View Full Version : Fenugreek for odor control

I saw a video recently where Brian Clement mentioned how eatting fenugreek can keep you from getting body odor. I know a lot of you don't have to use deodorant anymore because you've been eatting a raw food diet for so long, but I figured I'd share this information anyway for those who are transitioning and still have body odor. I googled it and one person said, "I eat a half teaspoon of fenugreek seeds for "odor control" regularly, and have for decades. I can go from skunky to honey overnight." I think Brian Clement might have been talking about eatting in sprouted form though. Anyway, might be worth trying.

That's interesting. I use a crystal rock but I've noticed that even if I forget, I don't stink... unless I've eaten too much garlic for too many days in a row. :) Thanks for sharing this!

A few months ago I'd gotten some sprouted fenugreek seeds and even though I didn't like the taste so much, I found things I could tolerate them on so I could test the affects. I STANK after eating them - kind of a sweet incensey smell. I would rather have some underarm stank than have the smell of fenugreek coming out all over my body.
I'm experimenting now with various coconut oil/essential oil combinations for body odor. Since coconut oil is anti-bacterial and body odor is caused by bacteria, I would think that using coconut oil would eliminate smell?

Oh, CaraS, you absolutely must try baking soda. After your underarms are washed, while still wet put a little powdered baking soda onto some wet fingers and rub under arms. During the summer, I also combine a little coconut oil and essential oil - lavender.

I have tried baking soda under my arms before and it irritated my skin. My skin would get red and burn. I tried corn starch and it didn't work. Not to say these things don't work for other people, everybody's different. Mary said she sometimes combines baking soda with a little coconut oil. Now that's an idea, might keep it from burning.

Yeah, I have also heard that it isn't actually your sweat that stinks but the bacteria that's attracted to it. So I have tried a couple of natural deodorants that had things in them with anti-bacterial properties. But, they didn't work for me. Maybe you'll have better luck with coconut oil though. I started to wonder if anti-bacterial ingredients repell bacteria, or if they kill bacteria. Because if it just kills bacteria then it probably wouldn't get rid of the smell. Then you would just have dead stinky bacteria under your arms.
I have recently been using something similar to the rock crystal. I think it is the same thing (same ingredients) but is in liquid form. It is called 'naturally fresh deodorant crystal'. Unlike the rock crystal, you don't have to get it wet, you just roll it on. It seems to work better than anything else i've tried. Adobegirl said that she uses the rock crystal but even when she forgets she doesn't stink. In my case, I have to use it ever day or I do stink. Sometimes I use it twice a day.

I have the funniest image of some lady (I'm assuming your a lady) walking around a store and people diving out of the way to avoid the smell of fenugreek.

Not sure how 'lady-like' I am but yes, that would be the mental image. If only I could have dived out of the way of my own skin!

When I first started on this journey, the crystal rock was not enough for me and I used that in combination with a natural deodorant (that was not a antiperspirant). As I detoxed more, I was able to just use the crystal rock, but I had to wash my arm pits a couple times a day and reapply (just reapplying did not work for me as the crystal rock didn't take away the odor). Now, I just use the crystal rock. I don't know the scientific reasons for it, but I do think detox and the kinds of foods eaten have a lot to do with it. In the beginning, my body was so out of balance and was so toxic and diseased and I think that had a lot to do with why it wasn't enough for me back then.
When I go through periods of time where I crave fresh garlic, it starts to come out my pores and then I stink no matter what (thankfully I can't smell it, but my daughter tells me, lol).
Life is a journey, even with our arm pits. :excited:
