View Full Version : Where can I get a nut/milk bag? Do they sell them at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's?

I recently heard that juicing with a juicer is less efficient than say juicing with a nut/milk bag and VitaMix blender. I am just wanting to know where I can get a nut/milk bag, last thing I want to do is to order online... Thanks

Whole Foods sells them.. that is where I bought mine. Vitamix also sells them on their website. Or you could order online from Amazon. Lots of choices.

Are you sure every Whole Foods store sells them? Where do you live? I hope you don't live somewhere like in San Antonio Texas lol, that is a largest Whole Foods store I have ever seen, so they are bound to have every health product you need over there.

Which do you think yields more nutrients in juice, juicers or blenders + nut bags?

I live about an hour north of San Francisco. Trust me, our Whole Foods is not the biggest by any stretch (for the record, the biggest ones I have seen are Columbus Circle in New York City, and Kensington in London). You should be able to find them in their bulk section, right next to the nuts. As for nutrition, it probably depends on what kind of juicer you have.. from what I hear on this forum, some juicers claim to get more juice out of fruit and veggies than others. I have a simple Jack LaLanne juicer which works just fine.. but I still use the blender and nut milk bag for nuts.. i am not sure if there is any juicer you can put nuts through?

I think there are only a few juicers out there will accomplish that task, and I saw one on Amazon a few days ago that does that, but don't remember which one it was. My guess would have to be the Omega or at least some masticating juicer.

The cheapest, by far the least expensive nutmilk bags can be purchased from your local paint store or hardware store. Mine sell them for $1.59 each and they come in a one-gallon size and have an elastic top. Now, the mesh is not quite as fine as the more expensive ones, so I have one that I bought online that's really fine mesh I use AFTER I've done a bulk squeeze through the easier paint store one...or at weddings etc, you get little ones with candied almonds in them, that I do the final pour through.

Yes, you can make nutmilk in the Omega vertical juicers as well as the side --masticating/corkscrew-like juicers like the Samson, if you mix the nuts with water while slowly pouring them in.

But honestly, I think a blender is the best for nutmilks.
