PLEASE... feel free to join this thread any time ... we loooove having new friends to fast with!!!
Here's are the 'rules' of this thread:
Please do not discuss specific food. Feel free to share "My hubby was eating and it was hard for me." Please don't share "My hubby was eating X, Y and Z..."
The reason we do this is so no one ends up getting a craving from a fasting thread. As a faster we can choose to click on a thread which discusses food but we need the safety within this thread to know food is not discussed. Juices are shared, M/C is shared, green smoothie recipes are shared... but not 'chewable' food.
Please join us... by listening to our theme song (http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2539741). We all come together... from around the world to fast together and support each other. Please join us!
There is a great deal of info in this stickie (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=62026). Please take a moment to read it.
And here is a thread (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=61603) where we share our favourite recipes. If you haven't contributed yours, please do!
Here's my commitment (when I'm fasting):
I'm here to fast. I'm not here to eat. I will fast until I choose to stop but I will NOT stop my fast on a bad day, at night or today. I can choose to break my fast tomorrow in the morning but not today.
I'm here to gain health.
I'm here to gift my body the time and energy to bring my body to a state of health.
I'm here to release - whatever needs to be released. Physical, emotional, conscious or unconscious out-moded things... I'm here to release them all.
I'm here to bring a greater depth to my spirituality.
I'm here to support myself and others.
I am here to continue to be mindful - focusing on this moment and not anticipating the next one.
I am here to share my experience and gain knowledge from what others share.
I'm here to feel whole. I'm here to give my beautiful, cherished body a break from digesting food!!!
This is the "Fellowship of the Fasters" - unlike the LOTRs fellowship of nine, we are a fellowship of many. We welcome newcomers daily and embrace everyone no matter what they are fasting on or their personal beliefs.
Yes you can prefer green juices to fruit. Yes you can use agave instead of maple syrup or raw honey. Yes you can juice in your Vita-Mix and use a nut mylk bag to extract your juices.
We don't care how you fast... we want to support you... and in turn, we ourselves get supported... so please... join us!!!
Come on everyone.. join in the fun and grab your Elf, Dwarf, Hobbit or Human names for our "Fellowship of the Fasters"... you just make them up, it isn't from the book/movie. (if you want to participate) and put it in your signature line!
Ever wonder how the Fellowship began?
Back when I first began fasting there were the Fasting Bandits. This was a group of amazing people who fasted together all the time. The 'theme' was a convoy of truckers. I was the water tanker! :throwhearts: Over time the Fasting Bandits moved on with their lives and weren't around much at all. A few of the members are still here... but seldom fasting anymore.
I was missing the camaraderie of the FB and was always hoping to find a new group to fast with, find support with and to support myself. The Fellowship of Fasters began because Cathy and I watch the movie Lord of the Rings a LOT and we fast together a LOT as well. We began speaking to each other as though we were Golum - and our juice was our precious.
And then the Fellowship of Fasters was born!
So to be a member... you simply need to choose a name, put it in your signature line and love fasting. You can become a life-time member or one for a short time... it's up to you.
I'm here for the long haul. My water tanker is here beside me - because I'll always be a Fasting Bandit... but now my precious walks beside on a slower path than the truckers... enjoying the grass at my feet and the flowers growing out of the cracks and crevices in the rocks around me.

Glad to have a few people doing a fast at the same time! Just watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead... totally inspired! Plan is to start a 3 day water fast tomorrow, hunt down a juicer in those 3 days and do a juice fast for 30 days. From there, I'm heading onto a low fat raw vegan diet that I'd been struggling to get started. So excited to embark on this journey! Good luck to all those who are starting their fast!

Hi folks, I think I might jump in here for a day or two. I woke up this morning feeling bleh and not really wanting food. So I thought it would be the perfect time to fast. For today, I plan to stick with water only. And we'll see where it goes from there...

Today is Day 2 and I am having some serious brain fog. I'm not hungry, and I know my body is being nourished with all of the amazing green juices I'm putting into it, but my brain is faltering, ya'll. I have had a headache right in the center of my forehead all day. When will this stop? I had a glass of green tea thinking it might be caffeine withdrawal, but it didn't help.

Welcome everyone, it's so nice to see lots of people here. GlimR, thanks for the support. I'm using you as my inspiration :hug It's day 6 for me and I feel great! No major hunger or cravings just a few hunger pangs here and there, usually when I haven't drank anything for awhile. I'm trying to get more greens into my juices and stay away from lots of sweet juices only. My plan is to go to 10 days and see how things are going. At some point I think I'm going to switch over to the MC for a short time also. Good luck and great juicing to everyone on their journey!

I am by no means anything but a novice at this but would only water fast if I could do nothing but rest.
Day #15 and down 17 lbs. I've had a mild case of rosacea for a long time...my skin looks great! Even and only slightly pink on my cheeks....have had three comments on it so far....nice to hear since some things you just don't see yourself. My eldest son and his wife are having their first baby, due Aug. 19th. I'm going to NY to see them for a week/help out. They call me the earth mother! hehe. That will give me almost two weeks to break the fast and get digestion moving again with raw. I'd stay on it otherwise but know I'll be looking forward to doing it again. They have a juicer and my mother's old vitamix and belong to an awesome co-op so food there isn't an issue.
Two weeks to go fasting....am really loving it. Hope everyone has a great day~

Good morning August fasters!
I am on morning of Day 3 and I am feeling so much better. Yesterday I had brain fog and a big headache, but today I am feeling quite normal. I did a workout video last night and oddly enough, that seemed to normalize my body. Or it could have been the cashew nut milk which I see is not considered juice and would be breaking the fast. I based it on a cleanse that I wanted to do, which is juice all day and cashew milk at night. I'll be skipping it from here on out. I am going to listen to what my body wants today and provide that in the form of juice. Have a good day!!

(Cynthia)...thank you~ *s*
Saltygirl~good for you! So glad you are feeling better. I read somewhere recently that in a prolonged fast, and used with discretion, almond milk can be used if very well strained but not cashew because you can't remove the fiber in cashew milk and it will stimulate digestion. Hope you have a good day today~
Day #16 for me and I am feeling great! Have had only very mild hunger several times but for the most part none, no cravings, no angst and in a way wish I could go beyond 30 days and am already looking forward to doing it again. I will have two weeks to transition after the 30 days before I travel and have a re-eating plan. Reading so many of the back threads have been invaluable.
Today's juices
water w/lemon
kale, parsley, red chard, beet greens, zucchini, cucumber, apple, lemon & ginger..2X
watermelon w/rind, kiwi, cherries & lemon
maybe pineapple, carrot, orange & spinach
Hope everyone has a great day~
thesaltygirl
08-03-2011, 11:22 AM
GlimR, your juices sound awesome. I particularly love the watermelon w/rind, kiwi, cherries & lemon combination. Yum! Thanks for the info about cashews vs. almonds. I didn't have the nut milk yesterday, and I'm not going to have it at all anymore.
I'm on Day 4 and things are going okay. If there's one thing I've examined so far on this juice fast is my relationship with food and how society and myself use it everyday. Food is so ingrained in our lives. It's hard to watch tv, drive down the street, or have any social interaction without food. Plus, I use food all the time! As something to do, a way to plan my day, and as a way to care for others. It's interesting.

Taking food out of the equation has made me a lot more aware of certain behaviors I have had too...tasting things when I cook for family etc...Haven't done that at all or even licked a finger off but have seen what I "usually" do...and I have def. used food for entertainment, for solace, to quell boredom and frustration. This is an interesting journey to be sure and one I am so glad I'm on.
Had a great day...good juices, water, etc...made a store run for more apples, carrots, kale, celery and pineapple....am set for a few more days...hope everyone is doing well.

Hi everyone,
My name is Amma and I am currently on Day 2 of my juice fast. I am feeling pretty good. I have been tempted on many occasions to break my fast, however I am keeping my eye on the prize. I added two lemons to my juice today which I did not enjoy too much. I will make sure that I do not make that mistake again!!! Yesterday my juice consisted of : Kale, romaine, cucumber, carrots, watercress, green pepper, apple, one lemon, and bok choy. Today I added broccoli, an additional lemon and ginger.
I noticed that 44 ozs of juice was not enough yesterday. Today I would have consumed one gallon of juice. I feel satisfied!!!! I am trying to also increase my water intake. Good luck everyone and I look forward to "speaking" with you tomorrow!!!!

Day 9 is over for me. Still doing good and not having any trouble sticking to my fast. I've begun drinking more water, too. I am noticing commercials and radio adverts for food and have had to turn them off a couple times. This has begun to happen today and is really the first time I've even noticed the commercials. I have had very little weight loss, about 5 lbs, but I'm not complaining. I have also begun to feel, for the first time in several years, motivated enough to start lifting weights again. Hoping this will continue. I have also begun to see my skin clear up a little. I'm almost 46 and have had acne since I was a teenager--many, many years. It cleared up some before I went to Africa, but came back as soon as I began to eat cooked food there. Hopefully, with this fast, I'm able to break the cycle or whatever it is, or at the very least make some progress to figuring out where the problem is in my body/diet.
Welcome Amma and good luck on your fast! It's always so nice to see new faces here.

Juice Fast Day #20!!! I am feeling so good!! Hard to believe almost three weeks have gone by since I ate any actual food...though I am getting tons of nutrition. Been busy this morning and just made my first juice...a new one...not sure how much I like it but will drink it anyway...tomato, red pepper, celery & parsley...not horrible but might have to grow on me....maybe just too much parsley. I slept for 11 hours last night...I slept so well, was so comfortable and cozy, no pain, wasn't about to burst into flames or any of the past issues...am seriously thinking of going past the 30 days...guess I will decide then but seeing so much progress (weight loss, energy, better sleeping, less pain) I want to see where else this will take me.
Some times wanting to eat is an issue...but only about three times so far and it passed...just have to go thru and out the other side.

Hi everybody, I'm on day 2 of my juice fast. Hoping that with this fast I can really put aside the cooked food demons. At 30 days I'm going to decide whether or not to continue, like Glimr. Great job Glimr!!
I'm feeling pretty normal today, although pretty tired and unfocused. I haven't been tired at night these last few days and so haven't gotten a full night's rest. Yesterday I had a fever, some bowel problems and aches. I had started juicing 3 days before but was having some cooked food at dinner at that point so it might have been detox

Thank you~ *s* You are doing great! I imagine it is detox and should pass pretty soon. From all I've heard three days is the magic # to get thru and then you start feeling better.
I'm doing good today, just made my second juice, not really wanting much today. I love how what we do sends ripples out...like a pebble tossed in a still pool. You never know who they will gently wash over and inspire...I am finding that I love being an example of positive change and action for those I love....it really is an amazing journey~

I have a terrible sore throat from laughing and having too much fun. We did a lot of roller coasters, water parking, and go carting. Hi~:hug I'm not sure I can answer anything for you. This is my first fast but hopefully someone with more experience will chime in. You can do it however you want. I drink about 3-4 16 oz juices a day...many juice feasters drink a gallon a day and I know some do smoothies exclusively. I'm on day 25 just juice. Whatever you decide...I know I'd love the company~
Day #25 and really feeling cruddy today...lots of stuff draining down my throat, sore throat, upset tummy...just feeling yicky!! Hoping tomorrow is a better day. Haven't had much down time due to feeling bad but this is right up there.

Good morning all!
I've been lurking and reading this thread for inspiration the past few days, so now I've decided to officially join up.
I'm on Day 8 of my first-ever juice fast and am sooooooo loving it!!!! I plan to do 30 days, which I think should be long enough to release the excess weight I've put on the past year -- probably around 20-25 pounds.
I don't own a scale, so I'm just judging by my waist measurement and what size jeans I can fit into.... these past three days I've lost one inch so far and only have 3-1/2 inches to go!
I've been doing mostly watermelon/ginger/apple juice in the morning, then sipping green juice all day -- definitely at least 4 liters! Then yesterday for lunch I also tried a spicy blend of tomatoes, kale, red pepper, lemon, garlic, celery, carrot with cayenne and a little sea salt..... YUM! I'm hooked on this, it's going to be my new go-to anytime I'm craving something more substantial.
Aside from the 2nd day (which was caffeine withdrawal day), it's been pretty smooth sailing. Today I woke up with a headache, but I'm hoping my breakfast watermelon juice will help with that...
Anyhow, I'm delighted to be here -- and congratulations to you new grandmothers and grandmothers-to-be!

Good morning everyone!
I have been following this board for over a year, and am finally jumping into a juice fast. I'm at the stage of being tired of being tired and sick and miserable. I want more out of my life. I found myself getting very overwhelmed with the different theories and ideas and opinions in the raw food community. I saw fat sick and nearly dead and realized that i can keep it simple to start.
So today I am starting my fast. I do not know for how long, but I do know that my initial goal is 10 days, to truly give my body a chance to detox and overcome my unhealthy sad addiction.
I have a busy week, but realized that ever week will have a challenge and there is no ideal way to start, but today is my day.

Good morning!
Day #10 today! Had a really rough day yesterday.... headaches all day and even a short little panic attack. A friend told me enemas would get rid of the headaches but I'm going to see if they go away on their own first. Also I'm going to get some senna tea today, maybe that'll help with elimination.
Otherwise, things are going great. I have no problem managing whatever momentary cravings pop up and have no problem with hunger at all. These headaches are awful though!!!
I'm taking it easy today, my body is asking for lots of watermelon juice and then I'm thinking I'll just keep it simple with carrot/celery juice all day.
I've lost another 1/2-inch from my waist and am LOVING how my jeans are fitting!!! My face looks better too -- my skin is brighter and my cheekbones are coming back out.
I feel like I'm returning to NORMAL.
I can't wait to see what the next 20 days will bring!

Have been sick with a horrid cold/sore throat/cough that several of the day care children had last week. Hoping to feel better tomorrow. Had some fresh orange juice and a lot of watermelon/cucumber/lime today...2 batches....nice and light...not too sweet with the rind in it. Had a friend who was doing this with me locally but she is done...still juicing but it was driving her crazy...still...she did about 13 days I think...something to be proud of.

Thanks for the encouragement, GlimR!
I'm no expert by any means -- but I'd say 30 days is DEFINITELY long enough to have a positive impact on your blood work. Have you decided whether or not to extend the fast beyond the 30 days?
Day #11 for me begins with a super yummy watermelon-ginger-pineapple juice.
Really moved to a different level with this fast yesterday, just feeling SO GOOD. Not bothered at all serving food to my son. My weight loss is holding steady at a rate of 1/4-inch per day. I might start adding some gym time this week, so far just been walking with my dog and a gf in the woods each day.
I'm LOVING THIS!
Not to be disgusting, but I think I really turned the corner yesterday by finally going to the bathroom after 2 days. I took Aleesha's advice and had a liter of apple juice (with a little cinnamon, YUM!) -- and voila!!!
Anyhow -- feeling much better today..... happy juicing to all!!!

You are doing great...so good to hear your enthusiasm!! I haven't started doing any exercise yet but the pain in my back and legs is getting less and less so need to start walking soon...looking forward to building some strength back again!! Today is day #29...still have not decided what to do, how long to keep going....pros and cons to both. I know if I go to 40 I'll still have a full week to start re-eating before I have to fly to NY for a week....on the other hand...fruit sounds really good right now...still mulling it over~:wuv

Just wanted to say 'well done!'
You made 30 days. I find that amazing and inspiring. Especially as it was your first time juice feasting. Just amazing.
I really miss my juicing. I'm gonna do it again when the apples are in season here in the US. Makes me crazy to buy apples from New Zealand or South America. And, I really like an apple in my first juice in the morning. Or, maybe I could substitute a carrot or two till apple season? hmmm............
Didn't mean to make this all about me! lol
Big congrats and job well done!
To your health.......Cynthia

Congratulations GlimR, 30 days down!
Day 22 for me and I'm ready to quit at 30. I'll take another 5-10 to transition back to mostly whole foods. I'm not really struggling or having any major cravings, just becoming ready for something more substantial. I've been perusing recipes and making some chips and crackers and things that will store well. I've found that I really miss making food. I'm having to take everything next door for my parents to try since I can't eat any of it, not that they're complaining, lol. Hope everyone has a great day and good luck with whatever you decide GlimR.

Thank you so much! Today is day #30!!!!:woohoo:
I am looking forward to having some watermelon tomorrow. This gives me two weeks to transition before I go to NY. My plan is to eat fruit and juice most of this week (6-7) days and then add in some veggies/smoothies/almond milk then salad over the 2nd week. Starting in October I am going to juice fast for the first week to 10 days of each month till I reach my ideal weight...will add up to 1/3 of the year over 12 months...should make a difference I would think. Anyway...I've loved sharing this here and appreciate the support I got. Thank you~:throwhearts:

Yaayyyyy -- CONGRATULATIONS GlimR!!!!
Also @ imaquillen: congratulations on reaching 22!!!
This is all so inspiring!
Today is Day 12 for me and I think when I reach 30 days I'll be ready to end this fast, too. I am definitely also considering making fasting a regular part of my regimen.
No news -- except yesterday I went to the gym for the first time. Also went to the farmers market and got some wonderful beets, which I haven't been using in my juices before now. WOW are they great!
Also I had my first ever coconut water yesterday -- YUM. Definitely buying every coconut I see from now on.
Anyhow, just checking in. All is well! I'm still just so delighted to have found a way to both lose weight AND nourish and heal my body.... amazing!

Today so far two 16 oz green juices and some watermelon....man was it good.....having some cherries for "dinner".

Well, I reached my 10 day and beyond... I am on dy 12 and i feel very good. I am still having cravings for normal american food. I don't want that... in the 10 days i lost 13 lbs (and dropping) and feel so great... some people said i would have some surreal experiences and almost euphoric... i don't think i really did... there have been a few calm wonderful moments but i think those are because i am actually doing more than just going out drinking and eating with my friends. I actually get outside and walk my dog a lot and just hang out with me... kind of a time out for me to figure out that i can enjoy being me and by myself... I started this because i have (and continue to) gone through a lot of changes for the better of myself... figuring out who i am and what i want out of life...
The fast has instilled in me a sense of wellbeing in reagards to my willpower... I am not as weak as I once thought... i am going to go as long as i can... there are a few things coming up in the next week that may not allow me to bring my juice with me, so I might have to actually eat the fruits and veggies as a whole...
all in all i will continue to have this as part of my life style...

That sense of calm and clarity of mind is so amazing. Makes me glad to hear how things are going for you. What a gift to yourself to give yourself some time and space to enjoy YOU and to be able to hear the workings of your own mind and heart. Hoping you have a great week~
Day 3 post fast...still breaking w/soft fruit and juicing. Amazed at my self-control...didn't thinkm I would have much...but I am doing what I think I should and taking two weeks to transition back to primarily raw foods...feeling good, sleeping great! Am happy~

Day 26 is almost over. I too have been amazed at my willpower, but it surely shows me I have much more than I thought! 30 days will be enough for me, especially with a week or two to transition back to normal eating. I have lost more weight than expected, which has been very nice, though still not as much as many here. So far, I've lost almost 20 lbs. Hoping some weight loss continues as I transition. My skin is the clearest I can ever remember it being since about 13. I even started my period with no "warning" breakouts, which was extremely nice! Still have a few pimples, but I do believe my skin will continue to clear up as I continue with my raw diet. I'm going to try to introduce new foods slowly to watch for allergies, too.
Sounds like my newest grandson, Wyatt, may be coming home from the hospital soon. He's eating well and his jaundice is finally gone. God is good!
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Hello!
I joined the raw 30 day challenge.... but really I want to try a fast.
I'm going to do 10 days with juice (smoothies, really, no juicer).
I will then take a very short break for my husbands birthday, and resume for another 10 days. I'd like to not break but it would be very difficult.
In any case.... do you think drinking juice with pulp will make a difference? Basically just severely pulverized produce... lol
This morning I had spinach, chia seed, and frozen fruits buzzed up in the immersion blender because I'm at work. For lunch I'll make a 32 ounce beauty of misc produce, and same for dinner. Maybe another mostly fruit smoothie before I leave work to hold me over through school.
Thoughts?

Hi all. I am back for another round of wonderful delicious and precious juice!!!
I was going to fast in June or July but it did not happen. Now I am ready for a short 10 fast and hope to meet like minded people here again. Lots of hugs for now, I'll check in again later and will read up a little on what is going on here.

Day 1 for me as well. :)
Starting out on water then will transition to juice.
I'm going into this with hopes of a rather long fast. I'm not working at the moment and don't have any major obligations or plans coming up so I'm grabbing this opportunity!
A big change I will be doing on this fast is not weighing myself every day. I know I get addicted to the scale and numbers it spits out. I just don't want that. Maybe I'll do a weekly weigh in.
Today, I am working on my room. It's full of chaos and not a pleasant place to be. Time to change that!
Congrats to all!

Hi there,
First of all you have to do what you feel is right but I will tell you what my experience is. If you drink smoothies you will still have all the fibre from the fruits and veggies, it is not a true fast so your body will not go completely into rest/detox. For me that means that I stay more hungry. It is just a different thing. A fast can be more difficult in the first few days but after that when the organs are resting I am not hungry anymore and feel great.
I have juice fasted with my vitamix blender for a while. I use paint strainer bags that you can buy at Home Depot or similar store. They are the same as nut mylk bags but cheaper. You can use them over and over again. Just pour the pulp mix in the bag (with a container under it!) and squeeze the juice out of the pulp until nothing comes out anymore.
Just try it out and see what you think!!

Hi All,
Very exciting to see that I am not the only one on day 1! I hope to be an encouragement to you!!
Today was not difficult at all. Just a little hungry but not much. I do not like raw tomato juice but the tomatoes were so cheap at the store that I had to try it again. Well guess what, I tried something out and loved it!! YEAY! 5 Tomatoes, 1 jalapeno pepper, 1/2 field cucumber, 2 stalks celery, 1 lime, some cilantro and garlic. I added herbamare salt and warmed it up just a little. YUM, seriously it was good. I"m very happy because until now I really hated tomato juices. So lots of tomatoes for me this fast!!
I also took a walk and will take one again later this evening because the weather is so nice.

Hello.
A few months ago a did a 9 day fast and had very good support. It was very much appreciated. But I learned something crucial....the support I truly need is for what I consider to be much harder than the fasting itself and that is coming out of the fast and transitioning back into solid foods correctly. Because we cant really discuss solid food in this fasting thread, I wonder if anyone has considered a monthly dedicated thread to transitioning? This is where I could really benefit and perhaps others? Thoughts?
Btw, on Day 2 of a 30 day attempt. The fasting is the easy (er) part! And hello to everyone. :-)
edit: That post fast support was available to me I just fell way off the wagon. :-)

I second that! And your tomato juice sounds quite yummy. :) That's the ONLY way I like peppers of any kind. Glad you made friends with the tomato!
Today went well. No hunger of any kind but nights tend to be the challenging time for me. I'm normally a late, late night person but tonight I'm going to do my best to be asleep early. I've been keeping the water intake high and constant.
I used up my energy organizing my nieces toys. Happily, all of the toys are sorted and put away and my room is on the way to being comfy again.

Good morning all -- great to see so many people here!
Today's Day 18 of my 30 day fast and I'm still feeling great -- hardly any hunger, lots of energy and I have this feeling I can just cruise through the next 12 days no problem.... we'll see!
I'm finding I'm drinking much less juice than I did in the beginning. When I first started I was pretty much sipping juice all the time. Now I'm fine with three or four smaller "juice meals" and just having water or tea for longer periods in between.
I'm relieved because I was drinking so much juice that it was getting really expensive!
I'm really delighted with the weight loss aspect -- I'm more than halfway to my goal and starting to see real changes now. Yayyyy!!

Greetings. I am starting a 30-Day Master Cleanse fast today. I did a ten-day fast last month that went very well and was 100% Raw until a friend bought over some cooked food last week which resulted in me giving up eating raw and eating cooked foods and gaining alot of weight.
So, I begin again to realign myself to eat the foods that nourish my mind, body and soul.
Also, during this time I began (again) to use sleeping pills because I do not sleep except when I'm fasting. During this fast, I will not tell anyone I'm fasting and will not check the scale until Day 15 when I am half way through. I am determined and will be able to reach my weight loss goals if I go the complete 30 days.
So, with that i'm brewing my tea and doing my Spirit Work. I will use this next 30 days to get in tune with ME.
Wishing you all the best on your various fasting paths.
Peace and Blessings.

Hi all,
Day 2 feel good, a little hungry but hey, what do I expect? Day one went actually really good, usually that is one of my most difficult days because I can sometimes feel that I'm not that motivated but I'm fine this time.
This is what I wrote in my fasting log for my own motivation. To read when I feel down
This is why I need this fast:
Got acid reflux again after it was gone for a while. need to reset
reset my craving for sweets, even though I am doing so much better after the last 2 fasts
release some more weight. (proud of myself that I didn't get it back after last fast)
Be more productive (less computer, network websites)
rest intestines, (I have colitis, it never completely goes away but it doesn't progress either when I fast regularly)
After my last fast my night sweats completely disappeared. I got them again since about 10 days, so I want to see if I can fix that again.
I really want to work on being more productive and be a lot less on the computer. I want to read more.....
And like always.
I can quit whenever I want but never when I am discouraged or feeling bad!!!!
Love you all!

Right on that your day one went so well! And thank you for sharing your log entry. :) Being more productive is something I would like as well. Everyday of this fast, I plan on doing something a little extra then my normal day. Yesterday it was dealing with all my nieces toys in my room. Today, it's dealing with a table full of things that I unpacked a week ago.
Feeling good this morning. Had a bit of a headache last night but no sign of it at the moment. I didn't get to sleep any earlier then normal. Will try again tonight. My energy is lower then I'm use to this early water fasting. Normally, it not this sapped until about day five. At least I'm able to rest as often as I need to while working on my room.

On with the day!

Thank you for the welcome Kalehua. Actually I never do the Salt Water Flushes on the Master Cleanse. Tried once and it did not go well, so I stick to the tea morning and night.
My Day One has gone well. Only mildly hungry, but nothing unbearable. I did explain to a close friend that I was fasting and told her that I could not eat cooked foods or chicken any longer. I don't think she got it because she kept saying that it is o.k. every once in awhile. I tried to explain that is is like an alcoholic having one drink and after this slip know that I must stay away from cooked foods for good. She is happy when I fast because she borrows my vita-mix and she loves the morning smoothies that It can create.
I'm on my way out to have a colonic. Like to have them while I am fasting. Happy to be back in the Fasting Zone.
Best of luck to you.
Peace & Blessings.

Good morning all!
Day 3 today. I am feeling great and I am surprised how easy of a start I have this time. Interesting how every fast is different. It might have something to do with the weather. Nice warm weather does make all the difference. And we don't get much of that in Northern Canada!!
Today I have to do a lot of traveling so probably won't have that much juice but more water. I somehow don't like to drink juices that I made earlier, the taste definitely start to change. But that's ok, I will be home later and make up for it. I will make my green juice early in the morning so at least I will have had that.
Hope you are all doing well.
Juice on!!

Greetings fellow juicers!
Today is Day #19... this is my first ever fast and I'm still amazed with this process, how completely RIGHT it feels. It's like my body has always been wanting me to do this!
Yesterday was a tough day -- no physical hunger, but my appetite is definitely returning and I was thinking about food a lot.
I was also just feeling tired of my choices.... juice, cold water with lemon, hot water with lemon, herbal tea.... so I decided to make a NEW choice and made a sort-of version of the MC lemonade: ice water with lots of lemon, some stevia and a bunch of cayenne pepper... and it was great!!!
So yesterday I had a few big glasses of that along with my juices and other drinks and felt much more satisfied, like I had something more substantial to sip on between my juices.
ALSO, when I woke up this morning, I had lost another 1/2-inch off my waist!! So I was waaaaaaay happy with that, too. Now I'm only 1-1/2 inches from my goal and feel this is completely doable in the time I have left.
Truly loving this process and how it's changing my body and the sense of self-mastery... also hoping someone does start a thread about transitioning back to raw after the fast because I'm starting to get nervous about how to do it!

This is day three I believe.
The past two days I have been eating fruit in the evening... not really a fast. But I'm fasting through most of the day. I bought an actual juicer on eBay, should be here soon! I think until the juicer comes, I'll keep with my smoothies/pulped juice and the occasional evening fruit. Then I'll move into full on fasting for a couple weeks. My husband wants to fast with me soon- but not for another month at least. So I guess I'll just play around with it until then. Perhaps alternate liquid and some fruit days until the juicer arrives. I'll see how I feel. But I am excited! I've strained a couple of my juices and it's so much tastier than with the pulp. That's when I bought the actual juicer.
Last night I had some carrots after my workout.... and hummus. Store bought hummus. It was going to go bad and my husband won't touch it. So I sat on the couch happily dipping away... and I feel so sick that I'll probably never touch hummus again. Garlic hummus, anyways. I mean I feel nauseous... and just..... ehhhh. I'll only make THAT mistake once!
Today I think I'll only have smoothies and juice though after last night. I mean I just feel disgusting. Maybe it's detox? Maybe it's hummus? Either way, I need it gone :-(

Doing great all!
3rd day for me. Still on water. Woke up this morning super grumpy all due to my fasting dreams. The last dream (there were many!) entailed an argument with a customer service employee and that frustration held over when I woke up. Seems kind of funny now that I've told someone about it. :)
Didn't finish the work that I wanted to yesterday so I'll be hitting it again today. Think I'll also make a run to the thrift stores for some more pirate garb. Going to the Portland Pirate Festival on Sept 3rd & 4th and need a few more pieces. My coat came in yesterday and it's a tad small. Since I'll be fasting on water up to and beyond the date of the PPF, it should fit fine when it rolls in. :)
I'll check back in later and make a more personal reply to everyone.

Good Morning Fellow Fasters: Today is Day Two for be and I'm hungry. Drank alot of the MC drink before I left the house, but as I got out and about, the hunger pangs began. I'm feeling a bit nervous because I have a job interview on Friday and now recognize how nerves and depression make me want to eat.
Last night I did not sleep at all. It is always like that on Day One of my fasts. Besides that, we had an earthquake around 12:30 a.m. this morning in Northern California with the epicenter being close to my home, and sleep was not forthcoming. I know as the days progress sleep will get better and those incredible dreams that I fast for will be upon me!! I kept telling myself how proud of myself that I was not taking any sleeping pills and how much of a benefit I was doing for my liver, kidneys and entire body.
The colonic I had yesterday really helped in moving things out and the throbbing headache that I had was gone and I felt several pounds lighter. Today, I had to really fight with myself about why I am doing this. This always happens around Day Two and I just have to push through. I did weigh myself last night and this morning. Old habits are hard to break. I really want to give this up because it is not healthy to have my emotions tied to a number on a scale.
So, with that Happy Fasting All!!!!
Peace & Blessings.

@qwerty988:
Congrats on everything you've accomplished thus far!
@sbarsotti:

@jhodi:
I drink nothing but water and a lot of it. I still get headaches. However uncomfortable they are, for me, I figure they are a detox of some sort. Thinking of them as a constructive things helps me to deal.
@commoncents:
Yup, these first few days can be tough! Keep focus and know that those hunger pains WILL subside. Sending out good thoughts for your job interview!
At the moment I'm feeling a little run down. I was out shopping way too long. Likely because I was moving so slow lol! I think I have enough things now to finish my pirate garb. Almost time to pull out the sewing machine. :)
I have a slight headache and my skin is starting to beak out a bit. Yup, detox! I've never had it come on so fast and strong. Don't know if that means I have extra toxins or that my body is becoming more efficient dealing with them each fast. Mainly, I hope it means I'll be out of the icks sooner.
Anyhow, think I'll go mess around with some of my new loot.
/cheers!

Thanks everyone for posting and fasting. It's so encouraging, makes me very happy!
As I wrote this morning, lots of driving today. Not easy on day three, would have been easier on a later day in the fast. I also realize that I really like to snack on road trips. That and when I am watching tv. The tv thing I already knew so I try to avoid watching when I am in the first part of my fast. I guess I know now that driving long hours is also right up there in the danger zone. Although I was fine today, still had quite a bit of juice. I probably didn't drink enough water actually. That's what I am going to have right now, a big glass of water with some lime juice and off to bed! It's way past my bedtime :))

So I stepped on the scale this morning hoping to see any sort of difference... Any.... since I've been hitting the gym and pretty much intermittent fasting until the juicer arrives... but no! Nothing! No change.
What the heck man. I've been at this weight for so long trying to get past it. I just want to see it move... just a little! It'd be different if clothes fit differently or ANYTHING... but they don't. Nothing is changing (except my skin).
So, I guess what I'm going to do it just stick to a fast. I found a way to drain the pulp until my actual juicer arrives.... time consuming but will be worth it I think to get a longer fast in. This morning I made a juice or rhubarb, two apples, watermelon, and kiwi. Juice is SO MUCH yummier sans pulp. I CANNOT WAIT for my juicer!! I have a second half waiting for me at home for lunch, then I'll make a veggie juice for lunch pt. 2 and veggie juice for dinner.
I have to wonder if part of my problem is due to the amount of fruits I consume. It is, after all, sugar. I see people on the 80-10-10 and I wonder how they do it. I WISH my body would appreciate it. But I don't think it does. Which makes me sad.. and I also have to wonder if bananas and I don't get along. I seem to get *ahem* tooty (and a very unfortunate case at that) when I consume bananas as a large rate. Like, for instance, banana ice cream. Which I LOVE LOVE LOVE and could eat all day.
The body is such a crazy thing.... I wish it came with a user manual. To be honest, I've never ever found a really effective route of weight loss. The only time I lose a significant amount of weight I didn't even TRY.... I had just returned home from a semester in Paris where I ate everything and it's grandmother and arrive back on American soil about 30lbs heavier. And just... puffy looking. Shortly after I moved out into my own place with my now husband, started walking the dogs a lot (because we lived in a condo) and ate weird meals... like... a can of pineapple for dinner or would make pasta or have trail mix. I just ate whatever appealed to me, and somehow I lost the weight and became pretty dang thin. I rack my brain for what was different...but can't quite figure it out.
Since then, I've gotten married and it's just been downhill (I also started a desk job). And I cannot find what my body wants... and it's just frustrating. I want to be where I was before, thin and healthy and happy... but even healthier. I go to the gym, I make wise choices for food. WTF man!

How old are you? I hardly release weight anymore either. I can do a 10 day juice fast and not really release any weight at all then just whatever was in my intestines. Slowly but surely I lose some though by sticking to it.

I hate pulp too. I always use a paint strainer bag. Even if I use my juicer I still put it through there because I like it completely pulp free!

sbarsotti I predict you are going to LOVE how the weight falls off once you start your juice fast!!
I've also gone through periods in my life when the weight just magically disappeared.... usually because I was either too happy.... or too busy.... or too heartbroken to eat! These are times I look back on as mini-fasts, my appetite just disappeared and I could go all day without even thinking about food. I'd turn around and suddenly all my fat was gone after just a few weeks of living like this.
Just relax and know you're going to see big results when that juicer comes!
I am meanwhile on Day #20 and battling temptation!!!!!
I started taking senna pills and I think it's doing such a great job of flushing out my system that maybe it's making me hungrier? My appetite has DEFINITELY returned and I'm thinking about food a lot right now. Part of me wonders if my body is telling me it's ready to start eating again?
But I know I still have more weight to let go of..... and also I'm too stubborn to quit before 30 days.
And even if I only lose one more inch during these last ten days, it's still worth it!
Oh well. Gonna make myself some SUPER YUMMY pineapple-watermelon-lime juice and chill out... also playing with my water to make it more fun, been adding ginger and lemon and cayenne and really enjoying it!
I just keep reminding myself: none of the foods I'm craving are leaving the planet. They'll all be there waiting for me when my fast is over.....
So great to hear from everyone -- you're all an inspiration to me!!

I love this quote qwerty and I have to remember this from here on out!!!
Yesterday was sooooooooo hard. If I can get through that day, I can get through anything.
So, as I told you all, I have an interview tomorrow. Me and my girlfriend did a dry run and drove to the interview site so that the day of, I would have no problems. The job is at a large unversity and it took 1 1/2 hours to find the building. I then got totally scared and kept thinking they'll never hire me and depressed. Attending church service really got me out of that space and I'm feeling better.
Then, a friend cooked a whole bunch of food for me and another friend and I went by his place to pick it up for my friend. I did not have the heart to tell him I was fasting. I handed the food off to my other friend and the smells. Oh my God!!! I then drove said friend to Whole Foods Market and she ate in my car as I drove us home. I even went inside and stared at all of the food, but knew I would feel disappointed if I broke the fast so I did not cave.
Found out another thing about myself today, I also love to eat when I am happy. I went on to campus and received the news that I had completed all the requirements for my college degree!!!!! After trying for 30 years, it is finally done and I want to eat so badly, but once again, know that I will feel more disappointed in the end.
So, . . . I am going to press on. Don't feel much hunger even though I'm not drinking enough of the MC drink or water. I have started weighing myself daily, once again and am happy about the weight loss for now, but I know it will slow down soon. Slept like a baby last night and had a dream that I got the job.
Happy Continued Fasting All!!!!
Peace and Blessings

I've heard that sometimes when people are trying to lose weight and start working out but don't see results or even gain weight, it can be because their muscles are swelling with water. The swelling can build up for days after a workout and take a while to go away.
The first time I went raw, the weight was flying off but as soon as I started some cardio, everything stopped.
Also, with all that pulp and food you've been consuming, your digestive system is still very much active and you're not going to see fasting results as quickly. But don't get discouraged. Everything you're doing is positive. Just think of it as you've been preparing your body for this amazing fast that you're about to embark on.
Day 4
I can see that I'm starting to lose water weight. In the past, by this time it has always been more dramatic. Perhaps this has something to do with going into detox so rapidly.
So far, this fast has been quite unique to any others I've done.

Of course you should do what you want but here is a thought on senna pills. They can maybe interfere with what your body naturally needs to do. Try to trust your body to eliminate toxins and other refuse, don't rush it because of a number on the scale.
Here is a good read in case you are interested.

Day 30 for me is almost over. I've been amazed and thrilled at the self control I've discovered within myself. I've lost more weight than I expected and my skin is clearer and I have smaller pores than I can ever remember. And I feel great! But, I'm definitely ready to eat. I'm going to ease back into food, starting with green smoothies for a few days, then I'll add soups, then I'll add 1-2 pieces of fruit for a few more days.
Around day 20 I also started to get some hunger pangs and struggle, though not too much, with wanting to quit. Instead, I began to make some dehydrated snacks and that helped me. I know they're waiting for me. I went through me recipes and watched youtube for some new ideas and found some great things to try when the time is right.
I also had minimal weight loss until around day 12. After that things began to pick up. Now, I seem to have stalled again, though I have hopes I will continue to lose even as I ease out of the fast.
It's great to see all the new faces. Hope you all have wonderful fasts and learn new insights about yourselves. Good luck to all with the weight loss!

Day 5 for me. Yesterday was not easy, but first day of period so it is what it is. Just had to work though it. I also ran 3 miles in the morning which is nothing for me but still I never know how it will work out in my fast. Some light kettlebell training this morning. See how that will go.
Stay strong all!!! Love you hear from you everyday...

Day two of official, 100% juice fast.
I think the few days prior with juice and fruit really helped. I had barely any hunger at all. The only thing is I want to eat for the sake of eating. I'm already focusing on the end of the road and how I'm going to properly break my fast, because I feel like that might be the hardest for me. Smoothies, soft fruits, soups.
This morning I also awoke with no hunger. I did my pilates reformer class with great concentration and body control.... I don't really feel weak at all. I actually feel pretty good. Maybe a little "fuzzy" at the moment, but not bad. I have to say I made a really gross juice last night and didn't drink it. I dumped it and went to the gym for 30 minutes of easy cardio. I came home, did some dry brushing, and hit the shower. When I got into bed, I got this crazy idea.... because I want to keep my metabolism up and roaring through this process I'm maintaining my workout regime and wanted to add cayanne. I've tried cayanne water several times... and each time found it a little... rough. So I thought, why not shoot it? So I get out of bed, put some cayanne in a shot glass mixed with a little lemon juice and water... and down the hatch.
Let me just say, this is a terrible idea. I was so sick to my stomach! BAD BAD BAD. Never again. I don't even know what I was thinking! It's kinda funny, though... I mean in theory it seems like not too bad.
So I think what I may do instead is juice/master cleanse to get the cayanne situation in. My normal juices, and one or two MC drinks as well. Which brings me to the question, can I use grade A syrup? Or must it be B? Does it really matter.... cause I have A already. Just curious.
Oh, and for the love of God I got on the scale to read one pound less. Thank you! I know it's not "fat loss"... but at least it moves. Moving is a good thing. I haven't seen a budge in WEEKS!
Sorry to keep this so long but there is one other thing. Does anyone else deal with the demons of, "How unhealthy is this? Not eating? Isn't this anorexia? Isn't this going to do more harm than good?" I keep running these things through my head..... playing mind games with myself. I obviously don't want this to be a negative experience or cause more hard to myself than good. Sometimes it's hard to know which shoulder angel to believe! Similar issues anyone? Or did you know this was positive from the start?

Hello all!! I was here last month and did 10 days. I was feeling so very, very confident in my abilities to do this, so I ate for one day with the plan of jumping back on the wagon. Well several hops on and off the wagon later, I realize that it's not that easy.
Today marks day one (again, but for REALS this time! lol). I'm drinking some pineapple/orange juice. It's tasting a little odd for some reason. Must have thrown a bad orange or something in the mix...oh well...I made a big pitcher and plan on drinking every oz.!!
I'm going to catch up on the thread now and see who all is here and where everyone is at. :heart

I'm pretty sure everybody has those thoughts running through their mind. Maybe not the same as yours but any other that might sabotage you. This is one of the things why fasting can be so great because it will give you the opportunity to learn from it and work through it. You did not jump into this without thinking (I guess) you thought about it and made a well informed decision. So dismiss those thoughts. I know it's easier said then done, I have mine too. For me it helps to write a log during fasts and read previous posts about it. Also what my goals are and why I am doing this. Just short notes, nothing that takes an enormous amount of time but it helps. I always write down: You can stop whenever you want, but NEVER when you feel bad. I have that one from Aleesha and it has helped me a great deal. Remember it's a journey, every day is different and every fast is different. But you can always learn something.
Oh and don't over think things!

Thanks Hanneke. It's really back and fourth... mind games with myself. To just eat this or that... my cravings are all for raw foods but still. So then I tell myself... what if I just fast every other day and eat really light on the in-between days? Ugh. So hard. Plus I have two events coming up... birthday dinner for my husband where I pretty much need to eat. I know it's silly, but his family thinks I eat really strange... and I get a lot of comments and judgement. So in this situation it's easier just to pick at a salad and call it a day. No one wants their in-laws to pass unwelcome judgement... especially when they live about... oh... 3 minutes away. Second is a girl's weekend, which is sure to be filled with lots of liquor and partying. I can abstain from alcohol for the most part, but there will be lots of food. I'll be bringing as much of my own as I can.
In any case, fasting is proving to be much harder mentally than I anticipated. Everything is smooth after day 3 right? Riiiight??
And I tried a MC drink for lunch. FOUL. It's just... sweet. I dunno if my portions weren't right or what... but it is raunch! I much prefer my juices.... but even there I'm already kind of tired of them. Hmm..

I'm so happy I found this thread. I am on day 8 and have been having a rough time on and off. One problem is that I haven't been taking in enough liquids so I increased the amount of water I'm drinking. My main issue is that I have heard/read that we should be taking in a lot of greens and I can't stand the green drinks. I've been doing mostly fruit and try to drink a green drink daily but I end up taking a few sips and going back to fruit juice.
I was weighed at the doctor's office the day I started and will try to make an appt around the 30 day mark - if I continue that long. I've not set a goal because I was afraid of dropping out because of my dislike for green drinks. I have a scale at home but don't want to get hung up on the weight. I have a lot to lose but am afraid I'll get discouraged if it didn't drop fast enough for me.
I'll be checking back frequently as I really enjoy seeing how people are doing. I'd like to remind people to not post about food-food. There were a couple mentions here and they are for 2 of the things I've really been craving. I'd like to be able to read and not be triggered because I'd like those things right now!!! Thanks!

Shanti,
I never specifically made any green drinks during my fasting, but I usually add a handful of greens to my fruit juices. Usually the taste from the greens was not noticeable or minimal, but nothing I couldn't stand. I also used alot of vegetables that are mild tasting--cucumber, summer squash/zucchini, even lettuce, and I especially like spinach. Also, if you like ginger or garlic in your juices, these help to mask some flavors. Good luck!
Oh, don't forget to look through the list of favorite juices at the top of the fasting forum, it's a great place to find new and different ideas.

Hi everyone! So glad to see you all~
After my 30 day fast I decided to fast the first week to ten days at the first of each month. I'm traveling the first week of September but don't want to wait till October so am doing it a week early this time- starting tomorrow. Did great breaking my fast for the first four days and then not so good so am sooo ready to juice again for the next seven days. Loved how I felt when juice fasting.
Less congestion
More energy
sleeping better
no night sweats
flatter tummy
less leg & back pain and overall inflammation
Yup.........gonna be a juicy day tomorrow~:wuv

@ imaquillen........... CONGRATULATIONS on making 30 days!!!!!!!!! woo hoo! Are you continuing the fast? If ending now, will you be posting about your transition?
@ Hanneke......... Thank you SO MUCH for the link!! I wasn't taking the senna to lose weight, though. Without getting too graphic, my body was wanting to eliminate every few days but was having a REALLY hard time doing so..... it was awful! But once I started taking a little senna before bed the eliminations were coming MUCH more comfortably. The senna makes it a non-issue......
Good morning all!
Day #22 here and I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who's struggled around the 20 day mark!!
Mostly because my weight loss has slowed and I have houseguests so there's lots of eating all around me.... and I'm really starting to miss eating! But I've decided to re-commit to finishing my 30 days and will just increase my exercise to try to get the weight loss moving again.
I've also really appreciated this time to think about my new vegan diet -- which I feel even more committed to now than I did when I began the fast. I feel like it's going to be much easier to stick to now, compared to a juice fast!
So, these next 8 days are me at war with this last final stubborn inch: I am going win just as a matter of principle!!

Good morning fasters!!!!
I'm jumping in the pool today! I want to do the MC because I really enjoy that type of fast, but I think it's too much for me to handle right now, so I'm sticking to water, juicing, and Coconuts. My life is very busy and juicing will keep me sane!!! :)
It seems like every time I say how long I'm gonna fast I shoot myself in the foot, so I'm just gonna take it day by day and see where it leads me.
I am committed to fasting today. If I choose to break my fast, I will not break it today. My goal is to draw closer to God as I fast and meditate as I cleanse. I will take my fast one day at a time and only think about today.
I so appreciate this thread for support!

Renee~
What kind of juicer do you have? I make juice once or twice a day, several kinds at a time...prep it all then juice make it...maybe 2 qts worth, so I only have to clean it once or twice....doesn't take too long but I like to make enough to make it worth my while. I would def. not let it sit and make sure to clean mine before I drink the juice even...1. bacteria and 2. the pulp will dry and really clog the screen making it was harder to clean later. I'm loving the Omega Vert because you can pour a little water thru after the first juice and it rinses it clean so the taste of the first doesn't get in the next....pretty cool feature. I made some honeydew for the first time and that was so good, very mild. Not too crazy about cantaloupe but do love watermelon with some lime in it.
Thank you jhodi~ *smiling* I will pop over to your thread.

I have a Jack LaLanne centralfrugal (I think that's how you say that) juicer. I really need to get another one, but that's the one I have right now. I think Aleesha said that with that one you have to drink the juice right away, can't store it. So, for now I think I'm stuck cleaning after every juice. I'll balance it with coconut water and sometimes I can use my Vitamix too, which is much easier to clean. If I make it in my Vitamix and strain it, can I store it then?
Fasting is a challenge for me at work, though. I had to taste a couple of things (I'm a Raw Chef). But, I'm not gonna let that stop my fast today. I feel really good and I've had several great BM's. I'm looking forward to being off tomorrow so that I can relax and fast without having to un-cook for anyone. I think I'll go get a massage and pedicure! I *SO* deserve that!!! :)

Hi all,
Day 6 for me and it's smooth sailing today. I am actually very active and I like it a lot. Lots of walking, some running and KB workouts. I am actually not drinking that much juice in the weekends, more water.
Today made a tomato juice with fennel and celery sticks. Also a habanero and salt. Was very yummy!
I have an Omega vert juicer. I think it leaves quite a bit of pulp still in it, I still strain it with a nut mylk bag. Does anyone else have that experience with this juicer? Maybe I'm just particular, I really don't like pulp in my juice
Stay strong!! Love all your comments :heart

YUM -- I haven't tried fennel yet, but will get some this week!!
I LOVE those spicy tomato-based juices. I usually have one mid-day, with garlic and parsley and lemon and lots of greens and some sea salt. I like to add beets to the mix, too. For me though it's all about the hot peppers!!
Anyhow: Day #23 and I really feel like I've turned a corner. I was SO DONE with this fast just a few days ago -- but now I'm back on board and you couldn't pay me to break this fast before 30 days!!!
I feel so much calmer since being on this fast. I also feel like I'm back in partnership with my body and I'm really looking forward to maintaining a super-clean vegan diet when this fast is over. I've been exercising regularly and eating vegan -- but not nearly enough raw and way too much junk food and alcohol.
Probably the worst thing I did though was over-eating. I'm hoping this fast will be a re-set so I can feel comfortable skipping meals again when I'm not hungry -- and just STOP eating when I feel full, instead of cleaning my plate all the time (and going back for more).
I guess fasting makes you more conscious of everything you're putting into your body.... this is an awareness I had just completely lost over the past year and I have so much gratitude toward this process for bringing it back to me! It really is a gift.
Well, that's it for now.
Keep on going people!!! Everyone is doing so great!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope it's not too late. I see it's too early to start Sept. fasting. On Aug. 27,2011, I started my first juice fast. It would have been my oldest son's 33rd birthday (killed in auto accident 15 yrs. ago) and it happens to be the day Hurricane Irene made landfall in Wilmington (close to) N.C. My niece gave birth to her first baby as the hurricane was hitting at 5am in the Wilmington N.C. hospital. So this a perfect day to start a fast for 30 days.

Day 7 today. I went on a 5 mile run this morning. Now I am a runner for 30 years now and usually I really have to work through the first 2 miles or so. They are never fun. But this time I felt like I was running on clouds from beginning to end. It was amazing. I love love running while fasting. I really have to be careful to go slow because I know I will get too hungry during the day if I go too fast.
For the rest I am doing great today. I feel just in the zone, for now, you never know how long that lasts ;)

Hi fasters!
It's been a fabulous 2 days of delicious juice!!! I've had wonderful BM's and feel great! But, I'm choosing to end my fast tomorrow. I have to back to work in my Raw Kitchen and I don't think I can handle working and fasting again...the last day was extremely hard because I can't make Raw meals and not taste them. I'm gonna try again to fast on my days off because I do quite well then.
Thanks for letting me fast with you all for a couple of days! It's been a blissfully cleansing experience!!!!
Hugs,
Lady Lemon-Nee

Hello!
You guys are all so good at this haha. Well I am beginning a 5 day fast today. I usually stop exercising during a fast but this time I want to continue my usual bike rides. Wish me luck!

CONGRATS on two wonderful days -- see you soon, Lady Lemon-Nee!
Morning all!
Today is Day 24 and I am THRILLED to announce that after an epic 8-day struggle, I finally conquered that last super-stubborn inch and made my weight loss goal for the fast!!!!!! woo-hoo!
I still have more weight to release, so I'm happy there's still six days left, plus I'm doing a full week afterwards to transition back with mostly fruits. I'm hoping to tackle another inch or so during this remaining time.....
I have to say exercise is really helping and as Hanneke mentioned above there's nothing like a really good workout while fasting!!!! I LOVE IT. It just feels great.
I've had houseguests and yesterday was my dad's birthday, so there was lots of food to celebrate last night. It was tough! But I got myself a honeydew melon and juiced half of it and had two big glasses of sweet creamy delicious juice.... and honestly, I was kind of glad to be fasting and not having to feel obligated to eat all that stuff.
Out of the house today, so might not get too much juice in..... visiting a friend, but bringing a watermelon just in case :eat
Happy juicing everyone!

Ain't that the truth!!! Eating can be much more difficult than fasting....

Hi all!!
Day 8 I believe. This fast is great. I remember that my last 10 day fast was kind of a struggle. The 21 day fast before that was a breeze. Funny and interesting how every fast is different. Last time it didn't seem that I got into the fasting zone, this time I am definitely there. I am not hungry feel happy and am very aware of things.
I will do another fast in October but then the brutal Canadian winter is coming and I am not sure if I can fast then, we'll see.
Thanks for commenting all!! It really helps, I love to read them!

Day 9! YEAY I am doing so good and tomorrow will be the last day already. I guess that's a good thing. That way I will look forward to my next fast. I would love to continue but I am going on a trip to the Okanagan with my husband and will see my children there. So I really want to be able to join them in everything. I obviously need some time to transition.
Funny thing is that I have not released any weight for a few days but my clothes feel a lot more loose. So I am losing size but the scale doesn't show it. Funny how most of us women (I sure do) keep on being focused on a number on the scale even though I know I am doing ok!
I hope you all are doing well and keep on juicing!

So, spent much time discussing transitioning back with my bf (a mostly-raw vegan) and I've decided to use the remainder of my 30 days to do a gradual transition.
I think because I'm so firmly committed to sticking to the 30 days, I won't mess up this transition because in my mind I'm continuing my fast but just adding a little fruit for the final week.
I feel good about the decision because mentally and physically I'm in such a great place with this fast. I reached my weight loss goal, am enjoying the process and not feeling hungry or even craving food at all anymore!
So I didn't think I was quitting out of frustration or hunger or boredom, but rather making a plan for safely transitioning back that I can actually DO.
So last night, on Day 24, I had a small bowl of grapes! I was careful to go very slowly and chew them extra well.... I think it took me an hour just to eat the handful! A few grumblings in the stomach, but no pains or other reaction.
This morning so far I've just had lemon water and some honeydew-watermelon juice. I've got some prunes soaking (I'll have those for dinner) and plan on having green juice followed by a few fresh apricots for lunch.
I've also bought 2 cantelopes that I'll be slowly eating over the next few days along with my juice.
I'm excited because I was SO SO worried about not having the willpower to handle the transition in a sane way.... but this feels very right to me.
I'll continue to post here throughout this next week -- happy juicing all!!!

QWERTY congratulations on your success. That is so inspiring. You may want to post all of that from your previous post on my transitioning thread because they frown upon you talking about specific foods here on the main fasting thread.
DAY TEN for me!!! WOW!!!! Can I go ten more???? we'll see!

Sounds like the decision you made is a solid one qwerty! I'm sure you'll be successful.
My day was good. I was thinking about food a lot even though I was not that hungry, don't know what that's all about. Oh well..
I made a wonderful tomato based juice tonight. 5 tomatoes, cabbage, small rutabaga, garlic, habanero, cilantro and 2 stalks of celery. Ad salt, heat up slightly....YUM!!!! It was really really good.
I really need salt everyday, I can't live without it. Although I want to try to do without for a few days on my next fast, see how I feel. I have a pretty low blood pressure maybe that's why. Or maybe I just like salty things!
Hope to hear from all of you! Stay strong!

Everyone is doing so great with their fast. Today is day 5 for me. I feel so tired, lathargic, painful joints, etc. I will break my fast in the morning...as nature intended it to be (break--fast). I got some watermelon and some cherries left over that I didn't juice yet. Oh, btw, I DID lose weight!!! 8 lbs. I am blessed with that amount considering I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism for 15 yrs. and I have grave hormonal depletion. I normally can't eliminate weight this quickly.
Thanks to all of you for your posts. I never felt alone. Got loads of info also. I am starting the 30 day raw-food challenge tomorrow. It'll be tough. 2 yrs. ago I did 30 days all raw, then ate like a famished soldier. I will arm myself better with the support of everyone here this time. No need for me think I'll ever be perfect. I do think I can be the best person/spirit I was intended to be.
Peace out.....Bonnie (who loves blueberries)
