Hi,

I was hoping that someone would be willing to share some easy--and i mean easy....raw soup recipes to have at night. I am NOT a fan of tomatos just FYI. Thanks--I am hoping this will ease my digestion at nighttime and give me a little comfort food:)

This is a recipe someone posted here I think just last week.
YellowYum Soup
1/2 cup pine nuts
1 butternut squash
1/2 avocado
1/2 persimmon
a date or two
pure water
Soak the pine nuts at least overnight. A day is better. Rinse thoroughly in pure water. Skin and deseed the squash. Ditto the avocado. De-pit the dates. Place it all in the blender. Add pure water until you get the right consistency. This is a rich and sweet, but not too sweet. Add celtic sea salt adn black pepper to taste. you can also add a little cayenne to make it hot if you want.

I just copied this the way it was written. I have not tried it yet. Sounds good. Just wondering, if anyone reads this who knows, Do you need to soak the squash first? I've heard squash can be bitter?? I have no idea....

I had this soup for breakfast...

chunk of crook neck squash
chunk of green squash
1 scallion
1 clove garlic
hand full of mini carrots
chunk of cabbage
half rib of celery
two shakes of mexican seasoning
two shakes of seasoned salt
one cup of hot water
blend in vitamix

sometimes I add a roma tomotoe, slice of beet, date, or whatever else I feel like. You get the idea...just about anything goes.

These sound so delicious, it's making me hungry. I just had a comment on the pinenuts. Rawpriestess has said not to soak them at all. They aren't the kind that needs soaking, but if you must soak it, only do it for 15 minutes. The flavor is all soaked out if you do. She took a course somewhere and they talked about which nuts and seeds to soak and which ones not to soak and which ones to barely soak.

I like to use avocado as the fat in soup, instead of nuts - it blends up much smoother and lighter.

Check out www.learnrawfood.com - I think one of the previous newsletters has a recipe for cream of zucchinni soup.

Here is my favorite cream of spinach soup:

Lotsa Spinach!!!!
1/2 avocado
lemon juice
sea salt
cayenne pepper
onion powder
dash of honey
water as necessasry to blend to desired consistency.

YUM!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I am posting one soup recipe that I love as an afternoon snack or even for breakfast.
I have a little book of raw soups I got from the Raw Gourmet and I can't locate it at the moment  I will search for it in the morning and post more. But this one is really good and really simple !

1 cup of alfalfa sprouts
4-6 dates ( the recipe calls for 6 but I use 4)
2 cups of fresh pineapple
1-2 tablespoons of fresh mint
3 large leaves of kale, cut off the stems ( I use 4-5)

The recipe suggests blending this but I did it in my food processor. I chopped the Kale up a bit before putting it in , either way it is really really good !

Enjoy !

Glad to see ya around! I was wondering if you still came here. You may be on all the time and I just don't see your posts. I just wanted to let you know you are an inspiration to me because I saw how long you have been raw. That's awesome!
That was awhile back so I hope you have got this down and were able to continue. I wanted to ask you, do you ever let yourself have a cooked favorite meal as a treat, like once a year or twice a year, or once for every season of the year max? I was thinking I may need to do that, just let myself have one or two good meals, then the day after that have a raw delicious pizza or some other really good tasting raw meal.
I'm sorry to change the subject here. Now back to raw soups! I hope what I just talked about isn't considered taboo, I don't want to cause anyone to stumble!

That soup recipe sounds so good! And yours does to Bethany. I like the idea of avocado instead of nuts. Although avacados can be disappointing at times. I'm going to have to try all these soup recipes! Thanks for starting this thread JMD. Sorry I don't know any good soup recipes other then a gazpaucho type thing that I make.

cherry tomatos
cucumber
red or yellow or orange pepper
onion
garlic
tahinni
lemon
sea salt if you want it

Hi Beauty4ashes, I agree with the avacado thing. I have stopped using them for a few weeks after a really bad one

Let me know if you try the soup !
