View Full Version : A Second Attempt

Hey, I'm Jacob, and I'm not really new to the raw vegan diet. I've actually found it really hard having this lifestyle (vegan/raw vegan/vegetarian) as I'm the only person I know who eats this way. It makes it very hard to eat with family when they are into such large consumptions of fast food!

Back in March I actually went raw vegan for 2 weeks, but found it hard to keep at it for my picky eating habits. I find most foods bitter and unsatisfing, and tend to dislike sweets. Recently though, with an operation coming up, I decided to make another attempt, for at least one month at going raw vegan.

I went vegetarian when I was 18, and am now 20 years old. I'm an on and off vegan, as one of the few things I enjoy happens to be hot chocolate and have yet to find a good subsitute, but I'm giving it all up for better health and because recently my skin took a turn for the worse, and I always used to have close to flawless skin. I don't really mind it, but it's other people pointing it out that bothers me.

When I was nine I watched my grandma die from diabeties. My mom is boderline diabetes and that's the last thing I want to do to myself! I want to ensure that one day if I have a family that I don't put them through the same thing, and I figure if I date a health nut, there won't be anything to worry about. I've been eating a LOT of junk food lately, stuffing my face without a care and haven't been working out, I think I've had home made fries at least once a day for the past week... sad stuff.

Anyways that's about all for my introduction, just thought I'd share before I start posting throughout the forums. I won't be starting until the first of October as I have a lot of groceries to do prior to this diet change. I can't screw this up. I'm most likely finding out my surgery date on the 19th, but it will be before February so I have .5-4 months to get healthy. I want to feel my best before going in for a major operation to increase my chances for a good recovery.
