I've been on here sharing my healing story how I became diabetic free on raw food for the first three years. Nothing have changed in my 100% raw food diet, except that I upped my exercise routine on P90X and drinking smoothies afterward. Still ate all the same raw food like always. I was going to get my blood works done and I really haven't been really keeping track of my glucose reading at the beginning for my fourth year of being raw since I've gone raw since Spring 2008. So right before I was going to get my blood works done, I took my fasting glucose reading and to my shock it was in the three hundred range where normally I'm used to seeing 70-110. So I canceled my appointment and would like to get my blood works done when my glucose level is normal again.

So I'm here seeking if there is any holistic approach to help me get back to where I was with my readings.

Or maybe gear more toward eating certain raw food till everything get normalized again.

I am very open to fasting (and love it), but don't do it because it cause my eyes to get very blurry, then I can't read or see.

I know that each raw food contains their own unique package of vitamins and minerals to heal.

Any ideas or sharing knowledge of what might help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the willpower to be well again like I did the first time around! So therefore I refuse to be unwell!!

Hi whoa-raw ~ I have a book from the library right now that I'll copy the info. This is from Dr. Norman Walker's book, "Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices - What's Missing in Your Body" - page 97. This is the 'formula' of juice he recommends for diabetes: I'll post incase it may be of benefit to you. Best wishes!

carrot 10 oz
spinach 6 oz

carrot 11 oz
dandelion 3 oz
turnip 2 oz

carrot 8 oz
lettuce 5 oz
spinach 3 oz

carrot 9 oz
dandelion 3 oz
spinach 3 oz

carrot 16 oz

What are you doing differently than you were doing then? What's changed since then?

Have you kept a food/workout diary?

Thanks Deb!! I did drink alot of carrot juice in the beginning and ate alot of spinach salad in my first year. I will get back on the ball again with the carrot juice and having the daily spinach salad like I used to.

Revvell, I will start keeping a food/workout diary now since this happened. It's not very easy to back track everything I did from now to the beginning. And it really is a bummer that I didn't keep track.

The only thing I can think of that was different was that I started eating alot of dates within the third year. I stopped eating it about two-three months ago, because it was all I ever kept eating. Seems that my portions got bigger when I started P90X. Since I've stopped eating dates, no improvements. I was using the Earthing mat too as well. Stopped using it, because I don't know if it causes some changes within my body. I tried Raw Protein for about two weeks when I was doing P90X. That's all I can think of. And my water usage is different. I used to buy cases of bottled water for the first two years, then started to get Reverse Omosis refill for my 3 gallon bottles and set it upon my water stand.

A lady told me that acupuncture helps greatly with diabetes. and that it'll help balance the body out. I'm skeptical of acupuncture, but I am open if it does truly help. Anybody who has experiences with acupuncture? If so, please kindly share. It'll be greatly appreciated.

there's been quite a lot lately about fats and their role in diabetes.

Even one of our broadsheets was pleased to discuss it ... It was in The Telegraph. I'll check out a link for you.

it's not a specifically raw or necessarily vegan plan but I believe it may be adaptable. You'd get the premise any way.

MysticTree, it makes sense though. Because earlier this morning after skimming through posts in the archive here. One of the post had the same point of the fat factor may be causing insulin resistance.

I'll give it a try for a couple of weeks to see if it helps.

Thanks!

And just to add on here which is something I've been keeping to myself this whole time till it heals. But because I'm having a problem with diabetes again, I have a problem with a low thyriod/not on any medications for it. And yes that is all the health issues I know of to share.

Thought I share that part since maybe it's causing my blood sugar level to be unstable?

I used acupuncture for asthma. Helped tremendously.

I'll just toss this in. I'm also hypo-thyroid (after having my thyroid killed -twice- due to being hyper). I'm on 2 different compounded meds plus synthroid, which sit better with me than being on all synthroid. Just so you know there are options to synthroid/levoxyl. *Ü*

Revvell, I want to try acupuncture, the only thing is that I want to make sure the needles they use are sterile. How will I know for sure even if they say so?

Deb, I have the book, lucky huh? And it got me to thinking that I need to be drinking green juices.

I've made an appointment today with the kind of doctor who works with patients to get off insulin and address the root of the thyroid problem instead of just treating it with medication which is what I'm looking for. So I'm hoping I finally found the doctor I'm looking for. I've been opposed to taking medications for my thyroid condition. I found out about my thyroid condition the same time I found out about my diabetes.

And I also made another appointment today with a very very very awesome herbalist to help me address these issues as well. She's into raw food in a very big way!

But in the mean time, I'm putting on my thinking cap of which raw food will be the safest and the most beneficial for me to eat. So I'm gonna pull out my low glycemic book.

Any other holistic approach is welcome with open arms!! So please do share anything that might be helpful.

You know what? I don't remember. It was a looong time ago. I'm wondering if they take them out of sterile packages as tattoo artists do.

Best thing, ask around, see if you know anyone who has gone to one and ask how they do it. I have no memory of that part. Just how I felt after a session.

Yeah, I'm gonna do my research before I try it. :hug

I talked to a really nice lady about a month ago who is a big believer in acupunture.

So if I do it and if it helps big time. I'll post it on this thread in the future.

Wow! How wonderful that you have these types of practioners nearby to help you out on your journey! And good for you being so pro-active, color me impressed! I hope you'll keep us posted? I'd love to hear how it goes with both of your appointments.

(And definitely - if there's a way to treat your thryoid without prescription(s), that's wonderful :) Unfortunately for me, there's no other option since my thyroid was zapped. Although it does still have a small amount of function - poor little gland! Sigh - if only I'd known then what I know now, eh? I'd be very interested to know how your herbalist appt. goes. If there's a way for me to cut down on my thyroid meds, I'd sure love to look into it ~ ~

I've done acupuncture with some success. The needles are prepackaged individually so when the practitioner get ready to insert them, they should be unwrapping them as they go. Acupuncture has positive effects beyond condition specific issues. It opens up blockages in your meridians among other benefits,

I hope you find your solutions.

Deb, I'm sorry to hear about your thyroid. I'm thinking maybe over time, it'll find a way to regenerate itself from raw food or herbs? Will have to do some research on that if that could be possible? The body has many great ways of regenerating itself.
Finding a good doctor part was the hardest part for me.... I searched high and low for the past three years....nada.... till my mom found this doctor so I'm keeping my fingers cross. Her goal is to see health improvements, not the other way around. So that's a good start.
The herbalist iI'll be seeing s pretty well known, so I know I'll be in good hands with her.
I am thankful that there is help when I need it. I sure will let you know how it goes. Even the herbs for the thyroid. I won't be seeing them till the second week of July so it's gonna take a while.

For now, I'm gonna lay off on the avocados, nuts, seeds, sea salt, and oils, And just do fruits/veggies/green juices. I looked at my glycemic book and really all the raw food is pretty much low or medium including nuts and seeds. Never did eat grain this whole time or soak/sprout my seeds/nuts.

Keep a food/workout journal, even if I'm doing great!

LaughAlway, Thanks!! That makes me better that it's in package ready to go as they go.

That was the same thing the lady was saying too. It gets everything flowing again back to normal.

I hope that I find the solutions I'm looking for too.
