View Full Version : Teeth are getting really bad - no more fruit!

l went to the dentist this morning and got really bad news. A bunch of teeth are broken and a bunch of them have holes in them. One tooth even has to be removed. Six months ago this was not the case. When l was on the SAD diet l never cleaned my teeth regularly and everything was o.k, but since being raw l have been cleaning them alot more (up to three times a day) and swishing water in my mouth after eating. Well, my mouth is a disaster, at this rate l will be wearing false teeth in a few years.
l might limit my fruit to a piece or two a day, but the way l feel, l wanna get rid of it completely because l feel it is trouble. l feel it's time to ditch the fruit and go 100% sproutarian...yep, just live off sprouts completely and eat nothing else.
l am completely devestated and annoyed at what this garbage we call fruit has done to me. NO MORE!!!
l accept that some people do well on fruit, but l don't. l get good calcium, vitamin D, omega 3 etc and my teeth and bones feel stronger than ever, but the acids are rotting my teeth. l can't keep up with it and know it is the fruit because l never used to have problems despite cleaning my teeth alot less.
Lots of work to get done and also having my old mercury fillings removed. The dentist tried filling my head with rubbish and said that the mercury wasn't dangerous and that l need flouride, but l wasn't having none of that; l pointed my finger at her, looked her straight in the eye, spoke with a deep authoritative voice and l set her straight, told her of the government cover-up regarding flouride and said l had the secret government documentation to prove it. Also said a bunch of other things about the cover-ups in big pharma and how she has been fed a bunch of lies. But l spoke nicely to her, but with a no nonsense approach.
Goodbye fruit and good riddance you sucker!

Sugar = dental decay. I heard somewhere that the only animal in nature to get dental decay are honey bears, heh. I think the key is probably just not to eat all fruit. More veggies than fruit is my general take on it.
Regarding mercury, I had all the mercury removed from my mouth for cosmetic reasons. I noticed no difference whatsoever in how I felt or my general health.
As for flouride, I do occasionally use it to rinse my mouth with... probably a few times a week. I do it because I have very sensitive teeth and the flouride totally helps that. I imagine it's like anything, in large quantities, it's probably not good. But it's been extremely helpful to me with my sensitive teeth.
I am looking forward to my dental appointment next month to see if my good dental health has changed since going raw.

lnteresting. l wonder why that is. Maybe the toxic flouride is killing the nerves around the teeth and you stop feeling feel pain after a while.
Authorities say flouride is completely safe in 1 ppm, but people in the know know otherwise. My experiments also confirm what the people `in-the-know are saying also. Besides, the authorities really know what's going on, l have the documentation to prove it.

Are you brushing your teeth directly after eating? Generally it is best to wait 30 minutes after eating before brushing or else you can erode the teeth easier.
Also what kind of tooth brush are you using? I reccomend getting a soft one and look up videos on proper brushing(a lot of people do it wrong).
Last comment, make sure the fruit you eat is ripe! If its unripe that can lead to a whole world of problem, especially teeth decay.
My teeth are in perfect condition, as well as many other high fruit eaters that have done it for years. Look at all the sides and possibilities before taking out the fruit completely. :) Here is a blog post I think you may find interest in: http://sweetjuicyfreelee.com/2011/03/29/i-lost-all-my-teeth-as-a-fruitarian/

Sugar = dental decay.
My dentist says that is false and acid = dental decay.
And I agree with not brushing for 30 minutes after eating fruit. Apparently it scrubs the acids into you teeth so to speak. Just rinse well with water after you eat.

Aw i'm sorry this is happening to you! This was my fear and I feel the same way! Ever since i started trying to eat more fruit i've noticed i don't like the way my teeth feel or look. They looked more "yellow" and sad lol. I think the sugars are causing me to get a cavity but i can't tell just yet and i just hate how my teeth feel overall after eating lots of fruits. And no i'm not brushing my teeth right after either i usually brush once in the morning once at night i might rinse with water but i don't have a toothbrush nor the time to just go brush my teeth after every meal. I agree too much fruit is like too much candy, it's addictive your body get addicted to the sugars! It's better to eat it in moderation for your teeth health and overall being lol.

sorry to hear that your teeth are in such a bad way. I didn't realise you ate much fruit; I thought you mostly ate sprouted stuff and green juices. I have heard that those eating a high cellulose diet give their teeth a hell of a pounding. True herbivore teeth grow continually and ours don't so we will wear them out eventually if we eat these tough foods.
How did your meeting with the Ethiopia-crack-guru go? Hope it was what you were looking for.

You are experiencing what l experience. My teeth/gums hurt after eating too much fruit (sometimes 4 or 5 apples) and my teeth have gone more yellow. l don't brush straight after eating.

sorry to hear that your teeth are in such a bad way. I didn't realise you ate much fruit; I thought you mostly ate sprouted stuff and green juices.
l do eat mainly sprouted foods but my fruit consumption has been more than l feel it should be in recent months. Sometimes up to 8 apples a day.
I have heard that those eating a high cellulose diet give their teeth a hell of a pounding. True herbivore teeth grow continually and ours don't so we will wear them out eventually if we eat these tough foods.
l have read that too. Fiber from sprouts is much softer on the teeth than vegetable fiber, and much more nutritious too. Try eating a well sprouted mung or adzuki bean or alfalfa sprouts v's celery, carrots or brocolli...there is no comparison. There is so much rough fiber in vegetables that the nutritients are difficult to absorb where-as sprouts (well sprouted beans and seeds) are similar to fruit in composition. l often do smoothies so l don't have to chew (saves teeth) because l always have a habit of chewing chunks off my lips and face when l eat for some reason, so if l eat sprouts for a week l will severely mutilate my inner cheeks and lips at least 20 times a day (extremely painful) and my face will be swollen after the week and a fair bit of my inner cheek missing and cannibalised. That has always happened when l have eaten raw foods so l must blend until l can cut my food consumption well down and try feeding off prana, weed/grass juice, sprout juice and sunshine instead. l know people who eat almost nothing because they meditate and are highly spiritual...hopefully l can get to that level so l can do the same.
How did your meeting with the Ethiopia-crack-guru go? Hope it was what you were looking for.
My sproutarian friend is meeting as we speak and is checking out the destination. Amazing insights this man. He moved from overseas to Australia for a specific reason. He is either crazy or on the money, l don't know which yet lol, but many things point out that year 2012 will be different to previous years.

Do you really eat nohing but sprouts now? How that going for you? I was very very VERY strongly considering eating mainly sprouts as I have read they contain the same sorts of nutrients as their grown counterparts. If that is the case then why not seeds and things can be stored in their dry state for a year or two and if you sources them right can be super cheap. They can also be grown at home organically.
How many pounds of kgs of sprouts would you have to eat a day to maintain good health?

l wrote a page and lost the whole lot, so here it is in just a few words.
* am forced to eat fruit now to make up for calories.
* had the biggest set-back and bad luck with sprouting ever. All my main food supplies have been wiped out. Any of the staples l can get rot (adzuki and mung). Been waiting many months for mung but the farms supplies have been wiped out also. Have bought 30kg of adzuki beans since last year from the very best farms and everything dies. Bad weather has caused disaster.
* have to rely on lentils and various sprouted grains for my main carbs, and eat fruit as extra. That's all l can do. So yes, basically my main carb meal is sprouted lentils with various lots of sprouted bird seed with lots of sprouted green thrown in...not so bad, but l DO miss my mung and adzukis really badly.
The challenges would break most people, but l am hanging in there. l make do with what l have and still get 2,000 calories a day.
The protein and greens are no problem, but the concentrated carbs are a nightmare that i've been trying to solve for months. Had set-back after set-back....never had suck bad luck with the legume situation in 15 years, but it is making me a better person because of it.

Do you really eat nohing but sprouts now?
Yep, but l also eat weeds, kelp and algae.
How that going for you?
Best thing ever. l feel AMAZING!!! Eating fruit or drinking vegie juice brings you to a much lower level. Nothing beats the grasses, algae and the sprouts...totally superior food, you can't lose when you do that. Great nutrition, no hunger, feel great and like superman.
How many pounds of kgs of sprouts would you have to eat a day to maintain good health?
Not much.
eg, 100 grams of sesame seed, 80 grams of chia seed (about 65 - 70 grams of fat in total for both seeds), 120 grams of legume, 120 grams of grains, lots of sprouted greens and grasses, kelp and algae's. That gives me about 2,000 calories. When you sprout it all it makes quite alot of food. l would like the extra mung and adzuki to bring it to 2,500 so the fat ratio goes down, but this is the best l can do at the moment, that's why l have been adding more fruit in recently, but l will ditch the fruit soon (at least for a while) and try reducing my seed intake alittle (maybe take 80 grams of sesame and 70 grams of chia) when l get back on the mung and adzuki beans properly. Diet isn't perfectly balanced right now but it is still quite good considering the restrictions l currently have.
l tried living on spouted peas but they are disgusting so l have to go back to grains, but l do throw in some sprouted peas.
The sprouted sesame, chia, sunflower greens, alfalfa and kelp smoothies taste like a milk shake.
l rotate about 25 different sprouts in total.

Two words: oil pulling.
THAT is how to heal your teeth. I won't explain, just look it up if you don't already know about it. It will change your life.
I couldn't even bite into an apple a couple years ago. I could barely chew anything. My teeth were full of visible holes. After a few years eating raw and oil pulling, the holes are slowly filling in with new bone. I stopped drinking fluoridated water maybe ten years ago and cut out ALL fluoride in toothpaste and what not around 5. It took that long to reverse the damage and begin healing. I eat a lot of fruit, nuts, seeds, tons of greens, a lot of veggies. I oil pull every morning and have for years now. I brush my teeth with herbal tooth powder. Don't use any toothpaste, even the all natural fluoride free kind. They all contain glycerine which coats the teeth and stops them from remineralizing. I've seen evidence of this in my own teeth. The cavities wouldn't heal until I stopped using toothpaste.
And please for the love of the Lord, stay AWAY from fluoride. My mouth was destroyed after twenty some years of drinking heavily fluoridated water before I began doing the research and finding out the truth about it. Not only does it WEAKEN your teeth (yes, I am sorry but you are being lied to by commercials and dentists and ANYONE who says it's good) but it completely messes up other systems of the body as well. You are in for some pain if you keep ingesting that stuff and honestly I'm shocked that any raw foodists would do so. :( Extremely toxic stuff.

I was a strong fruit eater and never had problem with my teeth. I started to have teeth sensitivity only after getting my filling removed.
I brush my teeth in the morning and night only.
Now i flux them regularly (morning, night and during the day)
I use an crush Himalayan salt with raw coconut oil and swirl my mouth with it.
I no longer use toothpaste but a special soap for my teeth, (you could use a herb natural soap if you want), i buy it on line from upayal and natural.
I am eating more fruits now and especially in the morning. I find that it works best for me.
You can reverse entirely your teeth decay. You need to flush the area often but no brush unless morning or night.
Research with David Wolfe, he has this woman that was an expert on that with his new program. Maybe Matt Mornarch sell those product, you will need to check.
All the best!

Yes, l am very anti flouride and actively tell people to avoid the rotten stuff.
l filter out 90% of the flouride currently, but l am looking at being very inconvenienced by getting a new elaborate set-up (looks like a laboritory and will need custom work to have it installed properly) and going the whole 100%.

as long as fluoride helps with sensitivity, I will use it to rinse with a few times a week. I don't drink fluoridated water, i don't ingest fluoride, i simply rinse with it and it helps immensely with tooth sensitivity. For as little as I use it, I am really not worried.. have been using it for several years now and my teeth are in perfect shape. :-) So, I say, judge for yourself how bad your tooth sensitivity is.. if you don't have that problem, then don't use it. If you do, and the herbal remedies don't work for you, I certainly would not discount that as a solution.

Instead of saying good bye to fruits do keep your teeth clean and brush your teeth twice in a day. There are some fruits good for teeth like apples, bananas, strawberry, orange and watermelon.
Been eating apples for the last 3 months (nothing else) and my teeth are worse than ever.

You know what's interesting... i have a toothache tonight (i have always had problematic teeth fromnot being able to visit a dentist for the first 20 yrs of my life), and the first thing i went to grab was the medical grade aloe that a dentist gave me years ago. just a dab of it, and sore gums, etx, are soothes. it occurred to me that this might be something that is raw friendly, though i would hesitate to recommend doing it if it is not medical grade, only because i have never tried rubbing a fresh aloe leaf on my gums. Anyway, just thought I would throw that out there for Mr. Raw in caseyou have any discomfort from your bad teeth.

Remember what I told you last time Mr. Raw? Don't brush after fruit!
What protects the teeth is the slime layer - both fruit acid and brushing remove that.
I only brush my teeth about 1 or 2 times per day. I go to sleep without brushing my teeth. No cavities at all in the past 20 years.
Your body is set up to protect itself, and be in harmony. I really only brush for other people, lol. If it's just me, I let it go til my mouth yells at me "brush my teeth!"
I have some sensitivities due to a stressful misalignment of restorations that I didn't know were a problem til my new dentist, but it caused some gum recession (now it is fixed, he just needed to file down the restoration a bit.... Fluoride helps fill the more porous area that have been exposed byt he recessed gum. I have Rx toothpaste that I use only rarely, and I get 2x year fluoride treatments to strengthen these area and reduce sensitivity.
I also don't like fluoride in the water, but remember - it is a naturally occurring mineral, and like everything else - a certain amount is beneficial, and too much is harmful. And I prefer to get it topically for the teeth rather than systemically....
One last note - Lots and lots and lots of dentists are unscrupulous. They make a lot more money off fillings than cleanings.
Get a second, and even third opinion. Make sure you're getting competent care that is for the best of your teeth - not the dentists' wallet.

Even flouride at 1 ppm is way too much. l filter out 90% of the 1ppm from the water supply. Like mercury, very little is needed. Too much in the regular water and in toothpaste.

I am sorry to hear that your teeth are becoming the way you described. As far as i know, sugar itself is not bad for teeth, it is the bacteria in your mouth that stars consuming the sugar and producing acid that attacks the tooth enamel and causing tooth decay.
Now, fluoride can do 3 things for your teeth: 1. it promotes remineralization; 2. it makes teeth more resistant to decay; 3. it inhibits the development of oral bacteria. So yes, as far as your teeth are concerned, fluoride can help. The downside is that fluoride can be poisonous. It seems like a catch-22 situation, doesn't it?
However, are you getting enough calcium and phosphorus in your diet? These are essential macronutrients and are directly responsible for the health of your bones and teeth. Lastly, I also would not advise on narrowing down your diet to just sprouts. It is never a good idea to reduce the variety of food.

lnteresting view points here, especially about flouride inhibiting the development of oral bacteria, but then again it is supposed to inhibit many good things too.

Yes, the sprouted sesame and soaked chia seeds do most of the work.
Lastly, I also would not advise on narrowing down your diet to just sprouts. It is never a good idea to reduce the variety of food.
Afew well meaning people have said that. Sprouts cover quite alot of different foods: nuts, seeds, legumes and grains. lf l draw from those foods, minimize fruit, eat weeds, grass and algae l can't see how l can be eating much better. l know that l won't be eating animal sources and l would be reluctant to eat vegetables either. l would rather exist on weeds, grass, algae and sprouts than eat what most vegans do...a plain diet of fruit, vegies and unsprouted seeds. BUT...l am always open to being persuaded dfifferently if you have good info as to why l shouldn't be living on the foods that l do. HHI do similar things (reduce fruit consumption and keep vegies as a secondary thing) and they do very well, but l am open to being told otherwise if you have some facts for me.

 WOW... Please change what you're brushing with!! Fluoride absolutely DOES NOT help to 'remineralize' anything!! If you brush with a paste/soap/powder that doesn't have fluoride OR glycerine and eat enough greens your teeth will remineralize... I speak from experience, I have had sensitive teeth all my life until I stopped using fluoride/glycerine toothpastes and I now ice doesn't even affect them! No Pain! .... Glycerine COATS your teeth keeping them from proper mineralization and it can take up to 20+ brushings to get it off with heavy usage of glycerine additive toothpastes... using fluoride will not only add to your toxic load even further but will give you brain fog. Make sure you get your trace minerals, as well.

have you tried making your own toothpaste and using a straw for everything with lots of greens. I bought glass straws and use them for everything i drink except water. My teeth feel great and i eat greens for lunch daily and drink greens daily. I'm just turning into a green person lol. I did awhile back give up toothpaste and make my own. After every meal, i rinse my mouth with water but never brush after eating or wait a half hour. I drink at least 60oz of reverse osmosis water each day. I brush morning/night and floss at night. Here is my toothpaste recipe that i use and works great.
4 tablespoons baking soda
2 tablespoon virgin coconut oil oil melted
3 teaspoon xyitol
15 drops of pepperment oil
Mix together and seal in tight jar.

what she actually said was she didn't like it in water but that fluoride is naturally occurring.
I know, I was just pointing that out because a lot of people aren't aware of it. :) I'm sure those on this forum are more aware than most.

For a few days what I did was I used Hydrogen Peroxide and Listerine. Your gums might bleed at first but then they stop once they start to heal. Of course, the Hydrogen Peroxide is tasteless be careful of not swallowing a lot. I noticed a major difference after I did this for a few days and then I moved onto toothpaste for sensitive teeth.
