Was reading something where someone doing 30 days raw said they had cravings for okra...and had raw sliced okra several days in a row.....

hmf, thought I, let me try this.

I was worried - but overall, pretty ok, great crunch and chew....had mine with a little guac.

Any of you eat okra? how? with what?

the key here in the UK is finding it it a state worth bothering with. In Bristol it is difficult to find it young, tender and crisp. Old, tough and rubbery is more the order of the day. I'd love to find some good okra though.

I made "fried" okra. I googled and found some videos. I posted about it on my blog too. It was really good. I had it with a massaged kale salad & corn on the cob. :)

I used to happily eat Okra raw, as-is. However, it can be high in pesticides (DDT is still used widely in India, where much okra is grown).

I stopped eating it because I'm intolerant of the mucous-like gel around the seeds.

Okra's very nutritious, though!

I suppose it might be edible in dehydrated form, if you feel like trying that, although I'm not a fan of dehydrated foods in general as the body then has to rehydrate them, which is less than ideal, for a number of reasons.
