Did you switch overnight or transition?

if you transitioned how did you transition and how long did it take you to get to the diet that you knew would make you feel your best/heal you of what you want to heal?

and which method would you recommend to somebody else?

Hmmm. That is a good question! I think that as for a good method it really just depends on what your body is telling you! If cravings are driving you nuts then maybe a slower approach. For anyone starting out I would say to take it easy. I found it overwhelming to try to make things that were familiar. I DEMANDED that things be the same! Now I know that simplicity takes better. It takes time to cleanse your pallet and learn new foods, but stick with it and you will do fine. I think that I heard from a religious group once to give them seven weeks and they could change my life. I think that it is the same with this lifestyle (although raw foodism is not a religion). Give it 7-10 weeks. What's the worst that could happen? You find out that you like some new food?

As for me ...

I was a vegan before I was a raw foodist so a transition was easier for me than someone who ate SAD. I do have OCD that manifests in me wanting to chew things. Shirts, pillow cases while I sleep, pen caps, and yes ... food. Learning new textures to fulfill that need without making it go overboard was hard. I cheated quite a bit the first 5 days or so until I found some fruit/veggie combos that filled my chewing need.

Other than the initial 5 days of cheating and then about 2 weeks of 90%ish raw food (the other 10% being cooked rice and vegetable soup) I feel like I just jumped into 100% fairly quickly. I am an "all or nothing" kind of person so it just fit my personality to jump in.

I know that I am on the right path for my body. However, that path is always changing. Humans are adaptable beings and we change as the situation changes and we gain new knowledge! I will always be changing, but I will always be raw.

switched over-night. I agree with keeping it simple; it just makes so much sense.

Also switched overnight. For me, it was simpler to do it that way, and focus only on raw.

I also switched overnight. It was easier for me to not be making up excuses initially to eat cooked foods... And I think I'm benefiting in the long term because my body only wants raw food now!

From the time that I discovered raw foods and decided that I would be 100% raw, it took me 8 years of trying it and giving up, and finally I made an overnight change. I have been 99%-100% raw now for 8 years. Yay! :)

I transitioned. I was already eating lots of fresh fruits & veggies & had not eaten meat for over 10 years but was still eating fish & dairy & other non raw foods. When I started to transiton to raw, I got raw goats milk from a local farmer. I ate morstly raw for breakfast & lunch but dinner usually consisted of something like sauteed veggies & quinoa. I stopped eating fish at this time too.

After a few weeks I gave up the raw goats milk and stopped cooking my dinners.

Once going raw I felt amazing, constant, good energy & all of my RA symptoms went away(which now I wonder if it wasn't actually RA but a milk allergy) as did my migraines and any other just not right feelings.

I wouldn't recommend one way over another, I think everyone is different and you have to do what works for you.
