Ok, so I want to juice feast. I am BFing my 6 month old son and do not plan to wean him soon. I would like to juice feast before I quit BFing (I think we are probably looking at at least another year), so my question is, how long would my body take to do the major detoxing during a juice feast?
When would it be safe to resume BFing?
I plan to store enough milk to get us through the major detox while I pump and dump and then resume BFing once its safe.
Thanks in advance!

Hi! I am nursing a 10 month old right now too. I honestly don't believe the detox hype that we release toxins during a juice feast - I have read countless journal articles stating quite the opposite actually. If you don't believe me do a pub med search about it. I would be more concerned about getting all the nutrition you need for a prolonged juice feast - If I were you I would just try three days. That should be long enough to give your digestive system a break. But as far as "releasing toxins in the breastmilk" I would not be concerned. Even if by some chance all the studies I have read were wrong the amount of anything in your milk, including medications, is most likely not going to be in a concentration high enough to harm your baby. Think about it - many women take medication for diabetes, depression, etc. during pregnancy and nursing with no problem, so I don't think juicing for a few days is going to harm your baby.
