Juice on!!

Hi Michelle and Hanneke. :) I'm only juice fasting for today, which is almost over and tomorrow, but still wanted to come check in here. Then I'll be starting raw, which is super exciting. Today went well. I had green juice of cuc, celery, collards, kale and gala apples. Tomorrow I definitely have a few different juices to choose from. I really liked the green juice today, because it wasn't too sweet and not too bitter or anything. It was very nice and subtle in its taste. Here's to the both of you and have a good one, wherever you are! :)

thanks for such a really lovely welcome!
today is day 13 of my 60(hopefully) day fast. so far so good. a few mental bumps yesterday but i just distracted myself and drank some water.
i'm doing this extended fast to (01) lose weight and (02) reset my eating once i get off the fast for the long haul. when i weighed myself this morning i was at 15.2 lbs lost thus far. so, so far so good.
hope everyone is having a great day. happy juicing.

Michelle, wow, that's a lot of weight loss. Good for you! Don't worry if you stall or even gain a little along your journey, it happens but is temporary.
I am on day 9 and kinda ready to break the fast. Somehow I had enough. I am not hungry though. I did a 6 mile run this morning and that went real good. Funny how my runs are a lot easier on a fast, don't know why that is.
I will for sure continue until tomorrow and then slowly transition again. I really want to keep under eating but I know that is easier said then done. In between my last few juice fasts I have been juicing in the morning and did not eat until at least 2pm. I am now thinking about 1 week fast per month, that will mean I will be back here every month. I don't know yet. Like I said before, winter is coming and -40 temperatures are quite common here. Don't know if I can fast through that.
Thanks for the company!

I'm done with my juice fast. It's been a different experience again. I realise that a juice fast is not really a fast. I get more than enough calories and nutrients to sustain a very active lifestyle. I've been working my kettlebells pretty hard which takes a ton of energie and I was fine. I am going to try a short water fast next. Not long but more on a regular basis. I would think about a 36 hr water fast every week.
I'll definitely be back here fasting with you.

Congratulations, Hanneke! I just read through the comments on this thread and am very inspired by your juice fast, especially when you were the only one on the thread for a few days! It's hard to continue on without support, but you did great and kept trucking... and I am so glad that others are fasting now, too. I am starting tomorrow (saturday). My fridge is stocked with raw fresh pressed juices as well as a variety of greens and 10 lbs of lemons. I am ready! My goal for this fast is to go for 15 days. My reason for fasting is that my body is simply craving one. All I've thought about for the past few weeks is juice! Social plans and general procrastination kept me from fasting, but now I am beyond ready and willing to commit. I've done several fasts before... maybe this is my 10th one or so. Each one is a different experience and I am so excited to see what this one brings!
Yay! :excited:

Welcome, Rawmom! How many days will you be water fasting? I've never done one before. Do you drink juice for a few days in advance to prep for it?
Today was a successful day one. I'm always hungriest and craving the most foods on the first day, because my mind tries to play tricks on me and tell me "it's okay if you eat today... you can start over tomorrow". So to make it past today is a relief! I made all of my juices at home... greens with apple, lemon, ginger and then grapefruit, pear, sweet potato. That's not a lot of juice for one day, but it's all I had time for. Drank a TON of water, though.
It's amazing how great I already feel. I love juicing!!!
Hope everyone had a wonderful day...

Love to see more people here!
I am doing a 40 hour water fast. Basically from Sunday night about 8 pm until Tuesday morning 11 am or noonish. Should be easy because it has two sleeps in it. It is my plan to keep this going over the winter on a weekly basis. Then I will do another longer juice fast in spring. I read it can be very beneficial to do this. I also juice daily every morning and don't eat until the afternoon. I really like that too.
Stay strong!

Hi everyone,
It's so strange to see so few people on this thread. Usually there are so many fasters each month! Oh well. I'm glad to see a few of us on here at least!
Today is the end of day 3 for me. I am feeling a bit hungry. So many benefits have taken place already... skin is looking great - a few blemishes I had been fighting are now gone. I am sleeping so much better - normally I toss and turn for hours, wake up sweating, etc. And I only had one day of a detox/caffeine withdrawal headache. So that is good! Also I am down 4.5 lbs. Not doing this for weight loss, but it's nice to see some of the bloat being released. I just keep thinking about food, smelling food, wanting to eat food. I have to keep juicing until all of those urges go away!

I'm about 24 hours into my 40 hr planned water fast. This is a breeze, so simple too! I don't have to prepare anything. I love it!
I ran 6 miles today and that felt great. I love the fact that running or working out always suppresses feeling a bit hungry. It comes back of course but not too bad after just one day. And tomorrow I can eat something again.
Hope more people will join!

Good morning!
40 hr water fast is almost over and was extremely easy. I definitely am going to keep that as a habit once a week. Even my run was easy and did not make me more hungry.
I hope you all have a great day. Stay strong if you are fasting!

Hi all, just checking in. I plan on juice fasting for two days starting tomorrow. We'll see how it goes, but the plan is to stick to it! I really enjoy short juice fasting vs. extended ones. They work better for me at this point. Two days is a breeze and I did it last week, so I feel pretty good about it!
Since I just can't do a juice fast without pineapple juice that's where I'm headed today, to buy a few! I also want to pick up some cucs and celery. It's great that I pretty much have the other things I'll be needing. I like the fact that juice fasting just changes things...stirs things up....let's you start refreshed and renewed with more motivation to meet your goals. I'll check back tomorrow!
Have a great day all! :excited:

Henneke... amazing that you ran 6 miles on a water fast! Most people say water fasting is very hard, but you make is sound quite enjoyable! I'd like to try that someday. Currently I only drink about 2 juices a day when I fast (32 ounces total)... the rest water. So I bet I could aim for a one day water fast! It still intimidates me, though. You're very inspirational! Congrats!
Shel, I totally agree on everything you say about how fasting stirs things up. When I break this fast, I'd like to do 1-2 days per week fasting. Just one day makes you feel like a whole new person... cravings gone, body and mind refreshed, ready to be healthy and happy. Glad you'll be checking in for your 2 days!
I'm about to retire from day 4 here. I am feeling awesome! Hunger pangs are gone, cravings are definitely gone, and weight... 7 pounds of it, gone! Dry skin... gone. Bad mood and depression... gone. I was eating very poor SAD foods prior to this fast and felt terrible. I'm so glad I am getting back on track now. People are telling me that this juice fast is extreme, but I laugh and say that the crap I ate prior to this was extreme. This fasting is as natural and easy as it gets. Joy!
Hi all,
Glad to read your post Lady Laka. I'm so glad you finished your fast! It's amazing what a few days can do and that's why I plan to juice fast two days out of the week until I meet my weight/fitness/health goals then juice fast once a week indefinitely. That's the plan, anyway (laughing).
I've had a green juice thus far today. I've got plenty of pineapple juice, a grapefruit orange juice, pom juice and some water to last me this entire day. Takes some perseverance to juice poms. I sort of love the pom juice that squirts everywhere as you're juicing, hehehe.
Well, yuuuuup, onward for this day 1 of this 2 day juice fast! :)

Your juices sound so yummy! I'm actually still fasting!
Finishing up day 5 now. Loving it! I'm going for 10 days
total, then hoping to do 1-2 days a week like you are. Keep
up the good work! :)
Oh cool! It's so quiet here. :) 10 days sounds lovely! :encore: Yesterday was a bit of a challenge as I was tired and irritable, but I made it! I've enjoyed juicing up some veggies that were on there way out instead of trashing them or being able to compost like I'd really like.
What kind of juices have you been making NY? I def' don't think it's extreme and yes, it's more extreme to me anyway, eating SAD all the time. I'm right there with you. I'm not looking back either. Time to move on!
Have a great day! :excited:

Um yeah it is REALLY quiet in here. So strange. Must be because our fearless group leader Aleesha isn't fasting right now... she tends to get a lot of followers!
I've been making a lot of green juices with apple and my favorite this week has been grapefruit, sweet potato and pear. I also love orange, lime, cilantro. I've also done pineapple orange too, but that is way too sweet for me! I've had one apple carrot ginger and will probably have another tomorrow. I tend to juice the same old things. Could use something new. What do you juice?
End of day 6 here! Today I was hungry, tired and irritable. So glad it's time for bed!
Yes, I also make sure I do a green juice (love cucs and celery in it) with some kind of apple and tend toward sweet-sweet and sour juices such as pineapple juice, grapefruit and orange, pom and apple orange. Yeah! Yesterday I made an apple orange juice and whooooa, it was waaay too sweet. I had to dilute it. Sickeningly sweet is too much for me. :holysheep:
I finally realized to stop adding so many apples to my green drink so now they're way less sweet and more mild tasting...though I still can't and don't want to taste green veggies completely. I really would like to explore savory green drinks but I haven't had the courage.
So, I completed my day two and am going back to the month long raw board, but I'll come back and check on you! It's my goal to juice fast twice a week so next week I'll be back at it anyway.
The BEST to you. :cheer:

you are so sweet to continue checking in on me, haha! Thank you... And congratulations on your 2 days of fasting! Like you, I do not like the taste of greens so I use a good amount of apples to cut the bite down. If you find any savory green recipes that you like, let me know! We have similar taste... sweet, but not TOO sweet.
Best of luck as you continue your raw journey!

just checking in! today is day 23 of my juice fast. here are my updates:
(01) can't really say where my weight is at because my scale has gone crazy and is reading a different weight every time I get on. very annoying. ordered a new scale but it wont get here until maybe thursday, so I'm going to try to avoid weighing myself until then to help avoid any discouragement.
(02) the fast is going ok all things considered although I'm now sick. I don't know how it's possible to be sick on a fast, but leave it to my body to figure it out, lol. Me and my husband are dealing with a cold and a killer cough. I think I'm doing better than he is although I'm coughing up gross phlegm. :\

Hi, I am so glad I found this forum last night. I've read a lot and found a lot of juicing recipes that I want to try. I started my first day juicing today. I'm 277.2 lbs... my goal is 135 lbs. I don't have any set days in mind of how long I will juice, but I'm hoping (like Joe Cross on his movie: Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead) that it will only take 4 or 5 months. I am thinking of doing a small break for one meal on the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, but that's it. Christmas isn't a big meal or anything I am really crazy about, but then I plan on jumping right back into juicing. I may not even want to at Thanksgiving, but we'll see. Anyhoo... right now I'm working on a mini organic watermelon and 6 strawberries juiced. It's frothy, which I don't care for, but other than that, it's ok.. I probably should have added more strawberries.. but it did make 64 oz. of juice. I'm drinking the first half right now in a 32 oz. cup... so I'm working on it. I hope there's others still juice fasting this month. Otherwise, I'll be on my own posting here. lol
Hi all,
NyButterfly, I hope things are going well for you! No savory juices found yet, lol. Michelle and Loving, welcome and the best to both of you on your journeys. I"ll be in and out of this forum, but def' plan to juice fast this coming Thursday and Friday....twice a week juice fasting is my goal for now. This will be my third time doing it, and I'm pretty proud of myself.
I hope you feel better Michelle and congrats on your day 1 Loving! :woot:

Thanks, Shel.
I just made something really yummy for lunch/snack... Mock v-8 juice... it's so good. It's almost like a tomato soup to me... but very, very good. Way better than the watermelon/strawberry juice I made this morning. Maybe next time I'll leave out the rind... not sure yet. lol Best of luck to you on your juice fast this week!

Welcome Michelle, Loving, and Dreadhead! Glad to see more faces on this thread!
Michelle, maybe part of being sick is detox? When I did my first fast ever I went for 25 days, and by the end I was coughing up disgusting amounts of phlegm. It lasted weeks. I think my body just needed to expel all of the bad stuff that the fast loosened/awakened inside. Either way, I hope that you feel better soon! And congrats on 23 days... that's awesome!
Loving... congrats on day one! I find the first few days are always the hardest, but if you can get through them you can get through a hundred more. Just be careful should you choose to eat on Thanksgiving. At that point you'll be close to 4 weeks of fasting... your body will only be able to handle very small amounts of raw produce. My first fast unintentionally ran into Thanksgiving, but I was so into the fast that I had no trouble sipping my way through the holiday. Hardly anyone noticed, they were so obsessed with the food!
Shel, thanks for checking in on me! Right now is the end of day 9 for me, and my plan was to go for 10 days. I'm almost there! I haven't been thinking much about food lately... but I'm ready to move on to fasting just a few days a week like you do. This has been a great fast so far. Never felt too weak or tired, was always in a great mood, and lost a pound a day. I love this feeling.
Stay strong and healthy, everyone!

Hey
Just thought I'd chip in with what I'm doing.... On day 8 or day 5, depending on how you look at it as I had a bit of a carb fest one night (which I deeply regretted) but I woke up the next day and pressed on with my fast, thank god. So, here I am...surprisingly, I am feeling at my weakest today as I have so far had lots of energy and have been doing plenty of walking and just going about my normal day at uni...but today its raining, really bad, so maybe that has something to do with it! Anyway, I'm stopping the fast on saturday as my family are visiting for my birthday, then next wednesday I hope to do another 3 day water fast then a 2 day juice fast over the weekend, then starting 7th november back on solids...fingers crossed, Im really hoping to stick to it!

I'm so bummed, I typed up a post last night and it disappeared. Ah well, here I am again!
I'm on day 3 of a 6 day juice fast. I juice fasted earlier in the month and my chronic knee pain disappeared. When I finally introduced cooked (SAD vegan) foods, the pain came back. So, now I'm on a juice fast again to get the inflammation down, and then I'll be transitioning to raw foods.
Happy to fast with you all! I'm sipping on an interesting concoction this morning - collards, celery, cucumber, apples, lemon, ginger. We (hubby and I) usually drink this juice with kale or chard instead of collards - have to say I'm not a fan of the collards. They add a strange sort of twang.
But I'm sipping away! Hope you are all fasting well!

Yeah, I figure I won't even wanna eat at Thanksgiving.. but seeing everyone else eating will be hard.. or maybe it won't be... I'm hoping it won't be. I've lost 3.6 lbs. as of this morning. I'm on day 2 now.. bring it on!

I'm on day 4, feeling a little headachy this morning. But otherwise feeling great - yoga last night felt amazing, so much energy!
Hi all,
Glad to see some new peeps on here. :) I plan to do a two day juice fast Thurs and Friday and man I'll be glad to start to shake things up! I haven't been having much of an appetite since Monday, which isn't all that great when I'm trying to build muscle! Anyway, I hope everybody makes it through your detox symptoms. Take it easy and keep on keepin' on! See y'all soon!

VeganSara,
I've woken up with a headache the last 2 days... my mom (an RN who was vegetarian for years) says it's detox and it will pass.

I didn't wake up with a headache today. I did take a lot of tylenol yesterday. It's really hard for me to focus at work, let alone do anything at work when I have an all-day headache. I still had the headache when I went to bed last night, but didn't wake with one this morning. However, I only lost .2 lbs. I'm at a loss. I'm not sure why only .2 lbs., but I will take the loss no matter why. Oh, I'm on my period too. Maybe that's why I didn't have much of a loss.

No headache for me this morning either! I'm feeling very over my juices though . . . I didn't have as much variety this time and I am feeling like I should have because I am not feeling it.
I've got some stuff in the dehydrator for me to take on my vacation tomorrow so I'll have raw goodies to transition. It smells so good in my place I'm glad to be at work and away from the smell!
I have just a few more juices to get down today, I can do this. :)

Yes, you can do it. I'm pondering how I'm going to transition when I'm done.. what I'm going to transition to. I really don't have any major cravings yet. I'm trying to be creative with my juices and trying to get greens in daily.
Hi all,
I hope your detox headache lessens Loving and good luck transitioning back to foods Vegan. Man, I'm looking forward to juice fasting Thur and Fri! My appetite is still pretty whack right now. Hmmm, *imagining some yummy pineapple juice...YUMMO. Have a GREAT day all! :)
Hi all,
No posts yet today???? :) Well, I'm juice fasting today and tomorrow. Today I have about 3 qts of juice. One is a green drink of rainbow chard, celery, cucs, granny smith apples, lemon and a golden delicious apple. It is a bit sour, yet still refreshing. My liver likes it, I'm sure. :)
For later I have gala apple and orange juice and a little over a qt of pineapple juice. I LOVE pineapple juice! I feel pretty good today too....maybe detox symptoms haven't kicked in yet for juice fasting, lol. Anyway, will check back periodically to see if anyone has posted! It's quiet in here!
Have a great day!
