Ok,A health guy(Who thinks going raw is BS for me) I know just told me heavily juicing ,these juices contain high levels of salts, oxalic, phosphoric and more which will get my system full. Which will damage my kidneys, and block my bile secretion,F***ing up my liver. thoughts?

I think he is BS. Define "health guy" my parents are "health people" and have been on every crash diet around as well as other things that I don't feel like going into.

I looked it up and and a teaspoon of salt contains more than the daily recommendation of sodium for the average person (which is 2,300 mg). The the average fruit has between 1 and 10 mg of sodium meaning that if you only ate fruit with 10 mg of sodium you would have to consume 230 servings of it a day to meet your daily requirement of it! Also, eating potassium, which is also found in fruits, especially bananas, helps your body get rid of sodium (remember ... to much salt or to much potassium can be bad so it is important to have a balance.

Oxalic acid combines with other metals in the body and forms crystals in the gut and kidneys. This doesn't bother some people, but others get kidney stones. The most common kidney stone is made from calcium oxilate. HOWEVER all this means is that if you are concerned about oxalic acid then all that means is that you should not juice produce that contains it in high levels. The produce that contains it is buckwheat, star fruit, black pepper, poppy seed, rhubarb, spinach, chard, beets and beet greens, banana, cocoa, nuts, berries, and beans. You can reduce the impact of oxalic acid on your body by exercising. Your body is able to process it better when it is active.

And as for the phosphoric acid ... there have been studies done on this (I can't find the citations for them though), in one study 15 students drank 2000-4000 mg of phosphoric acid in fruit every day for 10 days and none had any issues. I can find no information at all that says that fruit juices contain to much phosphoric acid.

Honestly, it sounds like the health person has not done any of their own research and is talking out of their non-raw butt!

looks as though your health freak doesn't know the difference between salt and salts and is unaware how important salts are for the correct functioning of your body.

+1 To that MysticTree! Salts are sooo important to your bodily function. I assumed that he was talking about sodium as I can't imagine other types of salts that would do lasting harm to your body ... I really hope that this "health" person does some of their own research someday. My parents are the same way. "Raw food isn't healthy for you, it was meant to be cooked." "What? Your doing a juice fast? Just remember that fasting is bad for your body and can kill you!" Are some of the things that I here from the "health" people in my family!

I'm gonna go further than that and say I think he has heard/read sodium and thinks it's the same as sodium chloride! Ah well. Do none of these people see that chimps manage ok on raw food? In fact every animal does well on raw food. I think there are studies that show animals doing badly on cooked foods. Not sure where the data can be found though.

yeah, well this same guy put out a protocol for me to follow for my possible M.S. for few months, included lots of herbs, teas, and thought it was ok to eat meat, and even some gluten and dairy and junk now and then, well 3 months later he was shocked I did not see an improvement..so when I decided to juice fast,ON my own,I saw results in my vision in 3 days..so yeah,i dont really need to listen to him anymore. Hes just a greek scientist.

Well,on this raw diet I do eat a lot of nuts and some organic chocolate and such. I do juice beets regularly, probably every other day(because they are so powerful and important).

Honestly, I think that doing things like that are okay to an extent. Everything in moderation is key! Also, if you active it will help break down everything you put in your body from these foods. Movement is important for you body to use things to their full extent (not that I am very active :) ) being active will also help your MS, but I do know that it is a lot harder to get moving when you have those complications. My dad has MS and my mom has a plethora of autoimmune diseases.

There is a huge difference between Mainstream "healthy-eating" and the distinctly non-mainstream "Raw Foods" or "Alkaline Foods."

People in the Raw Foods community are on the "cutting edge," literally.

Think about it - Raw Foods are so clearly good for you (just check out www.evolvewithflavor.com), yet mainstream society does not accept them yet.

Raw Foods literally challenges TOO MUCH of the belief systems of the establishment, thus you get MAD people like this "health guy," who don't want you to succeed in feeling like a Human Being is MEANT to feel.

Sodium from fruits and vegetables is going to be balanced by the potassium in them.
