Hi Guys
i am need for some help and guidance here,

my story in short:

i have been trying to go for raw food style many times in the last few years
my longest period of time was 40 days about a year ago , and i a few attempts of around 2-3 weeks each.

every time i left it from some reason or the other , even though that during those times i was felling at my best , my mind was clear and my body was fit and light.

so its clear to me that this is the ideal life style i would like to live my life on.

but the problem is that it seems not possible for me to stick on it , another annoying issue is that every time i stop with my raw food trial i gain some weight which totally sucks and takes me time to lose it after.

when looking back to the reasons i stopped is that my main problem with the raw food was that i was hungry all the time , and all the time was bother with eating , so i lacked a felling of freedom.

so now - i really want to go for the raw food again , i miss those feelings i had, the mental clarity and the light felling i had in my body.

but.. i am now a bit scared to start and stop again , i want it to last and to become a life style and not another fail trial which ends up in weight gain and coming back to SAD food.

what kind of an advice you guys can give me to stay on it this time ?
i guess one of my problems is that i never had any proper guidance on it , what to eat , when to eat it etc

Thanks a lot
John

Have you gotten Alissa's first book and dvd set? That, for me, is the best book to assist someone eating raw.

btw, there is no "fail"... it's a process. If you allow yourself to enjoy the process, it'll be more fun. Also, there's a 30 day challenge here, you might wish to join that.

You don't need to buy anything. You just need to make raw into a habit which is obviously the secret to sticking to it. Very rarely does one become a successful raw foodist overnight. You need to slowly build up your percentage of raw, bit by bit. It's annoying and you will be tempted to dive straight in to 100% raw but that will probably not work any more than it has done already. This is how habit-building work, gradual tiny baby steps, so small you hardly notice them. Today if you're already having a piece of fruit with your breakfast you've already made a start because half your breakfast is raw.

Start off with having a raw breakfast. After one week, have a raw breakfast and for lunch, take half of your usual cooked portion and fill the other half with raw food. After another week, make the lunch all raw. After another week, breakfast/lunch are raw and dinner is half-raw. After those 4 weeks, make dinner all raw as well. Voila, you're fully raw in less than a month and you did it gradually, making it a habit. Give it a go :)

Hey John -- I got trained by Alissa and some others on this Raw Food Thing and I'm telling you -- once you get to sticking with it and it's a habit (as Amii says!) -- that's the key.

It's just awesome.

I'm hosting a vacation in July where we have a class called "Habitually Raw" and will also be teaching some of what Alissa does in terms of the introduction to raw food.

This is the event page: http://uncooking101.com/site/events/

I *do* recommend Alissa's book if you don't want help from another person, in person. She has a meal guide in there... and the whole book is just sooo inspirational.

And of course there is always this forum! It helps to reach out a hand for help!!:throwhearts:

We don't discuss the eating of animals on this site and personally, too many chances of creating illness eating raw animals. Any time you see an outbreak of e coli or some such, it's caused by animals...

The link to Alissa's book and dvd's if that's what you're talking about is right under the big green leafy thingy in the upper left of this site. :)

So here: http://www.alissacohen.com/shop/Books/

:-)

I have a friend who's had success with Paleo, send me a private message if you want her info (she has a blog and such I believe)... but the thing is... most people find more success with raw b/c meat is so acidic to the body.

Raw food gets ALL the bad stuff out and revs up ALL the good stuff. For the most part. And so your body has this brilliant formula of getting the stuff it needs and not the stuff it doesn't need.
