Hey Guys,

I wanted to know if anyone has had any great experiences with the raw food diet curing major skin disorders such as Psorasis, Eczema, Prurigo Nodularis (Nodular Prurigo), Rosacea etc.

I would love to hear about it.

Thanks!

I had tinea veriscolor for over 20 years- just couldn't get rid of it. Since being raw for the past 2 years, no ugly red patches all over my neck and chest. (In case anyone is dealing with the same issue, you can leave a personal message for me and I'll tell you some of the other things I did to get rid of it.) Keeping it gone, I attribute to raw food. Also, I had a mole looking thing on my leg since I was about ten years old, replete with a hair growing out of it and everything. Noticed a few weeks ago that it is gone. I have a bump on my face that just showed up one day, several years ago, not huge or that noticeable, but a bump nonetheless. It isn't gone, but is decreasing in size. Another skin thing I've notices is the tight skin I have around my jaw and on the sides of my mouth. I recently turned 40 and although I have wrinkles around my eyes, I have very few on the rest of my face, which I also attribute to raw food. I  being Raw!!

Wow great success! So it took you 2 years to get rid of it? How long until you started to notice a difference?

I started getting psoriasis on my elbows in the winters when I was a preteen--it would go away in humid/sunny weather for a few years. By my late teens it was year-round; it responded initially to cortizone cream but as I got older I didn't like to use that. In my 30s I also started to get very small patches on my toes. My health insurance wouldn't pay for light therapy as it was on less than 5% of my skin.

It cleared up entirely less than 6 months after I started getting into juicing and raw food in my mid 30s, and has not returned 4+ years later.

2 years ago I developed eczema and it spread throughout most areas of my body. I was treated with various medicines but they didn't really seem to do anything. After switching to a raw lifestyle, my eczema cleared up very quickly. Right now it is pretty much gone with a few scars left.

I have never seen a skin dermatologist so i don't know for sure what i have but my first year of raw, my skin cleared up. This year, i find myself that i have to stay away from anything that isn't 100% raw or pure especially with nut. I seem to tolerate best live food. I also found out that anxiety, will lead to skin problem. I also found out that having a clean colon means nice skin. When i get a colonic, my skin is cleared.

So, my say to you yes go with raw food as much as possible. Watch and observe your body with any possible food sensitivity. Make sure to have bow movement everyday if not, consider colonic or anything to clear and heal your colon. And now, deal with anything that doesn't make you feel comfortable in your own skin.

I love doing natural energy healing, it works for me, perhaps for you it would be yoga or simple nice deep breath and especially in nature. I buy sometime myself flower and i love listening to nice music. Find your peace and balance. Heal your life with Louise Hay has been very helpful.

I would consider include juicing for you. (Cucumber and many nice greens or leafy greens are fantastic for the skin). Many time, you will like the taste of certain food better and just do your best to follow the wisdom of your body. To help your body to develop a healthy craving that lead to healing is to try a broadband of fruit/vegetables/leafy greens or live food.

Keep experimenting and most of all, heal those toxic feeling that you may feel about yourself. The only truth is that you are perfect inside, no matter what you think of you, no matter what others think of you or you may have done. Your inner light is untouched and pure. Believe in you and give yourself permission to feel beautiful because you are.

All the best!

Thanks for that information. My skin is healing great, it's just the scars that are left. They will take time to heal.

May i suggest to do research about skin brushing and applying cold press olive oil.

Wishing you a great success!

Thanks but I did that and it made everything worse. I learnt that skin brushing is not good to do on inflamed areas especially. It's just not good for the condition I have.

I'm using Apple Cider Vinegar on my skin. I did try Aloe Vera mixed with MSM powder but I got tired of having to keep making it every morning and night.

well, i have been raw for about four months now, and have never previously had any skin issues. but since going raw, i seem to be developing allergies to a lot of things, and those allergies are all presenting themselves as skin problems... rashes, hives, blisters, etc. Very disappointing, but not yet bad enough that i will switch back to cooked food.

I do hope this is just a passing phase for you. Maybe it's just something to work through. How are your ankles?

Look into detox symptoms. Are you eating lots of raw gourmet food? Mixing sugars with fats? Take MSM for allergies, it cured my nut allergies!

Mystic, thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately, I was just put on a strong prescription of prednisone due to the allergic reaction from the surgery. I hate taking all these pills, but the prednisone at least has taken away the bulk of the burning sensations, ugh! And at this point, there's no way I can go without the pain meds. Iam hoping there are no further complications with this. :-(
Eat, i really don't believe the increased allergies are detox. Except for all the allergy issues, i love eating raw and i'm nowhere close to giving up on it. For the first month or so of raw, i did eat a lot of gourmet raw foods, but the last couple of months I have been eating a lot more simply... lots of salads with various veggies, whole fruit for breakfast, etc. So I really don't understand all these crazy allergic reactions at all!

It does seem hugely unfair. Do the allergies pre-date the surgery? Anaesthetic can cause all sorts of upsets especially if it was a general.

yes, i thought of that too, but the allergies do predate the surgery, except obviously this most recent one which happened while i was in surgery. Though i had that very same chemical used on me several years ago (pre raw) and had no bad reaction whatsoever. I really hate to point at raw as being the culprit, but it is the only feasible thing that comes to mind..

one option is that you have always had these allergies but other health issues have masked them or that cooked food interacted in such a way as to mask them.

You are not the only person though to say they are much more sensitive since going raw. It's not a good thing on the whole I believe. It would be good to know the reason.

Cleanse the liver and bowel (and natural raw foods such as bitter greens, along with abstinence from synthetic and refined foods) will aid both these organs in naturally purging themselves to a significant extent.

Liver and bowel, liver and bowel...

These are two of the major bodily organs of excretion of toxic substances.

The first, of course, is the skin.

Thus, there is a relationship.

Get these in order, therefore, and you'll be at least 2/3rds of the way towards healthier skin.

If there is an inflammatory component to your skin issues, then this too will be helped by the above considerations but may also require addressing other health issues, since inflammation can be a tricky thing to identify the source origin of (if you search, you'll find more discussion on this in other forum posts).
