I am on my fifth day of no coffee, I am drinking teecheno. Has anyone tried this? It's really good, but very expensive. I am feeling really foggy and tired these days, is this normal? (oh, I have also eliminated white sugar and flour, i am doing this slow). Why is coffee bad for us? I know I drink way too much and I need to cut it out of my life, but what is the reason why it's not good for our body?

i've gone off coffee a number of times....the easiest was when I was 100% raw otherwise. I just got over it much more quickly.
I'm a fan of gradual, cut out 1 cup every 3/4 days. At one cup - go to 1/2. then do 1 day without, 2nd day - do a 1/2 cup - then quit altogether. If you are pretty much raw, this schedule will make it easy to quit.
Also - It helps to towards the end - no sugar/creamer. then I just sip what is needed to avoid painful withdrawal. But - did it a few too many times, got to like the black too!
Good luck!

I thought I replied to this thread ...
I'm in the other camp. Give it up cold and suffer a couple of days of hell! I gave up diet coke almost 90 days ago. I went from about 4 litres a day to zero. It hurt but only for two, maybe three days.
I've not had any craving for it at all once the withdrawal subsided.
I remember when I quit coffee, what helped me the most was staying hydrated and eating lots of greens, microgreens, sprouts and seaweeds. This is alkalizing, and hydration is very beneficial, not to mention the micronutrients. Fats with omega 3s in balance with the 6s (1:1-4 ratio) to nourish all the membranes in the body and balance hormones, and the occasional small amounts of low glycemic fruit from berries like blueberries, raspberries, etc. in the greens to help tonify and rebalance the adrenals, and the lympatic system.
Protein is in all that, keeping this in mind and getting as much protein as you can from these food groups. Nuts and seeds help, green powders, sprouts, sea veggies and greens.
Lemon juice in water helps too, to alkalize yourself here and there as coffee is acidic.

It took me two years to be able to quit. I found out they put msg in some coffee chain (highly addictive).
What worked for me was when i accepted to feel my emotions with the though of choosing not to have a coffee. For me, i found out that i was bored at my work and it was like a suppressor.
Coffee make it hard to loose fat, it utilizes the calcium of your bone. Every day will get easier. I used the teccino six months after i stopped the coffee and occasionally afterward. Now, i don't use that at all. It was fall time and i started to miss coffee again, but it helped me to hold on. I am coffee free for over 11 years and i don't miss it a bit. I earn back my freedom because this is what addiciton is, we are trapped in this illusion. Drink green smoothie, they heal addiction.
You are doing the right thing to ditch that substance.
All is well
When I went raw I also gave up coffee cold turkey. Those were the worst few days ever. I thought I was going to die. I had vertigo (couldn't stand straight), splitting headaches, and was just exhausted. I was generally useless!
Didn't take long before I was OK, though! Staying hydrated and drinking green smoothies and exercising will all help.
You can do this!

I've had Teeccino and it may mimic the experience of drinking coffee and taste and color but it doesn't get rid of the morning foggy feeling. I've also used wheatgrass powder in water as a morning pick me up and it really gave me a lot of energy and cleared away the cobwebs. I don't need it much anymore but i still use it as a boost sometimes.

Ugh I'm so dumb. I did a 12 day fast and was OFF coffee... and what do I do? Go right back to it as soon as I start eating again. It's hard, I battle with myself over it. Because I have so few vices due to my health problems (I don't drink, don't smoke, etc) I feel like I deserve this one vice which I love so dearly. Plus since I can't eat out or go out for a drink coffee is literally the ONLY thing I can do socially with someone that involves going out someplace. It's these struggles that keeps me with it... but... it's very bad for my adrenals, which I have problems with. I know I need to give it up. Sorry for the non-helpful ramble, all I can say is I'm having a hard time as well!
make some herbal tea, soon you'll get used to it. Also sunflower lecithin has choline, which will help in concentration.
YOu can probably ask for a drink other than coffee and go to starbucks, like tea. Or anywhere else, and ask for a different drink. If they have fresh juice ask for that. If they have water then I guess water it is lolz...
Yea it can take getting used to.

You are not dumb. Coffee is a real pain in the butt to kick. I have slapped myself in the head a few times for going back. I always feel better when I don't have any at all. But it pulls you in. It's like a drug.

I know everyone talks about the caffeine in coffee being the habit making substance but I do think there must be something else as well. I gave up diet coke and once the headaches were gone I haven't looked back. Is there something else in coffee that makes it so hard to give up?

Whole Foods sells something...don't ask b/c I have no clue- that is supposed to be more like a tea version of coffee. I got a smoothie once and they were giving samples at the counter away. I asked the lady what it was but when she said coffee, I tuned out. But, I know she said they sell it and people either love it or hate it. She happened to hate it, but said customers that give up coffee love it.

I can't have any tea because I could be allergic to the teabags... my severe allergies limit me a lot. A lot of tea bags have stuff I'm allergic to. I can only use one specific type of tea *traditional medicinals* and they usually don't have it at restaurants and what not.
It is definitely a drug, the strongest drug ever. Even cigarettes weren't this hard to get rid of.

You asked what coffe does that is bad for us. One is it robs your body of calcium....leaching it from the bones.
Yerba Mate is a real nice change from coffee. It has compounds similar to the caffeine of coffee but milder like an herbal tea. Find a bulk blend with stevia added in and you'll probably forget about coffee.
Caffeine, sugar and white refined products are all addicting. So if you eliminated all of these at once, I am sure you are suffering. I still drink coffee. I work 7pm and to 7am, I tried stopping, but I think I would have killed off someone's kid in the wee hours. I did manage to eliminate sugarless gum and all diet sodas. I drink coffee when I work, generally not at other times.
Also, I think the sad diet is way more addicting than the general population believes.
Basically, everything in the middle of the store.

Either take your own loose leaf tea or tea in a bag that you aren't allergic to and ask for them to make your tea with that. Tell them they needn't charge you for the boiling water if they don't want to lol
