Hi, I did a Google search to find this forum. I started a Vegan lifestyle a little more than a month ago for an adventure. That's right, Just for the fun of it. I have found challenging myself to different ways of thinking and eating to be good way to try new recipes that I ordinarily wouldn't be exposed to. I noticed that if I just decide to try the food without the "lifestyle" I quickly get board and eat whatever is available.
I was a vegetarian for several years and enjoyed it. Since choosing the Vegan diet I have noticed a marked improvement in my emotional health. I originally only made a 1 month commitment. At the end of the month, I had a day where I ate cheese. While I liked it, I can't say I was ready to go non-Vegan LOL. So I'm going a little farther with it.
I decided to go Raw and another challenge. My full blow start date is August 1st but I'm slowly adding raw foods to my diet to build up to that date. I've read the number one complaint is bloating. I use to have a horrible time with bloat. I have a tight esophagus opening which makes it difficult for me to burp. I actually have had less trouble this past month than any other time in my life. My guess is it's the fact that by gut flora is better balanced. While I might have more flatulence than before, it isn't painful and my three dogs have decided it's not worth running out of the bed for :)
I'm a single Mom of one recently graduated teen-ager. I guess I'll suffer empty nest syndrome eventually.
I work at a local chain grocery that is so poorly stocked, I have to drive an hour one-way to buy most of what I need. We do have a local Farmer's Market which helps some.
I love to camp, hike, I do resistance training, read as much as possible &
I'm a sci-fi nerd
