Hi there,

I apologize if this is not the right area to ask this. At the risk of being laughed at, allow me to say a few things first. I'm currently living in the U.S. I wasn't born and raised here. I have only been here for about 3.5 years. I come from the other side of the world where everything I ate was locally grown, no preservatives, meat was bought fresh from the butcher shop, there was no fluoride in water! We drank well water directly from earth! And generally I felt very healthy and felt like I had a clear mind.

Now that I'm here, I seem to have been affected with lot of "modern" problems. Mentally, I don't feel that clear. Sometimes I feel depressed,
hyper, and been sick a lot and oh the stomach pains. I feel so tired all the time. I remember being so energetic before I came here.

After doing a complete analysis of my life, I have come to the realization that I personally haven't changed at all. I still do the same things I always did. The only difference is the environment and the food that I eat. And after doing some research, I have been open to the world of chemicals and preservatives and fluoride and what not! I have decided to take back control of my life and eliminate one chemical at a time - Starting with fluoride and going to a more raw food diet and away from all the preservatives.

I understand water in the U.S is treated with fluoride. I don't want it. How do I get rid of fluoride from my water? I understand Reverse osmosis systems are the best? Money is not an issue. I read some reviews on some of the products while some had good reviews, there were some really detailed bad ones too, like the ones in Amazon with systems putting out high pH water! Some of the bad reviews made me feel like you can't trust any company or product these days. I mean you are placing your trust in a filter system to purify the water but how do you know for sure? Are there easy tests you can do? I understand it's a big commitment to live your life this way but I just wanna feel like I did before. And I'm willing to do what is needed. Anyone here familiar with reverse osmosis systems? Any one here tried any? Can you recommend something that is good? And generally any advice regarding getting rid of fluoride in water!

Thank you

I purchased this one. I like it.

From what I understand, not all municipalities do fluoridation. First you want to check if your local water supply has it. Your city should be able to provide for you with the detailed analysis of the municipal water supply for your area.

Personally I drink RO water that I purchase from my local grocery store. It is only 39 cents pre gallon to refill my 5 gallon bottles. I use this for drinking and cooking. It may be easier and less expensive to get a water cooler for your home and refill it from an inexpensive source.

We just recently purchased the RO-45 from the same place January got hers from. http://www.freedrinkingwater.com/ro-45-detail.htm We are very happy with the system though we wished we would have purchased the larger tank (14 gal instead of the 4 gal) at the time we got it. Apparently our water wasn't near as bad as some I've seen reported, only 185 ppm, but we know they add chlorine and fluoride to the water here. The RO water is less usually less than 10 ppm now, sometimes as low as 4 ppm. It tastes and smells so much better! We'll never go without one again. City water is horrible!

They included a water tester with the system. We tested the Culligan RO water we usually get at Walmart and that tested as 0 ppm so we're pretty happy about it, and we don't have to carry 45 lb. 5 gallon jugs around all the time. Plus we're starting to sprout and we'd need a lot more water than what we usually use.

We've been using reverse osmosis water since the early 1980s. Our first unit was a Culligan - at the time they were pretty much the only show in town. When we replaced it (about 20 years ago), we bought an RO unit from Sears. Still chuggin' along :)

SunshineMN - thanks for the tip that Walmart's water is RO! I've seen the refill stations, but didn't know it was RO water. That tip will come in handy! *Ü*

Deb, I'm not sure if WalMart has an agreement with Culligan or not, they may use other vendors in other areas. The filling station on ours has Culligan's logo on it. The other local mid-west grocery chain store has a refill station serviced by a different company and it doesn't taste as clean so we never refill there. We should stop and get a sample to test some time, just for curiousity's sake.

TDS meters aren't very expensive. You can find them on Amazon for $15-30. If we hadn't gotten ours free with the RO filter, we'd have purchased one to test it ourselves. :)

Ahh - thanks for that tip! I'll be sure and look to see who's doing the reverse osmosissing! ;)
