Does grapefruit juice really help burn body fat! If so I would like to find a way I can enjoy it! It's a little too bitter for me! I like my juice sweet! Does anyone know what kind of fruit I can juice to mix with it, to make it taste better to me? Thanks! Have a fruitful day!

Pineapple!
Personally, I love very tart grapefruit juice.....try buying the red kind. They tend to be sweeter. We had a really sweet red grapefruit tree at my house in Florida. So juicy and sweet....aaaahhhh.
Anyway, try the red kind mixed with some pineapple. That should do it.

You can always add a squirt of stevia or, melt some agave or honey if you wish. Red is sweeter than the yellow I've found also.

Don't go too heavy on the grapefruits though...I learned the hard way. I juiced two or so grapefruits a day mixed with wheatgrass for months.
Too much grapefruit will stop liver enzymes from doing their thing: removing fats, estrogens etc. So, I think it's best to only do grapefruits a couple times a week.

I have a recipe that uses grapefruit juice
i juice one grapefruit, 2 apples, and a small piece of ginger
you could do that and just add a few more apples and some sweetener or something like that :)

I get the operative words here are "for months".... eating/drinking the same thing day after day for months is, imo, never a good thing. Eating grapefruit, or any other fruit for varying periods of time... well, depends on the food. To say "..... it's best to only do grapefruits a couple times a week."... is obviously only one person's opinion...

I think pineapple and kale mixed with grapefruit is devine. Pineapple and kale by itself is yummy too though :)

Revvell,
I do not disagree with you, but my key words were not to do too much grapefruit juice. I probably juiced betw 1 - 2 avg grapefruits a day - maybe 4 - 6 X a week for 2 or 3 mos. With days off here and there, and even a week off if I couldn't get 'em. Yep, I agree this is too much. Not what I'd call "moderation" either.
But if you do a little research, you'll see that even 1/4 of a grapefruit a day increases your estrogen levels so my statement of not doing more than a couple a week is supported by quite a bit of research and is not just "one person's opinion.". I have also read (now that I know about it --a day late and a dollar short---LOL) Whole Foods had a little ditty on not doing more than a couple a week. If you google "cytochrome P450 enzyme grapefruit " you will find many studies supporting this. Most studies are done re drug interactions --how the liver enzymes are compromised and drugs are not absorbed properly when doing grapefruit.
My estrogen levels were a bit high, I developed fibrocystic breasts, and my liver was fatty. All things pointed to an excess of grapefruit juice. I mixed grapefruit juice with wheatgrass in the morning.

Aleesha thanks for putting my threads together! Thanks everyone for all your info and help! I'll make sure not to have grapefruit juice more then twice a week! I understand about that! When I find out a raw fruit or raw plant food can help with fat burning, I go to strong on it! I need to make sure not to do that no matter if it's just a raw fruit!
I'm also trying this to find something to have in the morning to drink, so it's like a juice fast! It helps me digest my foods better! Plus I want to have something to give me alot of energy because I do alot of exercising in the morning! Most of the time just a 16oz cup of juice don't help! I guess I might have to add some agave syrup or raw honey to it, to make it like a sports drink!

You could go the smoothie route using bananas and nut milks to add some oomph to get you through the day.

Thanks MysticTree for your advice! I already have 2 smoothies throughout the day though! I use bananas, almond milk, spinach and spirulina in them! I have the smoothies later in the day because they don't help me detox as good in the morning! So I want something to drink in the morning for high energy before I exercise, but still be in the juice fasting route!

Maybe you need to move your exercise to later in the day . . . maybe do some meditation first thing?

Thanks, I'll think about that! It's just that I do exercise more then once a day! Fitness is my favorite hobby!

How about a couple of oranges. Orange/grapefruit is delish and simple.

eating well is part of good, healthy fitness. If you are eating raw foods and you are fit then detox should be less of an issue and you could have a green smoothie to keep your energy up and still exercise in the morning.

Pineapples can be easy to peel. You'll need a larger knife than a paring one.
Cut off top and bottom
Stand the fruit on its now flat bottom
Take a knife and slice off the outer layer going from top to bottom
Easy peasy! (and so worth it!)
I love a recipe by Rebecca Kane that's on uncooking101 -- she mixes orange, grapefruit, lemon, and lime. MAN is that cleansing!! It's a lovely juice!

Do you peel your citrus? Are you blending - or juicing? When I'm juicing with my citrus juicer, I simply cut the citrus in half and juice...

ditto.
Also, I don't tend to mix citrus with anything other than other citrus but that may just be me!

Watsonreo,
The drug interaction thing was just my way of showing that the enzymes are in fact, affected. Estrogen metabolism as well as fat metabolism are also affected. I do not do any drugs and by doing too many grapefruits I was adversely affected.
But that is interesting to note that when injected, the drugs will bypass the liver ---and not be affected.
Thanks,
Mary Kay
