So I think that I am going to get a dehydrator very soon, but I have some questions about the food that comes out of it.

I see lots of recipes for raw bread. Is it actually bread like in texture? It would be nice to have a bun for a raw burger.

Also, PIZZA AND CRACKERS, I WANT THEM!! I love eating a simple whole food diet, but I need to mix it up a little and I love dry crunchy food like pizza and crackers. Will a dehydrator make super crunchy crusts? So far the crusts I have made have been soft because of no dehydrator, but I don't know what to expect as an end result if I dried them.

Crunch depends on a lot of things. Crackers can come out really crunchy. Alissa has a really good burger bun in her book. There's an onion bread recipe floating around here somewhere. Someone brought a truly bread-like bread to a potluck I held here. Never have made it myself yet, yes, you can make breads that are similar to what you're used to.

Hoping you're getting a decent dehydrator... such as Excalibur. :)

I wish, but space is limited and money is REALLY LOW (my wife and I are both college students and I just quite my job so I could have time to get my degree by May). I don't expect to make a large amount of stuff or really thick things (like some of the breads), but I REALLY need that crunch. Thanks! I am definitely going to buy one soon!

If you dehydrate things long enough they do become very crunchy! I personally prefer my breads to be more bread-like so I don't leave them in there too long, but if you make carrot bread I think it gets super crunchy pretty quick from memory... I just mixed carrot pulp from my juicer (or you can just grate them) with some chia seeds that had become all jelly-like in water, and some ground flaxseeds and water... turned out like really crispy crackers! :)
