I'm new to eating raw and I don't have alot of questions, it seems pretty easy. However the one question I do have is about calories. I know on an SAD diet many count calories and I could never eat right being SAD because there is no way I can eat 1200 calories. So my question is when trying to lose weight eating raw do I need to have at least 1200 calories? I'm not a big eater I was just eating the wrong things which caused me to be overweight. As of now I am eating a piece of fruit about every 2 hours or a couple veggies. Will I lose weight this way or do I need to eat more even if I'm not hungry? Also I am reading Alissa's book but haven't come across this yet if it is discussed..
Thanks

The good news about raw food is that you don't need to worry about this. Focus on your health and the weight will shred as a side effect.
You need to eat as much as you are hungry to provide quality of nutrient to your body.
Some people could have to wait a little before seeing their weight to melt down but this is only because the body is focusing to repair anything inside that is far more crucial for vitality.
Most people, will shred weight quickly. You can also buy a dvd from Dan Mcdonald. He created a dvd about losing one pound per day. He promotes juicing, fruits, vegetables, leafy greens and herbs.
My first year of going raw, i went banana with nuts, gourmet food and just eat and eat. I followed Allisa's phylosophy. I lost so much weight that i went underweight, now i am back to normal. Many has fear about fat but i feel that we need the good fat in order to lose the bad one. Everyone is different of course but they made an experiment with cows. They were trying to give them coconut oil to fat them up and it turned out that they lost weight instead.
My say to you is to focus on your health, you accomplishment never the negative and to relax. Visualize yourself having the perfect body, and filled this vision with love and gratitude. You can use a picture to help.
You are truly on the right path, raw food is really key beside having a good attitude.
Wishing you all the best!

Please make sure you eat at least 1200 calories, though. You're body can't function at 100% on less than this. And keep in mind that 1200 calories with raw is SO much different than 1200 calories of the standard american diet.

She will by following her hunger. Alissa Cohen doesn't count calorie. You truly don't need to worry about this.
We have been so programmed that we need such and such, or eat so much of that or meet so much calorie that we don't even know how to tune in to our body's need. The beauty about raw food also, is that we will get there and figure out what works for us.
What she needs isn't calorie but nutrients (fruits, vegetables, herbs, leafy greens). You can watch a free course on line by Brendan Brazier RawIn30. He explains the difference between calorie and energy etc.. you need the energy and energy isn't proportional to calorie. If calorie alone would contribute to energy, then why after engorging a heavy meal on a SAD food that people feel tired and drained out? What he says, it makes perfect sense.
Anyway, just sharing. I am not an expert of course neither a doctor. I go with what feels right or my intuition or what resonate.
All the best.
