I apologize if this question has been asked before, but google hasn't been helping me much. I'm interested in starting a raw food diet, not necessarily for health or for the sake of going vegetarian, but rather to explore a self sustaining lifestyle.
This is a bit off-topic but I thought I'd mention it anyway. I left most of my belongings at home when I moved out to study engineering in college. I traveled by bus, slept on the floor, wrote on a clipboard, and did all my computer stuff on a netbook. I learned to live with less and I loved it. Since then, I've taken a "minimalist" approach to living. Lately I've wondered how nice it would be to lose the stove and fridge as well. But herein lies the problem of keeping food from spoiling... and finding everyday recipes that I can still enjoy.
So far I've researched the shelf life of common foods and vegetables. I learned that eggs are fine outside of the fridge for a week. And I'm familiar with canned foods, protein mixes, and the like (though I'd prefer something fresher). However I'm not sure how long I'd last living off this stuff in its plain-jane state. Are there any sites which provide example raw diets? Any blogs that cover a journey of someone transitioning over?
Thanks so much.
