Hello all,

I am new to this forum. I have been reading for a while, but just today I decided to register. I need some help with juicing.

I have been wanting to start juicing for a while, I even bought a nice fancy juicer, that unfortunately has sat in a cabinet for months. As time goes by and my weight keeps going up and up, mainly due to my poor eating habits, bad dieting, eating binges, etc, etc, I really want to start eating healthier. I plan on beginning a small 3 day juice fast. I plan to start Monday, and I believe I have found some great recipes on this website. I just tried a very simple one consisting of apples, carrots, and ginger. To my surprise it was wonderful.

Anyhow, my questions pertain to the amount of Juice I should drink during my fast and to the balance between fruits and veggies.

1) How much Juice do I drink during a fast if my purpose for fasting is to lose weight?

2) What would be the proper balance between fruits and vegetables? Does it even matter?

As i previously stated, I want to fast to lose weight. I am thankful not to have any health problems besides being overweight but I am sure if I keep gaining weight sooner or later other health problems will come along.

Thank You all for your help.

well, if your main purpose is to lose weight, i'd say to just be watchful of the calories. When you juice fruit, you get all the calories with none of the fiber. And those calories can add up fast when you consider how many fruits you need to juice to get enough juice to drink & feel satisfied. So, for weight loss, obviously veggie juice would be a lot better. Aside from that, I would say just drink whatever quantity and combination helps you to feel satisfied.. Good luck!

I actually haven't found a correlation between weight release while fasting and what juices I consumed.

There are some great threads here in the fasting section - I suggest you read them (especially the monthly fasting ones) as there's tons of info in them!

Welcome!!!

A 3 day juice fast is a fantastic regeneration window for your body, especially if you want to lose weight. I would recommend making 3 big juices each day (morning, lunch & dinner) using whatever fruits & vegetables that suit your taste. Be sure to drink plenty of fresh, pure water in between juice drinks. In terms of amounts, it's great to start your morning juice with a much higher percentage of juice from fruits, lunch juice make 50:50, and then for dinner you want more focus on the greens - The way I look at it: Morning, your body needs energizing juices to flush toxins/stimulate the cells, and by the evening your body needs more of the greens for tissue/cell regeneration as well as calmness - On that note, meditation is extremely beneficial during fasts too! Hope this helps, and enjoy the fast! :)
