I was just wondering if anyone knows why a person would get migraines when it's hot. I used to be miserable in the heat but fine, but now I get terrible migraines that last for days when it's above 85. (Btw-I'm in the process of transitioning to raw so I'm not 100% yet.)

Stay hydrated.

plenty of water should do the trick - and drink it before your body starts crying for it.

Thank you for replying. When it gets hot, I drink a little over a gallon of water a day. I still get dehydration symptoms though. (I may be drinking it after dehydration has already started. I don't know.) I was wondering if it's a mineral imbalance or if something is malfunctioning. Perhaps even more water is needed though along with lemon/lime or something for electrolytes.

are you staying out of the sun as best you can and when you are in the sun are you wearing shades? Sometimes it's just the brightness of the sun that give bad headaches.

I also easier suffers from migraine when it's hot. Drinking water is important. Also smart staying mostly in the shaddow. But I have to say, bloodsugar is the most essential for me. What about you? Many people lose their appetite in hot weather. Or they only eat fruit/juice/ice-cream and other sugary stuff, whithout fat and protein, which help balancing the bloodsugar.
Lately I have been reading that Magnesium can help people with migraine. Maybe one looses a lot magnesium when sweating? I have bought it now, and will try it.

I think it's all of those things. Today I started out with no headache but when I looked out a window I felt a slight headache starting. I think the sun is so bright these past few days that I even need sunglasses for looking out the windows. Also, I have have been eating much less due to the heat so the blood sugar reason makes sense too. I'm already looking forward to fall as I do every summer.

I make sure that I always have cold watermellon in the fridge when it's hot. I WANT to eat that, and its is very hydrating.

Forgive me if I'm way off the mark here but intuition is telling me there's more to this than you're describing. I can't help thinking there's a much larger framework within which these migraines are but one symptom. Perhaps you've even been drawn towards eating raw precisely because you have several niggling health issues you wish to resolve naturally?
Do you have other health symptoms (although you may not consider them even remotely connected) ?

You are probably diluting the electolytes (K, Na, Mg) in your body with too much water. Try juicing a bit more which will give your body the natural bio water it needs. Maybe add a daily banana as well which has lots of K and Mg.

How do you distinguish a migraine from a headache? Some days I have a really bad headache/migraine.It's this throbbing pain, like I can feel my pulse.I know it might sound weird. It's quite irritating.I had one pill-Ibuprom,would it help?

I can tell you that with the migraines I experience, the pain is so bad I will actually vomit. Many people see halos around lights and they are light sensitive.
For me - an Ibuprofen wouldn't touch the pain. I have to take narcotics to deal with the pain as I cannot take things like Imitrex as I've had heart problems in the past. Imitrex and those in the same family will end a migraine in 20-40 minutes usually.

I read something interesting about coffee drinkers and headaches. It said that some migraine sufferers were actually coffee drinkers at work but not on the weekends and they suffered migraines every weekend from the coffee detox because they didn't drink coffee at home!
