What can I do with apples?

I usually eat them whole. Sometimes I make a raw crustless apple turnover or raw applesauce. I have a ton of them and they are cheap right now so I would like to keep buying them, but the ones I have are gonna go "bad" in a few days if I don't use them all.

Keep in mind I don't have a dehydrator or juicer.

Juice them by putting in your blender with some water, blend, then strain thru a nut milk bag/paint strainer, etc.

Apple Chips are so good!

Slice them thin and put them into dehydrator till crispy or whatever texture you like.

Haven't made them in awhile, don't know how long for. Maybe just for the whole day or overnight.

You can juice them or blend them with some lemons, honey, water, and get a a pretty sweet tasting lemonade. Straining free of pulp is optional!

Cut into cube size and top salads with them.

And this is one of my favorite, chopped dates or raisins or prunes, cinnamon, pecans, honey, sliced apples, and blend on low in Vita-Mix with a plunger till ingredients are blend together and teture is still chunky. Sorry no measurements, I just eyeball it and it still comes good. From the largest portion to the smallest in this order would be apples, nuts, chopped dried fruits, honey, cinnamon.

And throw a quote in too, "One apple a day keeps the doctor away!" :)

How about an applepie in a bowl..?

apples} chopped up, I put mine in food proc. so they become a little mushy, sort of cooked in texture
nuts, like almonds, walnuts, pecans or whatever you fancy } also chopped, sprinkled on top.
coconut flakes} sprinkled on top
and the spices, I love cinnamon (of course) and cardamom, ginger is also good
and then drizzle if you want it a little sweeter with either raw honey, agave syrup or the like...

My favorite breakfast or snack, sometimes even lunch and dinner in the fall..:excited:

That sounds good! It sounds similar to my crustless apple turnover that I make (I saw it in a youtube video). I chop up some apples. Sprinkle a little bit of salt on them to keep them from turning brown. Add cinnamon and stir with my hands. Then I add some chopped pecans and some sun dried raisins that I soaked for about an hour. Yum!

Edited to add: I also sometimes add some sunflower seeds that have just started to sprout!

Whoops, sorry... I love apples and was in a hurry in the morning when I read and posted!

So if a dehydrator appears in the future, apple chips is def one of the first things worth making. :)
(soak in lemon juice diluted with water to prevent browning before putting it the D)

Yes. Apple juice is devine. It's fun to experiment with the different types of apples too. And I am so pleased that it is Apple season... time to go picking. I like eating them right off the tree :juicy:

The apple is the pomaceous fruit of the apple tree, species Malus domestica in the rose family (Rosaceae). It is one of the most widely cultivated tree fruits, and the most widely known of the many members of genus Malus that are used by humans. The tree originated in Western Asia, where its wild ancestor, the Alma, is still found today. There are more than 7,500 known cultivars of apples, resulting in a range of desired characteristics. Cultivars vary in their yield and the ultimate size of the tree, even when grown on the same rootstock.

Umm ... thanks? A lot of nice info (that I already knew but I am sure some didn't).

Try to make an apple salad, just combine the apples cube, sliced celery, chopped nuts, mayonaise, raisin, lemon juiced in a bowl.. It really taste so good..

That does sound good. I might make it for my wife. I am vegan so I wouldn't eat mayonnaise (unless there is a raw vegan version). Sounds great though! I think that will go in my wife's lunch for tomorrow (I don't make lunch for her all the time, but I like to surprise her!

I want to make apple chips in my dehydrator.

If I don't coat them in lemon juice will they turn brown?

Will the lemon juice ruin the taste of the apples?

What about sprinkling with cinnamon? Is that a good idea?

I would appreciate any input...thanks!

I made some last month. I put them in lemon juice and cinnamon. The cinnamon makes them great.

I love chopped apples in a bowl with maybe a chopped banana, and a smoothie sauce to cover it.
For instance, I'll blend an apple with a banana, some cinnamon, almond milk, maca powder, maybe cocoa, or peanut butter (I know, not raw), etc., and add some greens. I pour that over the apple chunks and eat like cereal.
It also goes well with raw granola and almond milk.

Slice them up, and you can use them as crackers, too. They compliment Indian cauliflower mashes really well. Or eat them with cinnamon or a squeeze of lemon juice.

Or in a salad, of course :)

To some extent yes, but They are still yummy! I never worry about the lemon juice. I'm sure the cinnamon would be great as dehydrating brings out the sugars!

I agree! I love apple juice. Put it in your blender with some water or you can put some ice and make some shake from it!
