I've been consuming 1-2 heads of leafy greens a day, usually of romaine and green leaf and/or red leaf lettuce, is this sufficient or do I need to be consuming more of the darker types, which are usually goitrogenic and expensive?

Maybe I can add in parsley?

I usually also get a 1 lb tub of the spring baby greens mix every 2-3 days or so.

I know Victoria Boutenko says Dark leafy greens, but I haven't read her books, so I'm wondering if romaine and green leaf are good enough. Also they should be rotated. I was thinking just romaine and green leaf are good since they are cheap. I dont like iceberg because they say it's not too nutrient dense compared with the others, plus I dont like the watery taste of them.

Then, Gabriel Cousens says greens without specifying whether they be dark leafy greens but does list the most nutrient dense ones, of course being of the dark kind.

imo the romaines decent but not complete , and the green leaf isnt much .
kale or spinach would be excellent additions , dandelion too .
and as much parsley as like taste of ide say as its got alot of good nutrients ,
ive seen many herbalist really like parsley . and dont forget leafy weeds like
plantain / dandelion / etc from non treated lawns or fields . plus its super easy
to grow own wheat grass to juice or add to smoothies

I think what you're doing sounds great. You might want to consider adding some darker greens in the future, but I think you're doing great.

You are probably doing better than most. You are certainly doing better than me.

its super easy
to grow own wheat grass to juice or add to smoothies

So in your opinion/experience it is OK to add wheatgrass to smoothies (blended in a Vitamix)?

Some people say wheatgrass is not digestible in humans. But a number of supergreen powders have dried wheatgrass (not wheatgrass juice). I asked a dealer concerning this point but could not get a satisfactory answer.

joyce when i blend wheat grass i use kitchen scissors to cut it up into half inch bits or so before blending . so when i ingest it even if those little half inch bits arent disinegrated by blender theyre small enough to easily travel g.i. tract , adding mega fiber and brooming action to boot . and ive just a cheap blender , in a vitamix itd be like POOF ;-) instant liquid . and many times ide make a blender of wheatgrass water and bits too big to swallow so ide just chew on them a while to breakdown

Thank you. You have encouraged me. Actually I added wheatgrass to my smoothies long time ago and did not feel bad at all. But I was just not sure.
I think I will re-start growing wheatgrass for my smoothies now. Since wheatgrass is said to be super-good, I guess I will save some money on greens.

Cilantro and basil too, yummm. peppermint, mint or any fresh herbs. Any great wild edible herbs, some were already named on the post. They are very healing.

Anything leafy really that is eatable. I love making smoothie with them.

Kale is a dark leafy greens (cannot eat the same greens all the time, you need to rotate), arugula, mix greens, etc...
