RAW chayote

has anyone tried chayote squash raw? It's quite nice except for the sap on the outside. I wonder if soaking it in lime will get rid of that.

I bought one, but haven't eaten it yet. I saw someone on tv quickly blanch it after it had been sliced. I was gonna try it raw as well.
