I am taking Carlson's cod liver oil for mental clarity and all. Is this ok? If not, what can I take for an omega 3 type supplement?

not vegan so not ok ... if you are following Alissa's way that is. So . . .

You can get vegan omegas in supplement form or you can use raw hulled hemp, flax etc.

Try taking soaked chia preferably (highest land plant source of omega 3 and most absorbable). No need to take extracted oils, just take a whole food that the body recognises better. Lots of literiture doesn't speak good of taking extracted oils.

Can also take soaked flax regularly, but chia is best.

Chia seed, hemp seed (so wonderful and rich), wall nut, flax seed.

SaviSeed: With over 7000 mg of Omega 3 per serving, SaviSeeds are the richest source of Omega 3 on the plant and are packed with complete protein. Not to mention they taste amazing!

Research has shown that omega 3 from food is better absorb. Plant source is mercury free.

All the best

Nothing has ever felt more healing and balancing to me than soaked flax. I use it in dressings, in smoothies, in tortillas, crackers, etc. Within a few days of using it my skin starts to glow, and my nails begin growing really fast. That never happened to me with fish oil or cod liver oil... I'm not even 100% vegetarian but I still would choose flax because to me, it's better.

We can get hemp here although I don't know how globe friendly it is in terms of air miles. I am waiting to get confirmation that my source is raw. They say it is on one part of their website but not on the packaging!

Collect walnuts after they fall to the ground. Remove the husks and then place the nuts in water. Nuts that float are not viable and can be discarded. Good, viable nuts will sink to the bottom.
Before the walnuts will germinate, the nuts need to be exposed to cold temperatures and moist conditions. The cold-moist requirement can be met by planting the nuts in the ground in fall. Plant walnuts 1 to 2 inches deep.
The cold-moist requirement can also be accomplished through a process called stratification. Walnuts can be stratified by placing the nuts in a moist mixture of sand and peat moss and then storing them in a cool location. Suitable containers include coffee cans, plastic buckets, and food storage bags. The refrigerator is a good storage location. (Stratification temperatures should be just above freezing.) The walnuts must remain in the refrigerator for 90 to 120 days. After the nuts have been properly stratified, they can be removed from the refrigerator and planted.
