I've been on a fruit-only fast for 6 days now eating mainly grapes, strawberries, watermelon, mango, and apples. I began this diet to try to cure a skin condition & redness that I have and I can tell that my body has been detoxing because my tongue has been coated white this whole time. I've also been feeling pretty sluggish and have had headaches on occasion. I think I'm going to keep this up for 10 days. So far no major change in the skin rash but I also used to flush easily and frequently (my face would get bright red just from bending over) and I haven't flushed since beginning this new diet.
I also have quite red, sometimes purpleish even, knuckles and knees and my face is always quite red. The rash itself is just bumps all over my body, mainly on my legs and back of arms.
Does anyone have any experience with this kind of skin condition or with fruit-only fasting too?

Cool beans. I am doing an elimination diet. For days 1-3 I will be drinking nothing but orange juice (4 glasses a day) plus a ton of water throughout the day. Days 4-5 I will be doing nothing but fruit and juices. Days 6-11 it will be fruit, juice, and salads. Hopefully, I will be cleaned out from that.

Good luck on your fruit fast and keep us up to date as to how you are doing. I am very interested.

My husband has cleared up his life-long skin condition drinking coconut water. Problem is, it does come back awhile after he stops sooo, what you're doing is probably a better idea ~ getting to the root of it. Yet, consider adding coconut water and see if that helps some.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record . . . You might find Dr. Robert Morse's videos on YouTube helpful. His channel is robertmorsend. I'm on day 2 of a grape, lemon & melon fast (the most astringent and cleansing of fruits according to the good Doctor). He does address skin conditions on his videos. He has over 200 vids now, so finding a specific video is difficult. Or you can do what I've done - watch them all! I'm hooked. *Ü*

I wish that I could play UTube on my computer. Alas, I have dial-up. It takes me 20 mins to watch a 2 minute video. UGH!! We can't get fast speed where I live unless I shell out beaucoup bucks for satellite.

Thanks for the input everyone. DebB, I have been watching some of his videos and find them very helpful. I ordered some of his herbs as well and look forward to experienting with them. So far the redness in my face seems to be getting less and less apparent so im feeling pretty optimistic about this whole thing. My 10th day on this fruit fast is tomorrow so I think after that I will go back on the raw food diet but resume the fruit fast once I get those herbs

belladonna ~ I'm sorry to hear you can't watch YT videos? How do you make it through the day???!! (wink!) I admit to being a YT addict... Our little town only had dial-up too until just a few years ago. Oh happy day! ;)

TheRalex ~ I'm very excited as I've got a telephone consult appt. with Dr. Morse in less than 3 weeks. He's pretty booked and schedules almost 3 months out. I've ordered the Detox kits 1,2 & 3,4 which arrived Monday. I started taking them and fasting on Tuesday.

After listening to his videos, my husband and I started all fruit during the day with some type of raw (vegan) veggie/salad for dinner. But now that my herbs are here, I wanted to kick it up a notch or "wear the robe" as Dr. M says :) We've also got his book, which I found very easy to understand.

If you're interested, there's a "Fans of Dr. Robert Morse ND" Facebook page you can visit or join. He's not on it - just us fans :)

My husband is seeing an improvement in his psoriasis, but he does remain 'neutral' since the psor. waxes and wanes anyway. We're ordering his detox kits tomorrow - I'm pretty darn excited. This doctor is what I've been searching for.

DebB - it's my cross to bear. Sigh.

On day 3 of my fast. I haven't been all that hungry but this afternoon I broke down and had some grapes. Tomorrow I am on all fruit anyway. Bowel movements have been slow (TMI??) so I started taking some Herbal Fiberblend and that has helped. Eating more fruit again will help I am sure. Other than that, not too much in the way of a healing crisis> YET!!! I am very sick of OJ though. I will have real oranges tomorrow. Salivating.

Stay tuned.

Dr. Morse (my new best friend) says that grapes are the most astringent & detoxifying off all foods. Followed by lemons. So I think if you were eating something - grapes was the way to go! (And the darker the better on grapes says he).

I'm on Day 4 of my detox. I'm taking Dr. M's detox kit and having grapes, grape juice (2 qts), lemon (sometimes in the grape juice if the grapes are really sweet - or just mixed with water) and watermelon juice(1-1.5 qt). It's really breaking up and pulling mucus (which is the name of the game). I'm sorry if that grosses anyone out.

I haven't had any healing crisis (yet?) but my husband has. He's not on the herbs (his were ordered today), but he does drink Dr. M's "Heal All Tea" 3 times a day. He's had flu& cold like symptoms very hard that have lasted almost 7 days, his shoulders are aching, he's coughing stuff up (he has COPD) and getting out old very dark mucus when doing sinus flushes. I think all h*e*double toothpicks is going to break loose when he goes on the detox herbs. He's eating fruit all day long and then a raw vegan low-fat/fat free veggie salad for dinner.

Let the good times roll! *Ü*

Yeah, detox is a barrel of laughs but oh the great feeling when you are through it. Feel like a teenager again. Mucus is what really messes us up. Mucus is natural but our diet produce so much excess mucus and it gums up the works so to speak. Why do we do this to ourselves? Dumb sheep.

There will be lots of mucus caused from years of dairy. Being raised on a dairy farm in northern Illinois, well - I'm sure I've got my share.

I'm not doing this detox to lose weight, however this morning (day 5) I'm down 6#. That's nice to see, but again, I'm doing this for the detox and not weight loss. I have to admit when I did the Master Cleanse it was for the weight loss, my bad.

I've got some challenges in a family dinner tonight, a raw food potluck tomorrow and jury duty 80 miles away on Wednesday. That's okay, I've got a plan and will stick to it. *Ü*

How is your fast coming along TheRalex?

Well I've been noticing that when I wake up in the morning the redness on my face is very faded, more so than I've seen in years! But once I eat the first fruit meal of the day, the redness comes back a bit so I feel like I'm headed in the right direction with this. I finished my 10 day fruit fast yesterday and now I am doing fruit all day with a salad at night.

I live in Canada and thanksgiving is this weekend and the thought of turkey is just too good so I may allow myself to cheat for that. But, I ordered some herbs from doctor Morse that are scheduled to arrive next wednesday and when they do I am going to start a grape fast and destroy this skin condition for good!

DebB, I only ordered adrenal, stomach & bowels, lymphatic, and kidney formulas as well as the heal-all tea. Do you think that will suffice? I may end up ordering the detox kits but to get all of them would be really expensive...

That's what I was doing too TheRalex - fruit all day and a raw veggie (low fat for me) salad at night until my herbs got here. Oooh Thanksgiving! It sounds like you've got a handle on it and better to eat the turkey now than after the herbs arrive, right? ;)

I'm sorry, but I'm just not that familiar with the herbs to advise you. Have you called & spoken with his staff? They're trained by him (from what I understand) and will guide you.

I wanted to get a jump start while waiting for my telephone appointment which is why I chose to go ahead and start on the Detox Kits. During my appt. Dr. M will lay out a herb treatment plan after reading my health information and talking with me. I've got definite issues, mostly endocrine related that I'm hoping the herbs will cure cuz allopathic medicine hasn't cured me that's for sure :) I'm thinking Dr. M will probably put me on glandulars too.

Yes, I agree - it's expensive, but so was the BOAT load of supplements I was taking (sigh) - which I've stopped after listening to him and reading his book...

My husband is starting on the detox kits when his arrive next week too, along with a juice fast. He has plaque psoriasis (for all his adult life, he's 57 years old) and he wants it CURED. So I understand what you're saying. I do recall him saying in his videos that the redness like in rosacea (sp) is the acid in our body coming out through the skin. Makes sense. Same with psoriasis or any other skin disorder. The information he gives is what I've been searching for for a long time now.

I hope you'll keep posting - I find this all so interesting!

Today I had fruit all day and a salad before enjoying some turkey dinner for thanksgiving. This dinner made my stomach feel very uncomfortable, it basically felt like I had ate a brick that would sit in my stomach for eternity.
Also, my face got quite flushed after this meal for the first time in a couple of weeks (I used to flush frequently but did not flush once on the all fruit fast) - This is just more reinforcement that fruit is the way to go.

Herbs should be here soon and with their arrival I am starting a grape fast.

My family dinner last night and the raw food potluck today went very well - I just ate my grapes... I also have watermelon juice and grape juice. Today I made a drink with 2 yellow delicious apples and a whole lemon (organic) skin & all through the juicer. Wow - that was tart, but tasted better than just mixing the lemon juice with water.

I've never fasted before to speak of. 8 days of the Master Cleanse last year is all I've done. But there's a calm that's come over me during this fast. I was hungry today, but nothing sounded good. I'll just take it a day at a time and see what happens.

Just tossing this in - I started off with buying a case of organic grapes which were $35 for 18 pounds. But, I can no longer get any dark organic grapes through my grocery store. So, I've gone with non-organic from Costco @ $6.79 for a 5# container. I wash them according to Dr. M's suggestion. I can soak 15# in my sink filled with water and I add 1 teaspoon food grade hydrogen peroxide (not the inexpensive h.p. from the drug store), the juice of 1 lemon and 1 tablespoon salt. Let the produce soak for a couple minutes, give it a light scrub (I can't do this step with grapes) and rinse well.

Herbs are here and grape fast has begun! I'm not sure how long I will be fasting for, but probably about 20 days or so. DebB, how is your fast going?

DebB
10-14-2011, 11:08 AM
Woohoo! You got your herbs!

I had to end my grape (watermelon juice & lemon) fast on Day 8. I was on day 4 of a headache and ended up vomitting and that pretty much ended that. I tried the grapes again, but I couldn't get them down.

Well, today is day 3 off the fast and I think I'll be able to start it up again - or at least do it during the day and have a raw veggie dinner.

I feel good having got in what I did. I will try grapes again today.

How are you doing with it?

Is anyone still doing the fruit/herb fast? I started doing it yesterday. I have had a mild headach. Detox obviously. I am impressed with the quick result.
