I recently received the Raw Food for Everyone book, and I really like the recipes. However, I just don't see a chapter that tells one how to start, specific details on what I eat for breakfast (a recommended morning juice mixture, also can I have coffee?), lunch, and dinner. Maybe I am looking for a sample meal plans to detox in the beginning/starting stages. So new, I guess I need specifics.

I would recommend getting a copy of Alissa's first book - see link at top left under the lettuce. The book is huge and does a lot of hand-holding and gives sample menus and meal planners.

But it's really not difficult once you have an idea of what raw vegan is.

Coffee is on my no list which is really easy for me because I never drank it to start with but I did drink diet coke to excess and I gave that up totally.

I usually eat fruit for breakfast or have a juice. There is no reason why you can't eat salad for breakfast though. If you have a dehydrator or can buy pre-made raw breads then you can have those or maybe you can make some gRAWnola.

Again Alissa's book has recipes, this forum has recipes and the internet as a whole has recipes :)

You can have whatever you want for breakfast. A big green smoothie is what many raw vegans have for breakfast. I usually have a smoothie or a juice that I make with my juicer.

Yea, there are no laws and no raw police so do what feels good and when it doesn't feel good enough anymore, change it up. In other words, it may feel bad to you to quit coffee for now and good to continue with the coffee. In the mean time, every little bit of raw food that you are adding into your life is good for your body. In time, it may (hopefully WILL) make you want to see how you'll feel without coffee and you'll know when the time is right.

It's not easy to do in the beginning, but LISTEN TO AND TRUST YOUR BODY. It doesn't have to be a crazy science, it doesn't have to be regimented or measured. You don't have to have some certifying institution come into tell you exactly how to do it. You just eat, mostly raw. And you feel better and you eat more raw. And you keep reading here and on other raw sites and in raw books.

As for breakfast, you can eat a salad if you want to. Whatever feels good. Search the site because this seems to be common for people who are new to the concept - the issue of breakfast. I have smoothies, sometimes Ani Phyo's buckwheat crispies, sometimes raw biscuits and jam, sometimes raw food bars, sometimes homemade energy bars, sometimes fruit salad and sometimes I do actually have salad for breakfast.

Just breathe, ask your body, listen to it. It's always all good. :-)

I have the same question - so far it does not appear as anyone has answered it.

I've also read your post on the old July Challenge thread ...

You have a copy of Living on Live Food. There are shopping lists, meal plans and recipes in there plus lots of stories from people explaining how they went raw. All you need to do is read the book and eat raw food!

I'm sure the books are good but you don't really need any books. If you have a blender, just throw everything you want in and make a big smoothie. My favorite smoothies have a green, lots of fruit and some sort of fat. Right now I'm having a spinach, orange, pineapple, date, and flax smoothie. I also love avocados in smoothie in the morning. :)
