I had to go to my doctor today as I had a lump feeling in m throat and the past 2 days I've gotten a 'dry' cough and sore throat. It started when I went raw :( I told him of my diet changes and he was supportive of it but said my body is having a difficult time adjusting to all the raw food. It was coming back up my throat, reflux.
So he put me on a script for 30 days to heal my throat and stomach. Sooo not thrilled to be taking this as I am aware of the potential problems. He assured me 30 days is safe and we'll go from there. I have been trying the ACV and got some digestive enzymes. The ACV I can't continue with right now as my throat is SORE...
Has anyone gone through this when they first went raw (I'm about 3 weeks in)? Will it get better? I feel like I have taken a huge step backward from where I was with my previous, not so raw diet. In need of some encouragement :(

It will pass.
Drugs are never "safe". The body doesn't know what to do with them so they sit in your liver.
A few things you might try and I'm sure others will jump in ~
Gargle with warm salt water ~ and spit it out.
Digestive enzymes should help ~ are they?
Peppermint tea
Richard Schulze has the BEST digestion formulas
Personally, I'd stop eating and just drink carrot juice.
You've not said what you HAVE been eating so, hard to tell you what to stop eating that may be causing this and detox takes many forms in different areas of the body.

I guess safe is the wrong word isn't it...
I'm just feeling soooo bad and freaking out a tad. I NEVER have any type of digestion issues and this is really uncomfortable and becoming painful.
I have been having a green smoothie in the morning (8:30) spinach with banana and/or mango. About 2 hours after the throat lumpy feeling starts...
I'm totally NOT hungry until 12:30ish at which point I'll have a salad with various green stuff thrown in. My own dressing with flax seed oil, lemon and garlic.
Dinner - These are mostly raw, still getting there with this meal. I will have an assortment of veg and perhaps a boiled free range egg or half a free range chicken breast...
I will have a bowl of fresh berries in the evening - usually blueberries and strawberries.
My appetite has totally gone down hill, not hungry at all these days and my gut seems to be getting worse. The enzymes kick things down a notch for sure but my throat burns especially at night. I have been VERY run down today as well.

Aloe vera should help heal your throat, especially if you can get 100%. Once your throat is healed, you could try a tablespoon of acv with a glass of water when you first wake up, on an empty stomach, every morning. Don't eat for at least a half hour or so.
Also, you could get some alkalizer to put in your water every day. That will help too. Definitely keep with the digestive enzymes as needed, especially for your dinner meal, if not raw. Also make sure you aren't drinking when you have a meal and don't drink for a couple hours afterward (depending on what you ate). Also make sure your lemons are ripe.
You could get some PH testers and test your saliva and urine first thing in the morning to see how acidic you are.
Make sure you are eliminating well.
Good luck with your healing journey. :heart

My wife had the lump feeling in her throat for a short time. Her glands got swollen. Only lasted a few days and then tappered off. Prior to going raw (we are currently in a 30 day 100% raw, but plan to stay 80% or better all the time) she had very bad acid reflex. 3+ months ago I stated pushing hard on raw foods. Went 70% right off the bat and found that to be easy. She did as well. Then we kept adding more and more raw. After about the first month and a half it dawned on her that she had not taken anything for the reflex for over 3 weeks. What a thrill for her! And now she is at about 3 months with no reflex issues. Now and again she will get a detox symptom, seems like the beginings of a head cold, and then it just goes away.
I hope you will continue down the raw path. Good luck to you!

Maca is great for the endocrine system.
I wouldn't take the drug either but if you feel guided to, then do what feels right to you.
You will be ok, don't give up

Reflux has been a huge problem for me in general. It's amazing how helpful banana can be. Having some in smoothie is great, but maybe try adding more as a snack on its own? Or make banana ice cream for dessert? Banana isn't my favorite of fruits, but banana ice cream, with some raisins on top, is amazing.
I hope you find something that works quickly! I often found the reflux drugs made my belly hurt worse, just in a different way . . . but there was one time I had a flare so bad I *needed* the meds, and it did reduce the pain so I could eat. Do what you need to do to get healthy! Only you know your body best!
It's not uncommon for certain tropical fruits (high in enzymes) to cause skin sensitisation, even internally.
You mentioned mango. Try rubbing some mango on your wrist and see if it leads to a red rash after a few minutes.
If not, it may simply be that you symptoms are some form of detox. 'Detox' is so over-used and abused by people in the raw foods community, but in your case it seems a legitimate possibility.
