Hey guys,

I began the raw food diet about 3 or 4 days ago and it seems like my bowel movements have been less regular (less than once per day), is this normal?

My guess is it's more related to an abrupt change in habit and will be short term, as opposed to being caused directly by the raw diet. There may be some things you could adjust and balance out to improve the situation in the meAntime but others could advise you better there. I find that insoluble fiber taken in at the wrong times slows down my digestion (like seeds and nuts without accompanying soluble fiber taken beforehand). Increasing water intake may help as well. Dont be frightened over this. It seems to be fairly common but works itself out as the body adjusts to the changes.

It may depend on what you are eating.
I recently tried bananas only diet and for the first 3 days I did not poop at all so I added some oranges and started working again.
Are you getting enough fiber.

Do fruits in the morning if you can up to lunch.

You will be all set.

I was fine my first six months or so then i started to struggle and struggle. Since doing fruits, i am fine. I cut down the fruits from the wave that you shouldn't have too much sugar and since watching dr. Morse, i am back with them and it is working great for me. I still do my green smoothie but in the after noon and salad at night. Many time, i will have only fruits and salad.

Wishing you all the best

p.s Fruit will heal you in many level. If you can eat ripe fruits.

Hm, I've had the problem of constipation and still have been having that problem. There are times when fruit does help. Coconut butter has also helped at times.

Thanks for the replies guys,

I'm following the raw food diet outlined in Natalia Rose's book called "The Raw Food Detox Diet" so I've been eating only a green smoothie and fruit until lunch. For lunch I have a big spinach salad and trail mix (nuts & dehydrated fruit) or an avocado sandwhich and for supper I usually eat another big salad and a cooked dish. My goal with this diet is to cure a skin rash that's been bothering me and causing intense redness in my face.
Do you guys think that such a diet will be effective? and has anyone else had luck curing skin rashes with this diet?

And I have been drinking a lot of water too so I don't think that's a problem

You'll have much better success if you cut out the cooked food. I'd choose a different lunchtime meal than nuts too. They take a long time to digest - are you soaking them? That helps a lot with their digestion too.

What would you suggest for a lunch time meal? Would sprouted bread be easier to digest? Also I'd like to lose as little weight as possible because I'm already pretty skinny I'm just trying to detoxify.

Where is your rashes? Every where or specific area?

Ditch any protein animal and even stay away from nuts unless they are truly raw soaked and fermented (cheese).

Your skin is your second kidney. If you cannot filter all the acid waste from your body, it will go to your skin. A baby that you don't change the diaper will have rash. Apply raw coconut oil, it will help to heal the rash, in the mid time you need to heal the cause. Meaning, you need to focus on your GI track, kidney/adrenal and get you lymph unclog. You can also look into clearing your liver but i would go more for healthy GI track, kidney/adrenal and lymph

Fruits will do this for you and you can look into herbs as well. Dr. Morse has wonderful blend that truly help, i am taking them myself and i can see the difference.

I would do fruits in the morning up to lunch, then maybe green juice and salad at night. If you can do fruits all day with a salad at night (low fat, use avocado), you will reset your body very soon and get this resolve once for all. If you need to go deeper, you can consider a fast after on mono diet with fruits, and eventually if you want to go even deeper a water fast.

Start first by doing fruits in the morning up to lunch and a nice green salad for diner. Include juice or smoothie with either cilantro, parsley, dandelion, leafy greens etc....

Protein weak your kidney, this is why, you need to stay away from it for now.

All the best

p.s Dr. Morse youtube channel (morsend). Make sure your fruits are ripe.

As long as you eat enough calories for your age, height, activity level, etc you will not lose weight.

I have a lot of redness on my face but I have little bumps all over my body. It's called Keratosis Pilaris but I have noticed an improvement since I started the diet.

Just curious, did you have your tonsil removed? Anyway, mainly in the face, this lead to think that you have blockage in your head area. If you have your tonsil removed, this would explain why. The good news is that on raw food, the will grow back eventually. Fruits will be without a doubt and key asset for you. Make sure they are ripe. Dr. Morse says that berries, grape and water melon they go deeper.

Maybe you should check on dr.Morse (morsend) youtube, he has answered that question already, you can do a search.

All the best and don't give up on raw food. Every positive step you do, counts.

Gravity colonics, triphala, and magnesium-oxygen supplements can all be really helpful (especially when beginning raw) and are non-habit forming.

Hm, I noticed that after I stopped drinking coffee, and drinking plenty of water, along with eating some fruits in the morning and having the fatty foods at night my constipation became a thing of the past.

Thanks for the replies everyone. No I didn't have my tonsils removed I still have them. I have started going through Dr Morses channel on youtube and I find his videos very imformative and will continue to watch them and learn from them.

nuts and oils really help, if you add nuts to every meal it should probably help :)

For many people that would make things worse though. Try different things to see what works for you.

The first week I was raw constipation was an issue - gradually resolving itself in a week or so. One thing I would say, about week 3 of raw I introduced green smoothies and that seemed to get everything moving more speedily - to 2 or 3 BMs daily. Sorry if too much info, but the green smoothies made a big difference for me.
