View Full Version : prednisone making me soooooo hungry!

so, i am on the last two days of a course of prednisone to clear up a terrible allergic reaction i had during surgery on my feet recently. All has been going well with the prednisone thus far, except that I am crazy hungry! I want to eat everything in sight. It's kind of a bummer because I have been doing super well at eating more simply for the last couple of months, so I hate to get back in the habit of eating larger amounts of more processed/rich foods, even if they are still raw. But let me tell you, my hunger drive is off the hook...so odd! So I guess for now I will just go with it and eat more. Have any of you run into this problem? How did you handle it? Or even if you have not had this problem, can you give me ideas for your favorite, most fulfilling, soul satisfying raw food recipes?

Honestly, lately when I am hungry in the AM I have been drinking coconut water and then a little later on, the meat. Maybe it is a mental thing, but I am not hungry for hours. I have also been doing pineapple, coconut, lime, and ice to make a shake. Really good.... It's probably because the liquid fills me up. Plus it is so hot here that I mix that with glasses of ice water and it's pretty filling for a while.

tomatoes or watermelon always help a lot for me. I think the water content fills me up but then I am not taking medication which may mean you just have to go with the flow until you can stop taking them.
Soaked almonds also useful if I feel I need something heavier - I set 15 almond to soak in a small dish and that is my treat later in the day if I want them. I've never kept a pack of almonds going for as long as I have since going raw. I get organic ones and they sprout so I figure they are raw!
