Hello,

I was just wondering if there are any healthy alternatives out there to alcohol, I heard that Kava is a good one, but after reading more info on it it appears it can cause liver damage and very severe in some cases with people needing transplants.
For about seven years I have had on off social phobia and in the beginning used alcohol to get through it, raw is not enough at the moment, i feel happier and abit more chilled out but still not enough and I need to get my life back in swing again. Im very sensitive to herbs and foods and get headaches, palpitations and nausea easily after taking them.

I dont want to drink alcohol, it makes me ill, I havnt drank it in over a year and have not enjoyed drinking it for a few years. But I want to find something that offers me the benefits of when I do drink it, more confidence, no panic feelings, muscles totally relax, in the moment but somehow not to much in it. every time I mix with people my digestive system totally gets out of wack, as soon as I panic I get extreme stomach pains and have to leave the room. over the years anxiety has built around this and then caused social phobia surrounding the pains. I dont get the pains other than when I am around other people, i dont panic when im by myself or around people im comfortable with, which is only around two people.

I meditate, do yoga, eat well. these all help alot but not enough at the moment :(

Most of the herbs I see for anxiety also help insomnia, i have the opposite problem, Im ready for bed at 9 o clock and asleep within 10 mins.
Are there any herbs out there that wont potentially kill my liver or damage my organs but give me an alternative to alcohol whilst I get my life back in order.

Hi mystictree, I have taken wheat grass juice, but did not notice it relieving any of the symptoms, I was taking it alongside spirilina so not sure if this masked it somehow, I found spirlina to make me feel paranoid. Will give it another try though, thankyou :)

I just drink water or fruit juices and hope for the best!

Learn EFT. You're looking at some way to drug yourself. Learn to cope with your feelings and find the root cause of them instead of using some "drug" (herbal or otherwise) to mask them.

Thanks guys.
I understand that I am looking for something to mask it as have had a year trying to resolve the situation and I still have not got to the bottom of it, in the meantime I need to start mixing with people again and get my business off the ground, my finances are dwindling and losing things are not an option for me.

When I drink apple cider vinegar and water in the mornings, I feel a little more alert, have more energy and am emotionally stable throughout the day. I do not have problems with anxiety, but it has helped me during times when I may have 'hormonal' mood swings. I don't feel a change come over me as when drinking alcohol, nor an immdiate boost.

When I went through a period of juicing in the mornings, I remember feeling the same type of clarity.

Cardiovascual exercise really helps me to control my stress/mood/anxiety, which I discovered for myself at age 14. If I know I'm going to be in a social situation where I might feel nervous, shy, etc. exercising beforehand boots my confidence because I feel like I did something good for myself.

Also exercising outside- taking in nature, stimulating your senses can help you calm down. Just spending more time outside- reading, eating, napping will make a difference.

Kumbucha, is like champagne to me, lol.... Rich in perfect B12 for you and probiotic. You need to research for the brand but you can also make a home made kombucha. Research on this site or youtube.

Check my tread about anxiety and how i over come it. Also fruits were key for me on top of doing emotional release. I subtracted the event or people out of the equation and simply went within to see what this feeling wanted to tell me. Once i found out that for me was the feeling to feel alone and abandon or not in control, i came up with two affirmations: God is in charge (you can substitute God with something else) and i am more powerful then this. I would use these affirmation each time the anxiety would arise.

Check your B12 level and watch dr. Morse (morsend youtube). He was a great help for me

But since the base is basically brandy (albeit a small amount per drop), it's probably not the best thing to recommend to someone wanting to avoid alcohol.

The alcohol content would be pretty small but there is always the alcohol free one for kids or a few other combinations if the alcohol is an issue. http://www.bachflower.com/Rescue_Remedy.htm
