So, I went and did my shopping and am quite pleased. I ended up with some watermelon, loads of green things/vegetables, oranges, peaches, berries, but I am especially happy to have gotten jackfruit, lychee (none of them were even bitter), enough coconuts for the next 2 weeks, chermoya, and my baby bananas that have been out of stock for a while (?). I also have figs I had gotten a few days back.

I soaked my almonds in water overnight and to my shock made some really good almond milk. I know how it is made but this is the first time i have had a blender (Ninja) worth trying to make it and I really liked the taste and of course, the cost. I put in some honey this time, so I am going to try it with dates and see if there is a difference.

I want to make kim chi but I don't have canning things. I am going to research if I can just seal the top and make it that way.

I have to research lychee season, but if it is only a small window, I am definitely getting more while I can. I have always loved them, but usually had them in a can or frozen. I also found frozen passion fruit, so I might pick some up.

I LOVE SUMMER FRUIT SEASON!!!!!!!!!! :throwhearts:

I make a sort of kimchee and I just have some in the fridge covered with a plate. I don't make vast quantities at a time though so I don't have to think about the long term.

I love, love, love jackfruit. I like lychees but only seem to want 2 or 3 at a time as they seem very sweet to me.

The lychees at our store are on sale at the moment, not sure if it's because it's the end of the season or not though. I haven't really researched it.

Our asian store has stopped carrying young coconuts because they said the cost has gone up too high. :( Have you guys found similar?

Shopping raw for me is harder because I seem to nibble all day so I never know exactly what I want. I tend to shop every couple of days for most things. I think I would save money shopping for a longer period of time, but I am concerned that things will die before I eat them because I never know what I want to eat.

Oh lord. If I don't go to the store everyday, they think something is wrong.

Ditto. I waste too much if I buy long term. I waste stuff now as it is. Between buying ice and fruit, I am at the store 4 ro 5 times a week.

Whole Foods has the coconuts for 3.99 and I found them at the Asian market for 2.49, so I got half a dozen while I found them at that price. I figured one every day or so and 12 bucks wasn't sooo bad.
