Hi all,
Really glad I found this site, the info has been really helpful.
I have been Raw for about 3 weeks now, first week being about only 50% raw but now I am approx 95% raw. I am loving this way of eating, it seems right for me.
I am approx 3 stones overweight so my reasons for starting was health and then weight loss, after dieting for about 15 years losing weight and re-gaining following every diet you can mention I eventually decided I needed to sort myself out.
Since starting I have not yet lost any weight - is this normal?
I have a green smoothie for breakfast, raw soup for lunch, something like sea spaghetti and sauce for dinner, I snack on say a handful of nuts, however I do use nuts in my food such as sunflower seeds and walnuts for the pasta sauce. I occassionally make raw brownies, so I feel I am eating well and quite alot, I am not going hungry at all, so worried I may be eating too much.
I also still have 2 coffees a day with homemade almond milk - how bad is coffee? I have cut down drastically but am yet to give it up completly.
I also would like to ask is it necessary to soak all nuts before eating and if so does that include seeds like sunflower or dates etc?
Many Thanks
Kaci

If drinking a couple of cups of coffee keeps you on track, don't give them up until you are ready. Regarding the nuts, you don't have too. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Even if you never soak a nut it is still better than eating the roasted ones.

That sounds like a lot. Do you find that the recipies are easy to make, and tastey.

I have lost a pound a day so far, this is week one. I drink water only, and just eat fruit and veggies as finger food.

Your recipies sound great

eat a lot more sweet fruit ... and less nuts!
....how much exercise are you doing?

Are you having any trouble digesting the food your eating! The reason I ask this is because I have trouble digesting raw nuts and seeds! The way I made it easier for me is to juice fast in the morning until noon! The rest of the day I eat what ever I want or need raw! Then I have no trouble digesting the nuts and seeds. Plus this could help you detox all the other S.A.D foods you might be having trouble detoxing! I've never been able to do a 3 day fast, but I've always been able to do a morning fast!

I lost 6 pounds my first week raw, then just 1 pound the second week. The difference? MY NUT and SEED intake. The reality is that the most crucial element of weight loss is intake. Nuts can do you in if you aren't careful. Try cutting your nut and seed intake by half for a week and weight in at the end of the week. If you loose more, then you can be certain your intake of nuts is not creating enough of a calorie deficit for you. Good Luck!
