View Full Version : GOING RAW AND STARTING WITH A 10 day fastening?

Hey there everyone! Hubby and I are going Raw! YAY! We are starting the 2nd week of Augest due to some family plans we have going on until then. But anyways that gives me time to gether and get information. OK...so we are totally unhealthy people. We eat ALOT of fatty starchy yucky foods. I wweigh almost 260 lbs...elk...and Hubby weighs about 220 lbs. We are both looking to lose weight and just be healthy. I drink ALOT of Soda (Dr Pepper) and he drinks alot of coffee...so we want to get away from that as well. We have 5 children and we want to start trying for more...but Id like to be a lot healthier and drop some weight before then. SO......we want to start off with a 10 day juice fest...is 10 days a good amount of days? Is this too short? Too long? Just right? I want to be sure we get all the yucky toxins and etc out of us before we go 100% raw. I can jump right into it..I was a vegetarian before and mostly ate raw so I know I can jump right into it. Just need a little more info. Hubby thinks he cant becuase he says he needs lots of protien. He states "My body needs alot of protien becuase I burn so much off at work" so Ill need some help with that as well. He may not stick to Raw...which is fine with me...but I really want to. He is definatley going to do the 10 day juice fest with me though to do a natural body cleanse.
ANYWAYS....some questions I have are:

When juicing how much juice should I be drinking daily? Everyday and how much at a time?
Is there a list anywhere online of certain things I need to make sure I add into my juice?
Juiceing is not the same as green smoothies right? Just want to be sure?
Do I add water to my juice? Curious...would I have to buy the distilled water?
Are there any supplements that I need to take while juiceing?
Where can I find some great recipes for a beginner juicer?

You should jump over to the fasting thread. I am on the last day of my fast but there are till others on.
I drink as much as I need. Some days I did mostly water and a couple glasses juice. Yesterday I needed quite a bit of juice. Just drink your juice when you feel you need it. It will keep you on your fast. You don't need to add anything to your juices. Juicing is not the same as green smoothies. You can add water to your juice to thin it out if you like. It should be purified water. Supplements aren't needed. However you can take them if you feel better about doing that. Go to the fasting thread to find juice recipies. I like to keep it simple. One or two items at a time.
