For those that haven't tried to make almond milk yet, you should! Really delicious stuff and easy to make. Just soak a cup of raw almonds over night in a glass bowl. Add 3 cups of water, agave nectar and blend it up. Pour milk over cheese cloth and ring it out over a strainer to make the milk nice and smooth. I've made hemp milk too but personally enjoy the taste of almond milk better.
Our favorite is Brazil nut milk - have you tried that yet? It's so creamy! I like to add a wee pinch of salt and a splash of vanilla extract & a little sweetener to mine. *Ü*
Back to add - I usually use a medjool date for the sweetener. Yum!

I did pretty much the same but I used 5 cups of water and a spoon of honey. I added a pinch of salt, but I do that with almost everything when flavors are combining. Gotta try it with different types of nuts.

I dig the brazil nuts. I'm going to try making milk out of those in the near future.

I use 1/2 cup almonds with 5 cups water (saw this with Ani Phyo and love it because I'm cheap), with 2 tbsp agave (about the only thing I use agave in because the coconut nectar just seems too thick to me).

Has anyone tried using almond butter? There was a recipe I made thinking it was gonna be a smoothie but it was almond milk and it was delicious and super easy definitely great for those on a budget and can't afford lots of nuts!

Has anyone tried using almond butter?
Yes. At about $16 per jar of really raw almond butter, I'd rather use the nuts.

Really? My raw almond butter cost 10$ for 12oz at my local co op I only use 1/4 cup and the milk last 4-5 days and I'm not making it all the time so it actually works out much better than buying a pound of nuts for 16$ for me.

Instead of cheese cloth to strain your mylk, I've been using paint straining bags. After blending, pour your mylk into the container you are going to store it in, then put the paint straining bag in the blender, pour your mylk back into the blender and strain, then pour your finished mylk into your container your going to store it in again. I have found this to be the easiest and quickest way to clean up and not get alot of dishes dirty. BTW, you can get the paint straining bags at almost any hardware store that sells paint and they are CHEAP!!!
I also use the recipe of 1/2 Cup almonds to 5 cups water and some dates to sweeten. It tastes great and 5 cups of water stretches you almonds, besides I usually only use it in smoothies.

I cut the toe off an unused nylon tight and use that to strain my almond milk ;P

I've been using 4 cups of water for 1 cup of almonds, and 3 dates. I'm going to try using 1/2 cup of nuts next time. ;)
