Hey everyone. I have completed one 10 day Vipassana course that really helped me in terms of releasing negative emotional energy. It was so beneficial to me and I felt like when i came out of the retreat it was the first time in my life i was fully living in the moment.

Unfortunately living at home I fell out of practice of sitting daily to meditate. I was thinking of going back for an extended sit and serve retreat where you sit ten days, and serve others for ten days, and do that for 2 or 3 months.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this extended retreat or been doing Vipassana for a while? Any input is welcome. :meditating:

Ahh that sounds divine, if you can manage a long-term get away like that. I have just finished my first ten day sit and it was one of the best things I have ever done. But as Goenka says, the true test of Vipassana is maintaining daily practice after the course ;) Maybe complete immersion for a few months will help you do that?

My friend Brandon actually lives at Vipassana courses, he's been doing it for about a year or so. He just travels from site to site and serves for long-term periods of time.

He seems like a pretty centered dude and had a great vibe about him.

It's my focus to attend my first retreat during the next year. I've wanted to for years and now I'm finally in a situation where I can.

Soooo blissing at the thought of this. :throwhearts:

I'm curious about this, I'm going to look into stuff like this around me (in New Jersey). However, I've heard there are two different kinds, one that is all sitting & one that balances sitting & walking meditations, I definitely don't think I could handle the former.

Feel free to share more about your experience (pros, cons, pitfalls, pinnacles, etc.).
