new to juicing, and I think Im going to stick to mostly veggies in an effort to lose weight. I may add on a little apple or citrus fruit but will mostly stick to vegetables.
and, Im another new juicer who is experiencing the difficulties of not being able to carry a juicer to work. from what Ive read I know that its preferable to NOT make a juice in the morning and take to work for lunch. so are smoothies a fix for my problem? can a green veggie, fruit, or veggie/fruit combo smoothie be made one night and consumed the next day for lunch? or will too much goodness be lost?

The reason that the juices go bad is because of oxidization... Basically when the juice comes into contact with the air. If you fill the bottle up to the brim (or as close as you can) that can help. Also something acidic like lemon juice can help keep it nice. If you're traveling to work or school or anywhere else for lunch then maybe put the bottle in a cool bag with an ice pack? I haven't tried this myself but I think if you do all those things it might work. Good luck!

I've often made juice and kept it cold for later. It matters what kind of a juicer you are using.
Masticating juicers are better as centrifugal juices increase the oxidation. I agree with Norie about filling to the brim (even adding water if needed to get it to the top)... also a product like this one (http://www.timelessspirit.com/MAY11/review4.shtml) helps tremendously.

I make juice, and smoothies too, all the time to take to work. I just put them in mason jars filled to the top, put lid on and screw on tight....perfectly delicious and nutritious....no big deal. Just keep in refrigerator to stay cold......warm smoothies are yuck.

I noticed you said "...to lose weight". I am not preaching here, trust me, but you should consider juicing as part of a lifestyle for healthier living with the weight loss being a great side effect. I started juicing just for getting some healthy nutrients in my body. Then the more I educated myself and read all about the poisons in our regular food, I became concerned. In fact, I posted a thread regarding some very good food movies to watch.
Now, I am trying to change my approach to food and get off the SAD way of eating. Again, not trying to preach, just educate. Good luck.
