Hello all, I'm new here. I'm a former Fast Food freak who developed health problems
(lactose, red meat, seafood sensitivities) and also have half a Thyroid due to Cancer
in 2001. I heard alot about Raw from a fellow Army wife here who has been eating
it for years. The more research I did, the more I knew it was for me. So far I've been
Raw for 13 days. I was cautioned (outright told, really) not to go straight 100% Raw
because it was too much to start with. I didn't listen and went in head-first.

I've not had alot of issues, other than a 5 day headache and an extra-harsh Menstrual
cycle. I've only cheated once (had some grilled chicken leftover from kids' Dinner) and
have lost 11lbs so far. I feel really good already, and have even talked my Husband into
going Raw once he's home from Afghanistan, to help him with long-suffering digestive
issues.

I'm here to get support and tips, and right off the bat I DO have a few questions:

**As someone who has half a Thyroid, that is sluggish but never medicated, are there any
foods I should avoid or limit?

**Just starting out, I am taking a multi-vitamin......anything else I should take?

**What nuts are off-limits??

**I've spent the 13 days so far not very hungry at all. I make myself eat two meals a day
but I'm literally only hungry maybe once a day......is this normal for starting out?

Wow, raw for 13 days already? You have lost a great amount of weight so far.
The nuts are supposed to be raw. If you are trying to lose weight, you should limit them somewhat. I heard there was something that could be bad with raw peanuts...but I don't remember what it was. I never had a problem with them but someone here said they got a fungus or something. I'm not sure about a multi-vitamin, I don't take them. They never have digested well. I'm not sure why we need them on raw anyway...but then again, I am no expert.
I was having issues with vegetables... as in I am not real fond of them. I am improving. I eat a huge salad every day. I know what you mean about not being so hungry. I really think the bulk of all the fiber you are eating helps with feelings of fullness. That and the fact that you are not eating highly refined carbs that knock your blood sugar all over the place.
I am a nurse in my real life but I work in the NICU. It has been many years since I dealt with Thyroid issues. Just speak to your GP about your diet. He or she might have foods you need to avoid...although if you are not medicated it might not be an issue.
I really can't think of a healthier diet for us.

Congratulations, you are on the right path sweet heart. You truly are and now that you are giving a chance to your body, it will heal. You can give yourself permission to feel at peace.

Greens heal addiction (Leafy greens-kale, salad, dandelion, parsley, cilantro, basil, etc.....). They taste delicious in smoothie from with fruit. A great combination for taste is banana and mango or any fruit your like.

Focus always on your accomplishment every positive steps counts so don't worry if your mind feel your didn't eat perfectly, remember the positive that you have done for yourself that day.

You will get on the top of your mountain and know in your heart, it is already done.

(((((Hugs to you))))))

To answer to your questions:

**As someone who has half a Thyroid, that is sluggish but never medicated, are there any

I heard some green such spinach should be avoid but one woman that was coming on this board heal her thyroid entirely even eating spinach. She ate sea weed which is great for your thyroid. Go watch dr. Morse (robert morse on youtube, you will learn about unplugging your lymph system and get your endocrine gland functioning. He is so knowldegeable. Doing fruit in the morning is very helpful.

**Just starting out, I am taking a multi-vitamin......anything else I should take?

Multi-vitamin will clug your liver. Eat as much colourful fruit/veg as possible. If you want to supplement, perhaps maca (excellent for the endocrine), chlorella, spirulina, gojji berry, chia seed, hemp seed, golden berry. If any vitamin maybe B12 Methylcobalamin and D3 on winter.

**What nuts are off-limits??

Any none raw nut- Soak your raw nuts always even seeds. I prefer eating them fermented (yogurt, cheese-raw vegan of course)

Follow your body, it will guide you

Follow your body, if you aren't hungry then don't worry. You are probably absorbing your nutrient well or your body needs as much energy as possible to heal inside.

p.s I am not a doctor, please research.
