is it dishwasher safe???
it arrived without a manual- I would hate to melt/ruin it. btw, I wash the Saladacco in the dishwasher- and it's fine.

I wash mine by hand. Because most of the things you can use with it contain very little detectable oil - it rinses right off. Only once did I have to apply some soap to remove the orange left behind by the sweet potatoes.

ReneeSC,
I generally like to throw everything in the dishwasher at the end of the day- but I've melted stuff that way once or twice. oh well, guess I better hand wash it.
thanks for letting me know.

What is the difference between the Spirooli and the Saladacco?
Knowing me, I may end up getting both.

the Spirooli has 3 blades for making different size pasta noodles - and the Saladacco (a garnish and pasta maker) has 2 blades - one for fine angel hair pasta, and one for making thin ribbon type noodles.
I've had the Saladacco for a year or so. it's kinda tempramental, but I still use it pretty often -
I just got a Spirooli the other day (they are about $22- a bargain)... so far, used it to prepare a simple red cabbage salad. works like a charm!

I bided my time and kept watching ebay and found a brand new spirooli for $4.99 buy-it-now price. Shipping was more than the spirooli ($6), but still a good price total for the gadget. I like it WAY more than the Saladacco (guess that's why it was easy to bide my time since I already had the Saladacoo!).
The fatter noodles from the Spirooli don't get "wet" like the skinny ones from the Saladacco.
Hope that helps!

That helps a lot Bretta! I always have to leave my skinny noodles out to dry up a bit before or put them in the dehydrator for a bit cause they were too wet (zuchini). Definately going to get a Spirooli and one for a friend too for a gift!

Bretta,
Are the fatter noodles still somewhat "noodle like" and pliable like the angel hair ones are?

Yes, RnN - they're easier to deal with, not as wet ( as others have said. I don't have the saladacco ), and they're pretty much the same size as No. 9 spaghetti noodles, Switch blades, and make spiral'd taters for chips, another switch gives you slices.
It's pretty easy to use - and for the first few times we made zuccinni noodles, we would stand in the kitchen and just laugh, because it was SO funny!
If you like asian-style salads using asian noodles.. this will work also ( just remember, even though it's "noodle" shaped, they are still crunchy). What was striking to our family was that they didn't taste like "grass".. or "earthy"...but a LOT like crunchy noodles..
