I was looking at picking up some Raw Food Bars to have on hand if I need something to just throw in my purse and go, and something to keep at my desk in case I need a snack or forget to bring my lunch with me. Are there any that you guys really like, and would recommend? :eat

Hi,

I think Lara Bars are raw. You might call the company and ask to make sure.:eat

Don't know where you're based but if you can get your hands on some Nakd "nudie" Bars I HIGHLY recommend them - they're like crack!! So so good. Although I've looked on their website and found that some of the bars that have oats and/or cocoa aren't completely raw so I avoid those flavours, the others are still great though. Have a look at the website (http://www.naturalbalancefoods.co.uk/store/nakd-nudie-bars/default.aspx) and see if you can find a store that stocks them near you? I might order some online in bulk because I'm spending a fortune on them individually from my local health food store

are they actually raw or are they one of the ones that just pretend to be?

larabars are really raw - its just raw cashews and dates. That being said, I prefer to make my own because I am CHEAP! And larabars are like $2 a pop. Ouch

Isn't $2 cheap? I thought it was and I thought I was cheap!

I'm all for saving money, too! How do you make your own? I think I read in a search that you combine equal amounts of dates and nuts. Is that how you make yours?

If you have Brendan Brazier's book, "Thrive" he has some great recipes for raw food bars that you can make ahead and store. :eat

I just started making my own, sooooo good and I know they're raw! :)
I use equal amounts of:
prunes or raisins
nuts
fruit
And a bit of water to get it mixing, first I put the prunes in my vita mix then the nuts for half a min or so then I mix in the fruit by myself shape em into bars and dehydrate :)

I highly recommend checking this (http://8972523.versativa.org/images/1/PulseBrochure.pdf) out. It comes in bar form, absolutely delicious! I have some currently and also distribute them. 26 raw organic foods packed into one bar, ya can't beat it.

Larabars aren't raw i looked on their website the cashews are steamed, the peanuts are roasted, along with the cacao as far as the other nuts since they didn't mention them i'm assuming they are raw

From their website http://www.larabar.com/about/special-diets

"RAW DIET LÄRABAR products are made by a simple process in which fruit, nuts, and spices are ground and mixed together. They are not baked or cooked. We use simple ingredients, as close to their natural state as possible. Practitioners of the Raw Diet should be aware that:

Roasted peanuts are used in LÄRABAR's Peanut Butter & Jelly, Peanut Butter Cookie, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip flavor varieties;

Steamed cashews are used in our Cinnamon Roll, Cashew Cookies, Tropical Fruit Tart, Lemon Bar, Key Lime Pie ad Coconut Cream Pie varieties; and

Roasted cocoa powder is used in Chocolate Chip Brownie and Chocolate Coconut Chew flavor varieties, and in all of our JŎCALAT flavors."

A few of my favs are on the list which sucks but it depends on how strict you're trying to be and i'm sure they can easily be duplicated at home with 100% raw ingredients:heart

I found one bar to try: Organic Raw Food Bar Chocolate Coconut. It was SOOOO good, yet so expensive. I think I'll start looking for some homemade recipes that I can make myself!

On the Brendan Brazier recipes, do they have to be dehydrated or are they relatively simple?

Here is a great website for organic raw sprouted bars. Reasonably priced. They also have crackers called rawkers that I just ordered. The ingredients look
wonderful. Here is the website. I would take a look at the website they have high quality organic sprouted raw stuff all over the website. Here is the website:

You can get them here: http://www.shoporganic.com/prod_detail_list/lydias-organics

I love the spirulina and the tropical bars and I'm totally addicted to the mega green kale chips.

I have only tried the Raw Revolution bars, but I love them, they're delicious. Not all of them are 100% raw, but they tell you what the percentage is so you know exactly what you're getting. I've seen them at two different health food stores, including Whole Foods, and they're also available on Amazon. http://http://rawrev.com/

Thank you! Several people have recommended the Raw Revolution bars, and since I know I can actually find them at Whole Foods, I'll give them a try. Much too warm to try shopping online. :-(

There are some great recommendations on this thread! You might also consider Superfood Snacks. They are a raw chocolate superfood nuggets. They are a bit pricey, but pack a powerful punch! Try the Chocolate Goji Treats, or the Green Chocolate Dream. Also, I love the Go Raw Flax Snax. Pizza flavor is my favorite. :)

Sounds yummy! I'll have to take a look once the temp goes down, so my yummy chocolate doesn't melt!
